Friday Night Fights (March 31, 2017)

With the biggest event of the year just 2 days away, you could feel Ultimate Grand Prix VII in the air during Friday Night Fights! The official announcement of the 7th Annual UGP Battle Royal meant one last qualifying match to guarantee a place in the multi-fighter scramble.

Two of the top contenders vying for the KFL Women's Championship were given the chance to earn guaranteed entry -- but it wasn't all smiles for the female fighters of Friday Night Fights! A string of recent wins was to grant jess a title opportunity, but the match was interrupted when Sunday's title challenger United: Mime crashed the party!

Mime booked his UGP KFL Championship match when he challenged CaTigeReptile's decision to exclusively defend the gold against women. He contends CTR has exploited gross mismatches, doing harm to both the championship and the women fighters she claims to be empowering. CTR continued her program undeterred last week, but was cut-off as Mime demonstrated one of his points with a MAX Damage decimation of jess!

Hall of Fame United fighter Mimik got Mime's back as "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile rushed the arena to rectify the situation. Fortunately for the KFL Champ, she found back-up of her own in occasional collaborator and Mimik's UGP opponent "The Predator" TonyTheTiger! The pair were able to drive off their United enemies in comprehensive fashion! A sign of things to come this weekend at Ultimate Grand Prix VII?

Before the chaos: NovaStarr earned her entrance into the UGP Battle Royal with a convincing victory over Shizuma. Nova is remembered for her famous domination of the Battle Royal at Ultimate Grand Prix IV! She's been circling the top of the KFL Women's ranks for the past few months. Could Ultimate Grand Prix VII be her launching pad to something good?

Be here this Sunday, April 2nd for all the answers as the phenomenon of the arena spectacular returns for Supercard 91: Ultimate Grand Prix VII! All the titles will be on the line as 2017 Battle Royale winner The_Purple_Bunny headlines in a test of the best clash with minted Undisputed Champion VenoMark! PLUS: Ratt & NightHawk return to take gold and justice from "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J! 2016 Hall of Famer Hokey says farewell with a bitter showdown against Genku! The fifth tier of Mr. Daruma m0s aims to topple ElJobber for good in Iron Man Death Match! Kron returns for the ultimate UGP rematch with DECEPTION! All this and so much more! I can feel it coming in the air -- something good is going to happen! Don't you dare miss it!

UGP Championship Preview: TPB vs VM

I can feel it coming in the air! Ultimate Grand Prix VII is almost upon us!

UGP Season officially begins with the coming of the new year, etching one name into the annual main event with January's 40-fighter Battle Royale! In 2017, United: The_Purple_Bunny fought his way through 39 other fighters to earn the right to challenge in the main event of the year's biggest Supercard Spectacular! It was one of the few accolades TPB has never won, and could make him the first ever 7-time Undisputed Champion if he wins at UGP7!

Defending the Undisputed Championship in the main event will be VenoMark! Crowned during February's Pre-Show 90: Venomous Creatures, VenoMark had to work hard to earn his second title reign and first UGP main event! He earned the title against overwhelming odds, defeating reigning champion Genku, and four other contenders, in an Eliminator match! That was after a calculated attack at Supercard 89: Breaking Point -- and resulted in the first-ever Undisputed title defense during Friday Night Fights!

When these two warriors meet it will be a clash of contrasts. The_Purple_Bunny is the seasoned champ who's been to the main event of UGP before and won! His Battle Royale success has meant TPB could take it easy in the lead-up to UGP, making two rare appearances on January 30 and February 17 to beat VenoMark! VM has had to work hard to earn his place in the biggest match of his entire career! Will it be the new champ who passes the test of the best at UGP -- or will wile veteran The_Purple_Bunny add his 7th title victory, and first at UGP, to a long list of accolades? Here's how the two fighters match-up

UGP: Damo Vows Battle Royal Success

It is a tradition as old as Ultimate Grand Prix itself! The Annual UGP Battle Royal is an accolade steeped in endurance and perseverance! There's a little bit of luck involved, but only the fighter with the deepest desire, and best prepared body, will survive the grueling contest! Like January's Battle Royale, the match will see fighters enter in random order at regular intervals of 90 seconds. The winner will be the last fighter standing after twenty-nine other competitors are eliminated!

"The Chosen One" Damo was disappointed with his run in the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up after being Runner-Up in the 2017 Grand Slam Launch. He's vowed to get himself on the fast track to success by guaranteeing victory over the UGP Battle Royal!

The pedigree for success is a compelling one. Last year's UGP Battle Royal winner TonyTheTiger so impressed officials that he was granted an Undisputed Championship match at the 2016 Spring Classic! Could this year's winner follow a path to glory paved by the likes of inaugural "Iron Man" winner Ratt, Violent`J and Genku? History makes a compelling case!

History of UGP Battle Royal Winners:
1. Ratt elim. Shoe - Supercard 4: Ultimate Grand Prix (April 3, 2011)
2. Violent`J elim. Oozaru - Supercard 22: Ultimate Grand Prix II (April 1, 2012)
3. CeeKay elim. IAmAce - Supercard 34: Ultimate Grand Prix III (April 7, 2013)
4. Rockey316 elim. foahchon - Supercard 49: Ultimate Grand Prix IV (April 6, 2014)
5. Genku elim. Rockey316 - Supercard 61: Ultimate Grand Prix V (March 29, 2015)
6. TonyTheTiger elim. LordSkarlet - Supercard 77: Ultimate Grand Prix VI (April 3, 2016)

The 7th Annual UGP Battle Royal was announced during this week's Monday Night Games, where qualifying matches guaranteed entry for "The Fallen" Sekktor & hydraslash and former Division 2 Champion SubScorpTile! Will the numbers game play out for The Fallen, or does SST have the "Secret Weapon" for ultimate success?

The action goes down this weekend at Ultimate Grand Prix VII -- Sunday, April 2nd! There, the main event will see 2017 Battle Royale winner The_Purple_Bunny attempt to become the first 7-time Undisputed Champion when he tests VenoMark at UGP7! All this and so much more! I can feel it coming in the air -- something good is going to happen!

UGP: Revealed - "It Was Me All Along Genku"

Genku has been chasing the Undisputed Championship ever since he joined The Invasion back in August. He remained one of the group's leading title hopes in November, when an Invasion Election was held to determine which contender the group would support. Genku emerged undisputed winner by a single vote -- at least until Invasion figurehead Violent`J issued accusations of electoral fraud!

VJ's accusations appeared founded when voting data was leaked and Shen_DuHBK came forward to confirm his vote was altered. A claim that turned out to be nothing but an opportunistic lie.

Genku got the truth out of Shen_DuHBK on March 10th, and then went after the original source of the claim on March 24th. Still fuming over his title loss at Pre-Show 90: Venomous Creatures, he expected to connect the plot to the person he blames - league official Mick. Instead, he uncovered an all together different conspiracy - perpetrated by a conspirator who has finally revealed himself.

It was Hokey! It was Hokey all along!

Hokey's 2016 Royal Roulette victory was the reason Genku joined The Invasion in the first place. With the Summer Olympic Games looming, Genku became paranoid that Hokey would use his Royal Roulette title opportunity to steal away the All-Star Summer Showdown main event title shot he had earned. Hokey maintained the paranoia was completely absurd at Dead Or Alive IX, but Genku never the less sought an alliance with The Invasion to keep him busy.

As the year drew toward an end, Hokey reemerged as an Undisputed Champion frontrunner. He had been planning to cash-in his Royal Roulette title opportunity at Supercard 86: Survivor Sequence - Invasion. All part of a final blaze of glory to coincide with his imminent retirement and induction into the Hall of Fame. It was supposed to be a celebratory farewell tour -- but Genku and the Invasion Election happened to steal Hokey's spotlight!

With his Hall of Fame retirement spoiled, Hokey contacted Genku's strongest opposition - Violent`J. There was no love lost between Hokey and The Invasion. He recruited VJ to sabotage Genku's title contention by attacking the credibility of the one-vote win.

With Ultimate Grand Prix VII less than a week away -- Hokey has revealed himself to challenge Genku to the Hall of Famer's final match as an active competitor! Genku has every reason to go to UGP! Will it be to crush the man who destroyed his "great" name -- or hand Hokey his final triumph?

Can you feel it coming? The biggest event of The Great Arena calendar is almost upon us! All the action goes down at Supercard 91: Ultimate Grand Prix VII - this Sunday, April 2nd!

PLUS: Genku wasn't the only warrior affected by the Invasion Election saga. AlbertBeefcake was the appointed investigator taken in by Shen_DuHBK's lies! At Tower of Power XVIII he was Shen's protector -- at Ultimate Grand Prix he will become his hunter! Another bitter grudge match for a massive card of non-stop action!

Monday Night Games (March 27, 2017)

The stakes were high during the final Monday Night Games before Ultimate Grand Prix VII! With the Supercard Spectacular less than a week away, there were still positions to fight for as officials confirmed the announcement of the 7th Annual UGP Battle Royal!

The history of UGP Battle Royal winners is legendary, with last year's winner going on to compete for the Undisputed Championship at the 2016 Spring Classic! Every fighter in the league is hungry to get their moment at UGP. Three fighters were given the chance to guarantee it in two big UGP Battle Royal Qualifying matches!

The Fallen have been out to upset The United's Monday order ever since they revealed their new organization at the start of the month. The United have had the better of the group throughout March, but when it mattered most, Sekktor & hydraslash took greater pleasure in denying Artanix & Murdoink guaranteed entry into the UGP event! It was a close fought affair, looking very much like it could end in a draw. The Fallen edged out the win with seconds to spare. A devastating upset for The United!

Neither team's figurehead was in The Great Arena for Monday Night. Fallen leader LordSkarlet has heavier things on his mind ever since King Ken announced his return for a Steel Cage grudge match at UGP! United: Shoe will answer his own challenge from a skeleton in his closet in the highly anticipated meeting between he and former Division 2 Champion Poasty!

SubScorpTile also secured his entry into the UGP Battle Royal, beating redman in a 1-on-1 Qualifying match. Each took the opportunity of the 2017 Grand Prix Show to take a moment in the sun. The second victory in two days means SST will be back for his fourth consecutive UGP!

Monday Night Games: Week 9 (March 27, 2017):
6. "The Fallen" Sekktor & hydraslash d. "The United" Artanix & Murdoink [+1] [UGP Battle Royal Qualifier]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 3/26/2017

The managerial skills of DArqueBishop have done it again! The newly revealed manager of The Invasion has maintained a stranglehold on the Duo Division, launching new recruits CCShadow & Scott-Howell to another Grand Prix Show tournament victory whilst resting prodigal Tower of Power XVIII dominators, DaemonX & Banging. It looks like another tactical masterstroke from the man who guided The United to UGP success against The Invasion, at Ultimate Grand Prix VI!

Pre-Show 91 was the perfect Duo Division prelude to this weekend's Ultimate Grand Prix VII, with several results producing new bouts for the Supercard Spectacular!

"The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo and Mark & Leroy stunned when they fought to a complete standstill during Round 2 of the Grand Prix Show! These two top teams of 2016 will prove whose generation it really is when they meet in a tiebreaker at UGP7!

Tournament winners CCShadow & Scott-Howell will also have their hands full when they answer the challenge of Jammer2Omega & Porygonix! The Invasion bumped the rising star duo out of the Grand Prix Show in the Semi Final. They'll aim to prove themselves on the grandest stage of them all, where a win could propel them to the coveted Duo Division Championship! That also means DAB won't have his trusted recruits on hand when he builds a team of five to face Team Oozaru in a Survival Sequence showdown dubbed the Battle for Banging's Soul!

Supercard 91: Ultimate Grand Prix VII is nearly upon us! All the action of the most anticipated Supercard of the year goes down this Sunday - April 2nd!

2017 Battle Royale winner United: The_Purple_Bunny will attempt to make it 7 times at UGP7 when he tests Undisputed Champion VenoMark in the main event! PLUS: m0s takes his bad blood with ElJobber to extremes when they meet in an Iron Man Death Match! King Ken lives to destroy LordSkarlet inside the dreaded Steel Cage! Kron returns to face DECEPTION in a UGP rematch! Poasty aims to slay his dragon Shoe! And United: Mime challenges the KFL matriarchy of "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile! All this and so much more! Be here Sunday for the ultimate!

Pre-Show 91: Grand Prix Show

Continuing a tradition begun at last year's Grand Prix Show; thirty-two teams from the Duo Division assembled for a one-night elimination bracket! Tournament 79 would serve as a very special prelude to the action of next week's Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

With several high-profile teams torn apart by injury during the year, and others saving themselves for UGP, it was a unique opportunity for some of the less well known tandems to feature under the big spotlight! Each team was entered into a random draw, but it was clear from the start that experience would be the key a the 2017 Grand Prix Show!

Throughout 2016 Jammer2Omega & Porygonix have measured their progress against "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo. It seemed as if the two teams could be destined for a Grand Final showdown, but neither pairing's path was at all predictable! Round 2 produced one of the most shocking results of the event when The New Generation fought to a tie against Mark & Leroy! The resulting double elimination meant J2O & Pory would surpass their rivals, beating Politics & Menas and Tower Of Power XVIII breakouts Jason_Voorhees & edge!

"The Fallen" Sekktor & hydraslash had made a splash at Tower of Power, too. Yet they found themselves surprised by the might of "Brexiteers" Liam & nif! The win gifted the longtime Brit pairing a bye into the Semi Final where they overwhelmed good natured dark horses McDaniel & fraysol! At the same time, J2O & Porygonix found themselves running out of luck in a hard fought battle with newly rechristened "Invasion" CCShadow & Scott-Howell!

There were echoes of the 2016 Grand Prix Show as the veteran Brexiteers met CCShadow & Scott-Howell in a highly intriguing Grand Final! The New Invasion made it back-to-back wins in a UGP Season already dipped in deja vu after DECEPTION's win in the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up! They set themselves up nicely for a high-profile spot at Ultimate Grand Prix VII, but it won't be in the Duo Division Championship match, this year.

Next Sunday the Duo Division Championship will be embroiled in a bitter grudge match when Ratt & NightHawk return to settle the score with the most dominant tag team in the history of The Great Arena: "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J! It'll be a battle for gold, pride and immortality on the biggest stage of them all: Supercard 91: Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

UGP: New Manager Books Invasion Showdown

During last night's Friday Night Fights, DaemonX warned his rivals there was a reckoning a coming. He did so flanked by one of The Great Arena's most seasoned duos: CCShadow & Scott-Howell - a combination with no historical ties to The Invasion, or their past affiliates in ICWW.

As it turns out; DArqueBishop's surprise attack back at Pre-Show 90: Venomous Creatures was indicative of his secret role as the new management of The Invasion!

A tactical shift has already been influencing The Invasion's moves for quite some time, removing them from the conflict over Monday Nights, and helping guide the group to unprecedented success during Tower Of Power XVIII! Now DArqueBishop has a strategy for putting an end to the struggle with Oozaru, PaganFreak and Statix -- and it will happen at Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

The fight for the tormented soul of Banging will go down at the biggest event of The Great Arena calendar! Five of The Invasion's deadliest warriors will meet Oozaru and a team of allies in a 5-on-5 Survival Sequence! It's not the first time DArqueBishop has guided a team -- this time last year he took control of The United, leading them to success against The Invasion at Ultimate Grand Prix VI!

It's just another big battle building to what promises to be one of the biggest UGP's yet! It all goes down on Sunday, April 2nd -- but before it does, this weekend will feature thirty-two Duo Division teams in an elimination battle for supremacy at Pre-Show 91: Grand Prix Show!

Supercard 91: Ultimate Grand Prix VII (April 2, 2017):
- United: The_Purple_Bunny versus VenoMark (c) [Undisputed Championship]
- Ratt & NightHawk versus "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J (c) [Duo Division Championship]
- m0s versus ElJobber [Iron Man Death Match]
- Kron versus DECEPTION
- King Ken versus "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet [Steel Cage Fight]
- United: Mime versus "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile (c) [KFL Championship]

Friday Night Fights (March 24, 2017)

Only during UGP Season could you find Friday Night Fights packed with two immortal Hall of Famers, three reigning champions, and two Championship matches! Pre-Show 91: Grand Prix Show is just three days away -- but the UGP revelations continued in a stunning night of action!

MKMaster shocked everyone when he reached the Grand Final of the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up last week! He kept the surprises coming, using his success to call out reigning Division 2 Champion Poasty for an impromptu title bout! Still riding high from his phenomenal success, MKM managed to upset the champ and win his first championship title! Poasty won't be happy, but he has much bigger things on his mind, like slaying the personal demon that is Shoe at Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

Personal demons were at the heart of several confrontations during Friday Night Fights. None was bigger than the main event face-off between Genku and his accuser Violent`J! Having uncovered the lie of Shen_DuHBK, Genku demanded answers from his original accuser - believing him to be part of a grand conspiracy involving league official Mick! Genku beat down the Hall of Fame Duo Division Champion just as he had Shen_DuHBK -- but the Y2Juggalo's confession was laced in threat: "You're damn right it's a conspiracy, you stupid son of a bitch! I never liked you! It's been right in front of you the whole time, but you're too stupid to even see it! You're gonna find out real soon, though. Ohhhhh, what a lovely tea party!"

The remnants of The Invasion had revelations for the trio of Oozaru, Statix & PaganFreak. They finally got their fight with DaemonX, but he came with the shocking reveal that The Invasion has been operating under new management -- and CCShadow & Scott-Howell were in tow! The two trios collided in an epic brawl, with the soul at the centre of their feud nowhere to be seen! It looks as if the fight for Banging's soul could be building to a UGP showdown of legends!

Earlier this week, "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile learned she will face UGP legend United: Mime in a KFL title defense on April 2nd. Mime's criticism of her biased and one-sided defenses against the women of the league didn't stop her defending against kororaa in a comprehensive victory. It's the fifth time she's offered a title opportunity to a woman of the league since winning the title in February. Will her KFL Women's Championship come to an end at the biggest event of them all? We'll find out April 2nd when she faces her biggest test in months at UGP!

UGP: Old Blood, New Prey for TTT

The coming of Ultimate Grand Prix has a way of opening up old wounds and rekindling old rivalries. "The Predator" TonyTheTiger was eliminated from last week's 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up tournament in Round 4 by an old UGP nemesis - and now he wants to settle the score!

United: Mimik has achieved a great many things in his Hall of Fame career, and although he's best known for being the original "King of the Battle Royal" -- he also has an impressive record at UGP that includes two victories over TonyTheTiger!

Their first battle was at Supercard 4: Ultimate Grand Prix -- the event that started it all! Back then, TonyTheTiger was attempting to climb the ranks ahead of the first Tower of Power. He thought he could breeze right by Mimik, but instead suffered a decimating defeat!

When Mimik was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014, their old UGP rivalry was stirred back up all over again! At Supercard 49: Ultimate Grand Prix IV, The Predator attempted to send his old nemesis off on a sour note. Once again Mimik stood tall, completing his farewell tour with another victory over the spiteful Predator!

As they say in the classics, nobody remembers Acts I and II -- it's Act III the people talk about forever! In 2017, Ultimate Grand Prix VII will be TonyTheTiger's ultimate chance to write his name in history as a winner!

Supercard 91: Ultimate Grand Prix VII (April 2, 2017):
- United: The_Purple_Bunny versus VenoMark (c) [Undisputed Championship]
- Ratt & NightHawk versus "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J (c) [Duo Division Championship]

UGP: Things Get Worse for LordSkarlet

"American Nightmare" LordSkarlet thought the world would be his when he reassembled old allies as part of a new Fallen.

The team regrouped at Supercard 90: Tower of Power XVIII, and announced themselves by storming the Monday Night Games the following night. The United succeeded in rebuking their intrusion, but LordSkarlet and The Fallen kept looking forward.

LordSkarlet was one of the favourites heading into the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up, but dropped out earlier than expected. In a return rematch against Shoe during the following night's Monday Night Games - the arrogant interloper suffered the ultimate humiliation of a MAX Damage annihilation!

It probably seemed like things were about as bad as they could get for LordSkarlet, but The American Nightmare is about to awaken to a fresh Hell of his own making!

King Ken hasn't been seen in The Great Arena since November 7th, when LordSkarlet attempted to recruit the league legend into The Fallen. When Ken refused -- LS sent the King of the World to the Injured List with a devastating attack! Now the skeleton in his closet is coming back for revenge!

The instrument of the King's revenge will be a sadistic structure worthy of medieval torture! The Steel Cage Fight has tormented many a soul -- leaving few warriors unscathed since its brutal inception at Supercard 76! The nightmare lands in two weeks as part of the biggest event of the calendar year -- Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

Supercard 91: Ultimate Grand Prix VII (April 2, 2017):
- United: The_Purple_Bunny versus VenoMark (c) [Undisputed Championship]
- Ratt & NightHawk versus "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J (c) [Duo Division Championship]

RSI: Shen_DuHBK - Wanted

It was the twist nobody saw coming.

When Invasion Election voting data was mysteriously leaked - Shen_DuHBK came forward to confirm his vote was altered to secure Genku the win.

It was the breakthrough the case had been waiting for. It seemed to perfectly support and explain the original accusations, and few questioned the whistleblower's claims -- until a fortnight ago.

When Genku invaded Friday Night Fights seeking answers to the tampering scandal, he went after the best lead. He disabled appointed investigator and defender AlbertBeefcake, as well as his associated, isolating Shen_DuHBK to squeeze him for information. Instead, he got a confession to the lie: Shen_DuHBK's vote was not altered.

Why did Shen_DuHBK lie? It can now be confirmed it was simply an act of opportunity.

Bad blood between Shen_DuHBK and Genku first developed during the 2017 Grand Slam Launch. Shen shocked the world by eliminating Genku in Round 4. Genku's subsequent attempt to save face pushed Shen_DuHBK into further success. When voting data leaked, Shen saw his opportunity to put the screws to Genku -- and get the spotlight back.

The spotlight is indeed back on Shen_DuHBK. For his lies, he's now a wanted man!

The case otherwise remains open, with the identity of the person who leaked voter data of extreme interest to investigators -- and Genku!

Monday Night Games (March 20, 2017)

The Monday Night Games were a bed of intensity as The Fallen returned to cross swords with The United, and fallout from the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up spilled out into the Games!

In perhaps the biggest consequence of Tournament 78; United: Mime turned his Semi Final run into a platform to address the outstanding issue of the KFL Championship. He lost the title in a surprise defeat during the February 13th edition of Monday Night Games. That same week; CaTigeReptile vowed to exclusively defend the title against the women of league. Mime questioned the justification of the bias, and argued the title has only been diminished by sub-standard competition, and CTR's cheap domination of women. He declared Ultimate Grand Prix VII the time to answer a challenge worthy of the title! A decision already sanctioned by league officials! That means April 2nd, The Guardian will defend her gold against long-time rival Mime!

"American Nightmare" LordSkarlet was in all kinds of a foul mood after dropping out of last week's tournament in Round 4! In the main event; LS thought he would take out his frustrations with a grudge match for his prior loss against United: Shoe. The overconfident Fallen leader instead ran straight into a MAX Damage demolition! The shocking defeat looks like a setback for LordSkarlet ahead of UGP. It also sends an ominous warning to Poasty, who hopes to slay the demon of Shoe when they meet in an epic encounter at Ultimate Grand Prix!

It was a bad night all around for The Fallen: Sekktor found himself on the losing end of a hard fought solo clash with United: Artanix. Meanwhile, outstanding bad blood brought the one-man Greek Crisis of maxilos to the Monday Night Games! The reunion of Sekktor & hydraslash at Tower of Power XVIII resulted in maxilos' teammate proXade suffering a fatal injury! The defeat no doubt cost The Greek Crisis the spotlight at UGP -- a loss maxilos took great pleasure in avenging!

Earlier in the night: United: Murdoink called out NovaStarr to settle the score for his shock early elimination during Day 1 of the tournament. A score he had no trouble settling. No such luck for United newcomer zelse, however. His attempt to go 1-1 against jess backfired in a narrow defeat. All part of the school of hard knocks for The United's newest rookie project.

Monday Night Games: Week 8 (March 20, 2017):
6. United: Shoe d. "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet [+MAX]
5. United: Artanix d. Sekktor [+1]
4. United: Murdoink d. NovaStarr [+1]
3. NOOB d. Luminary [+1]
2. jess d. United: zelse [+1]
1. maxilos d. hydraslash [+1]

Supercard 91: Ultimate Grand Prix VII (April 2, 2017):

Weekly Rankings Recap - 3/19/2017

The 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up has officially kicked UGP Season into high gear! A massive week of tournament action brings us a giant leap closer to the Supercard spectacular we're all waiting for: Ultimate Grand Prix VII! No fighter is more ready than "The Hitman" DECEPTION! His back to back '16/'17 Grand Prix Warm-Up wins were the perfect preparation for his upcoming UGP rematch against returning Hall of Famer Kron!

The risk/reward strategy of the second calendar Grand Slam meant some of the big names were missing in the last week. Reigning Undisputed Champion VenoMark took a much needed break to prepare for Battle Royale winner United: The_Purple_Bunny! 2012 winner ElJobber also played it safe, saving himself for the Iron Man Death Match awaiting him at UGP!

Reaping the benefits of the Warm-Up are undoubtedly United: Mime and MKMaster. A study in contrasts; MKMaster was the Runner-Up nobody could've expected, while Mime really showed how he can be a force to be reckoned with. It will be very interesting to see where these guys wind up at the big dance!.

Sadly, three fighters paid the price during Tournament 78: KittyKat, UlcaTron and EasterBunny all going down to fatal injuries. There's very little chance any will make it back in time for UGP, which is especially devastating for KittyKat and UlcaTron, who've been such a big part of the last year! It was a brutal year, too. The Injured List has never been bigger, sadly splitting up several major Duos, including KittyKat and JoelKatz.

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Finals

It began with 128-fighters, and for most of the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up there was no clear stand-out in the field! A small army of contenders had fallen away, leaving the Semi Finals to finally bring the annual UGP Grand Slam to a close! Three of the four names had absolute credence as prospective winners, but the presence of one wildcard meant uncertainty for all.

Hall of Famer Oozaru had never intended to enter Tournament 78 to win. He just wanted to use the draw to strike a blow at DaemonX in the name of his tormented friend and legendary Pacific Connection partner: Banging. For "The Hitman" DECEPTION it was a completely different story. For three years in a row the Grand Prix Warm-Up had been DECEPTION's time to shine. Last year it became his first Grand Slam Tournament crown and with a UGP rematch awaiting him - he came to Tournament 78 to repeat his success. The Semi was DECEPTION's hardest fight of the entire event, but in a close fought, hard hitting battle the defending champion broke through, securing his place in his third consecutive Grand Prix Warm-Up Final!

United: Mime was a potential winner from the very start, but his case grew considerably over the course of five previous rounds. He was the only fighter during Tournament 78 to inflict MAX Damage on his opponents -- a feat her performed twice! MKMaster scored a +18 impact in his Round 2 fight against Bronzie, but nobody ever suspected he could go the distance. He avoided a collision with the #2 seed when Jerrod eliminated her in a Round 3 upset. MKM earned his way, but nobody was sure if it was just a fluke. Things became a lot clearer in the Semi Final when Mime found himself lacking the power of his earlier triumphs. MKMaster seized his opportunity, taking full advantage of Mime's uncharacteristic weakness! He held firm and finally claimed the scalp he needed to prove himself! The biggest win of his career leading to the biggest match of his life!

There was no escaping the obvious mismatch in the final battle. DECEPTION had a pedigree at this particular event that was second to none. MKMaster had never reached a tournament final and gave no reason to expect him to do as well as he had! Anything seemed possible, but The Hitman had his sights set on a repeat of history and he wasn't going to be denied! DECEPTION summoned his very best and MKMaster did the same. When the dust settled, the result was decisive...

For the second year in a row DECEPTION was the Grand Prix Warm-Up winner! With his victory, he now looks ahead to Ultimate Grand Prix VII where Hall of Fame legend Kron will await to test his mettle on the grandest stage of them all. Just as Tournament 78 was a repeat of the 2016 Grand Prix Warm-Up, the match at UGP7 will be a rematch of their main event battle at Ultimate Grand Prix VI! Will history continue to repeat itself? Can DECEPTION fight his way to the Undisputed Championship that defined his 2016? Be here April 2nd to find the answers!

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Quarters

All eyes were on the Quarter Finals for an intriguing blend of the highly anticipated, and the totally unexpected! Much of the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up had gone according to plan, but results from the Fourth Round had created some of the most unusual combinations of the event!

Hall of Fame ICWW alum Oozaru made his unexpected return at Supercard 89: Breaking Point to finally fight for the tortured soul of his famed Pacific Connection partner Banging. He only entered Tournament 78 to steel himself for the fight ahead and make a dent in The Invasion's conquest, but Scott-Howell took out Oozaru's ultimate target DaemonX in Round 3! The big man settled for an elementary win, besting Scott-Howell to earn his way into the Semi Finals.

This time last year "The Hitman" DECEPTION and AlbertBeefcake met in the final battle of this very tournament! On that day, DECEPTION was the reigning Undisputed Champion and he backed it up with his first Grand Slam tournament victory ahead of a UGP title defense against Kron! It was as if destiny ordained a tournament rematch in preparation for DECEPTION's rematch with Kron at the coming UGP. Rather than merely drift through re-runs, The Hitman improved upon history by unleashing an amazing +14 impact in the Quarter Final! The victory completely bamboozled AlbertBeefcake, setting DECEPTION up for his third consecutive Grand Prix Warm-Up Semi Final!

On Monday Nights; Mimik and Mime are part of one of the most dominant collectives to ever walk into The Great Arena! In the Quarter Final of Tournament 78, they were unexpected rivals. It isn't the first time members of The United have faced each other. A championship rivalry between Mimik and Hokey famously broke out late last year. Despite the history between Hokey & Mime, there didn't appear to be any animosity when Mime raised his game to eliminate his Hall of Fame teammate.

GohanSon and MKMaster were clearly strangers in a strange land in the Quarter Finals. No one could have predicted their rise, yet GohanSon achieved the incredible feat of elimination Damo in the Fourth Round! MKMaster avoided overwhelming mismatches, benefitting from Jerrod's upset win over #2 seed CaTigeReptile in Round 3, to take out the upstart. He did it again in the Quarters, totally outclassing GohanSon with a convincing +3 impact win. It was a compelling result - the kind that made you wonder if MKMaster could've taken CTR and Damo out himself. He'll have the chance to prove his skill when he achieves the incredible feat of walking into his first tournament Semi Final!

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Round 4:

Dreams were shattered in the Fourth Round of Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up! The fates were cruel to some, but kind to others, as the finals started to take shape at the expense of many of the tournament favourites!

#1 seed Genku suffered another indignity as he met Hall of Fame immortal Oozaru in the first match of the round! Oozaru showed troubling signs of vulnerability during Round 2, but put it all together to take a big lump out of Genku's Undisputed Championship hopes! Genku was customarily irritable upon defeat, once again blaming officials -- in particular Mick -- for their "failure of a tournament"!

Bad karma must've been in the air as "Chosen One" Damo suffered a massive upset elimination at the hands of GohanSon! He sent EasterBunny to the injured list in the last round, but completely capitulated against his unassuming opponent! GohanSon will be a man amongst giants in the Quarter Final, but has arguably the safest opponent in fellow upstart MKMaster! MKM had a tough battle with Jerrod, but it seemed J's elimination of CaTigeReptile in the last round took all he had.

No such trouble for "The Hitman" DECEPTION, who impressed with a devastating +16 impact against veteran competitor NovaStarr. The win edged DECEPTION toward the front of the favourite as chief rival "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet said goodnight in a shock loss to investigator AlbertBeefcake! The result sets up a compelling rematch between the 2016 Finalists!

Mimik made a compelling case for his consideration, as well, with a comprehensive win over lurking predator TonyTheTiger! This means the Quarter Final will play host to a battle of United fighters, with Mimik advancing to a clash against the hardest hitter of the entire tournament: Mime!

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Round 3:

The bloodletting continued in Round 3 as the toll of Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up sent yet another soul to the injured list! This time it was EasterBunny who suffered an end to his UGP dream, taken out in a brutal +24 decimation by "Chosen One" Damo!

The perils associated with fighting this close to Ultimate Grand Prix were once again on display for all to see. The two champions competing became the two big upsets of Round 3 as #2 seed and KFL Champion CaTigeReptile suffered a stunning upset at the hands of Jerrod, and Division 2 Champ Poasty was wrestled out of the running in a close-fought contest with AlbertBeefcake!

The remaining favourites all looked strong as they advanced to Round 4: "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet emerged as a frontrunner with an impressive win against G0LD, matched by a strong win for "The Hitman" DECEPTION against Benjamin! Mime shot up the list of prospective winners as well with his second MAX Damage win of the tournament against PaganFreak!

#1 seed Genku set up an intriguing Fourth Round contest with returned Hall of Famer Oozaru. He roughed up one-time tournament upstart Loopster. The hopes of the Hall of Fame were also kept alive by Mimik, who earned a solid victory against a Jason_Voorhees who's been going from strength to strength since Tower of Power XVIII! Mimik will meet old nemesis TonyTheTiger in Round 4 -- a match everyone will want to watch!

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Round 2

The action intensified in Round 2 as Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up escalated into a hard hitting cull that cost the second fighter of the tournament their run to Ultimate Grand Prix!

The casualty came in the final battle of the Second Round. UlcaTron had caused a minor upset on Day 2 when he eliminated Baraka_MK, but desperation wasn't enough to carry him past the imposing challenge of reigning KFL Champion, and #2 seed: CaTigeReptile. The Guardian didn't even have time to think twice as she dominated the vulnerable fighter, sending him to the injured list with +11!

The average cost of defeat was raised considerably by a string of heavy impacts: "The Hitman" DECEPTION and "Chosen One" Damo equaled CTR's strength with +11 dominations. Fallen "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet doubled those efforts for his second big win of the tournament - a crushing +22 decimation of TripleH! Upstart dominator MKMaster also made it double-digits with a surprising +18 destruction against Bronzie!

#1 seed Genku had one of the toughest matches of the draw. He was tested by Artanix in the opening fight of the round, but earned a convincing win. Artanix's United teammates fared better with both Mime and Mimik advancing to the Third Round, despite a brief scare for Mime. It was a close call for the other Hall of Fame fighter, Oozaru. He was fortunate to survive a weak performance against jack4813, possibly showing signs of being taxed by his return feud with The Invasion!

Too many potential-winners advanced to Round 3 to draw any conclusions. "The Predator" TonyTheTiger stalked quietly to the next round, less noticeable than the heavy hitters. Division 2 Champion Poasty kept his winning streak alive with a big win against foahchon, setting up an intriguing Third Round face-off with 2016 Runner-Up AlbertBeefcake!

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Day 2

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up concluded the First Round with an exciting second half of non-stop action! There was a bit of everything on Day 2 as the tournament random draw produced a few upsets, a few early exits, and some hard hitting results that got everybody talking!

Mime sent the biggest shockwave through the event with his MAX Damage decimation of Skizelli! It was one of two big wins for The United on Day, with Hall of Famer Mimik also advancing after a solid win against Darfus. United leader Shoe was one of the major exits from Round 1, given the unenviable test of Service Krew boss Damo in a difficult draw! Newcomer zelse also got a rough induction, taken out by KFL women's challenger jess.

Reigning Women's KFL Champion CaTigeReptile found herself seeded #2 with a comfortable win over ArtemisFlow. She'll find herself with a surprise opponent in Round 2 after UlcaTron raised his game to eliminate Baraka_MK! BMK's New Generation teammate "Mad Dog" Onryo was also taken out of the field, suffering a harsh defeat to Duo Division rival Jammer2Omega.

J2O's Duo partner Porygonix scored another upset in his high-profile encounter with Shen_DuHBK! All eyes were on Shen after last week's Friday Night Fights admission that he'd lied about electoral tampering! He was no doubt disappointed to make such an early exit, but it may be a blessing in disguise given the violent state of mind would-be Invasion Election winner Genku has exhibited -- not to mention betrayed investigator AlbertBeefcake!

The biggest match of the round was arguably "The Predator" TonyTheTiger versus Statix! The heavyweight encounter didn't disappoint - going down to the wire as The Predator edged out a hard fought win! Round 1 also briefly rekindled the rivalry between Fallen Sekktor and "Pegasus" Zentile, revisiting their 2016 whirlwind Div.2 series with a +3 win to Sekktor.
