Tournament 83: Grand Slam [Doubles] 2017 got off to an explosive start with the very first match of the First Round! The Pacific Connection put everybody on notice with a dominant victory over "The Invasion" Evil AlbertBeefcake & Shen_DuHBK! It was a bloodless victory, but so total that it immediately rendered the legendary pairing of Oozaru & Banging favourites to win!
An unfavourable draw put "Brexiteers" Liam & nif on the fasttrack to early elimination. They were the most noteworthy team to bow out in Round 1, with rxvt & deadly slightly disappointed to go down to Mark & Leroy in a competitive clash. An all-Invasion battle produced another close fought bout, with Loopster & Jauger upsetting more frequently paired WilliamRegal & TripleH.
The Second Round turned up the heat as the favourites continued to press their advantage. Statix & The_Hurricane came closest to upsetting the balance in the final match of Round 2. "King of the World" Ken & Bee_07 were a mild surprise as they derailed the international effort of "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade, who returned to active competition at All-Star Summer Showdown.
It was an All-Star Summer rematch when Jammer2Omega & Porygonix did their best to overcome the Duo supremacy of The Pacific Connection! They pushed the legends with a tenacious fight, but were unable to overcome their years of experience! It was similar disappointment for their rivals "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge, who were overwhelmingly defeated by emerging favourites "The New Generation" DECEPTION & Onryo!
The resulting Semi Final was a perfect blend of fresh faces and old favourites! "The 5 Minute Kismet" Baraka_MK & MKMaster have only been a combination for the past few months, but they made a serious challenge to The Pacific Connection! It was slightly less competitive for their rivals The New Generation, who didn't have too much trouble dealing with the new combination of "The United" Shoe & zelse. The United dominated in the earlier rounds, but the rookie status of zelse means there's still work to be done as Shoe guides him through the world of duo combat!
The final battle was a dream match of sorts, directing the two strongest duos from All-Star Summer Showdown towards a collision course of epic proportions! The Hitman reaching the Grand Final of last week's Summer Grand Slam may've been a double-edged sword, showcasing his ability to fight in the elimination format - but also diverting his energy! With some of the hottest new teams falling to The Pacific Connection, the need for The New Generation to be at their best was great! For the second time in two weeks, DECEPTION was forced to accept 2nd place! A hard fought contest ending with Oozaru & Banging claiming total tournament victory!
With the ICWW 15th Anniversary celebration on-going, it was a fitting result, but after several failed opportunities against Duo Division Champions CCShadow & Scott-Howell, the title prospects for The Pacific Connection remain uncertain! The fate of the gold will likely be determined in the coming weeks as we count down to Supercard 98: Night of Champions VI! Stay tuned!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Finals
128 fighter came to compete in the 2017 Summer Grand Slam, and with some of the greatest names in history returning among them -- it was always sure to be a thrilling tournament! The Quarter Finals showed there was no room for upstarts this year. The 2017 Semi Finals featured an elite line-up of former champions and Hall of Famers -- the first Grand Slam this year without Mime in the Semis!
If things had gone differently it could've been an all United final, but only Mimik made it past a hotly contested Quarter Final stage! Historically the Hall of Famer hasn't been a strong tournament fighter, but he emerged a dark horse after wins against Violent`J and LordSkarlet. Genku struggled with Artanix in the Quarters, but had a full tank of reserves when he attacked the Semis! The highly controversial Genku took control of his destiny, securing a convincing win to advance to the final!
When DECEPTION defended his first Undisputed Championship against Kron in the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix VI, he cemented his place among the top tier of competition! At Ultimate Grand Prix VII, the competitive rivalry was revisited with the same outcome. The Semi Final of the 2017 Summer Grand Slam gave Kron a chance to add a notch to his win column, but after walking through his match with TPB, it was Kron's turn to run out of gas! The Hitman, on the other hand, was peaking at the right time. Knowing his rival so well, DECEPTION delivered one of the most shocking results in a tournament final when he executed MAX Damage to the Hall of Famer! His second MAX impact for the tournament, having decimated TonyTheTiger in the Fourth Round!
With such a rare, strong performance coming late in the tournament, "The Hitman" DECEPTION immediately became the favourite heading into the Grand Slam Final! For DECEPTION, it was a return to the peak of competition, having slipped out of title contention over the course of the year. Genku too was fighting to take control of his own destiny, convinced of a conspiracy against him that kept him out of the Royal Roulette match. Both competitors came at the final battle with their very best, but in the end it was the controversial Invasion fighter who edged out the win!
With his first tournament crown since the 2013 Summer Grand Slam; Genku took the opportunity to address his All-Star Summer Showdown nemesis: Chairman Mick! He promised he wasn't done with the Chairman, but first he had to take care of some overdue business. Genku announced that now he's won the 2017 Summer Grand Slam - no one can stop him coming for "The Chosen One" Damo at Supercard 98: Night of Champions to finally take back the Undisputed Championship! A bold proclamation to end another amazing year of the famed tournament!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Quarters
Eight all-star competitors advanced to the Quarter Final round of the 2017 Summer Grand Slam! With two Hall of Famers and six former Undisputed Champions competing, expectations were at an all-time high! It turned out experience-plus was the key to an edge in the close fought Quarters!
Genku found himself vulnerable in the opening QF, drained after claiming an impressive victory over Ratt in the Fourth Round! United: Artanix came highly motivated, seizing the opportunity to advance his solo credentials. He came close to upsetting Genku in Round 2 of this year's Grand Prix Warm-Up. The United fighter had to settle for almost - coming tantalizingly close to scoring the upset win. After such a hard fought battle, Genku enters the Semi Final with a major question mark.
United: Mimik found momentum from his defeat of Violent`J in the last round, flexing his muscles against a less experienced rival in "Red Nightmare" LordSkarlet. Mimik was never known for his tournament prowess, but showed phenomenal form in his Quarters clash. LordSkarlet had a hard win against "Champion of Champions" Poasty coming into the Quarters, but Mimik's performance was at a high level! The +3 impact could elevate Mimik to a dark horse contender!
As the last remaining top seed; United: Mime had the confidence of having made the Semi Finals of this year's Grand Slam Open, Grand Prix Warm-Up, and Mid-Year Grand Slam! He seemed destined to make it four from four, but the reigning KFL Champion hadn't counted on DECEPTION! The Hitman devastated TonyTheTiger in Round 4, executing a dominant MAX Damage win! Momentum was on clearly on DECEPTION's side, but the clash would turn out to be the big fight of Day 6! Mime did his best to dig his heels in, but The Hitman has been eager to fight his way back to the top of the league! It was a competitive contest, but in the end, Mime's Semi Final streak came to an end.
Like DECEPTION; United: The_Purple_Bunny has been solely motivated by the desire to win the Undisputed Championship once again. He wants to win his 7th title reign in 2017! It was enough to spur him past All-Star Summer nemesis Marz, but there was nothing left in the tank when he came up against one of the most revered Hall of Famers in history: Kron! Kron had his own struggles, edging past VenoMark in a hard fought Fourth Round clash. He wasn't in great shape heading into the QF, but old enemy TPB had absolutely nothing left. The Kron Line capitalized, consuming TPB in a bitter defeat!
The final day of competition will decide the winner of the 2017 Summer Grand Slam! For "The Hitman" DECEPTION and Kron it will be an Ultimate Grand Prix rematch that could decide the ultimate winner! In the other half: Genku and United: Mimik will battle for the recognition they've so long been denied! Two Hall of Famers, four former champions - one Grand Slam Tournament winner! It all begins tomorrow with the Semi Finals!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Round 4
It's not often you see a MAX Damage result from a Round 4 dream match, but that's exactly what we were treated to at the 2017 Summer Grand Slam! It was an all-star round of sixteen, with only one seed making it three -- and three of five Hall of Famers biting the dust!
"The Hitman" DECEPTION was the impact player of the Fourth Round, living up to his name in a devastating victory against "The Predator" TonyTheTiger! TTT struggled to keep up the pace in the match, contributing heavily to the punishing MAX Damage loss. #3 seed United: Mime fought a more even match in his comprehensive win over SubMan799. Mime has reached the Semi Finals of all three Grand Slam Tournaments this year, and will go into the Quarters firm favourite despite the severity of DECEPTION's R4 victory.
United: The_Purple_Bunny announced himself as the fighter to watch, executing a near perfect fight against Marz! The grudge match result reversed fortunes at All-Star Summer Showdown that momentarily distanced TPB from his driving goal of winning a 7th Undisputed Championship in 2017. If he's able to continue the pace he's shown in his last two matches, it could be the fasttrack! He will find stiff competition from another old rival, however. Kron's near-miss in Round 3 must've been a wake-up, or perhaps just conserving energy. He crossed swords with #2 seed VenoMark, who fought close to his very best! A high-caliber close fought bout!
"Red Nightmare" LordSkarlet was impressive in his elimination of #4 seed Poasty! The "Champion of Champions" showed potential for another big defying of odds, but LordSkarlet was able to call upon his superior experience to match the Royal Roulette winner's penchant for momentum. With United: Mimik comfortably besting fellow Hall of Famer Violent`J, it's anyone's guess what will happen in the Quarter Finals! Mimik's early career was dotted with poor tournament showings, but he's been making up for it in his second career with The United!
It was another of The United's impressive number that brought an end to the upstart run of Statix! He took out the Undisputed Champion in Round 2, but was out-gunned by United: Artanix in the Fourth! He'll face a highly motivated Genku in the Quarters, as the controversial Invasion fighter comes off a high of decimating Ratt in a huge win!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Round 3
A strong field surged through Round 3 of the 2017 Summer Grand Slam as the All-Star field began to assert itself! A who's who of competitors advanced to Round 4, setting up a scintillating round of sixteen with three top seeds, and five Hall of Famers still live in the bracket!
Reigning KFL Champion and #3 seed United: Mime delivered the most destructive impact of the round, executing a +17 demolition against Porygonix. The United delivered all of the double digit impacts for the round, with Artanix and Mimik crushing their opponents for +11 and +10 damage.
The impacts weren't as flashy, but three fighters asserted themselves with impressive heavyweight performances. All-time great Ratt was at his scintillating best when he beat Invasion figurehead DaemonX! The benefit of a bye in the last round helped Marz come in fresh against DeathScepter, setting up an All-Star Summer Showdown rematch with United: The_Purple_Bunny, who was at his best in a comprehensive elimination of ICWW alum Shamrock!
The #2 seed VenoMark weathered a notably competitive match with MKMaster. He'll face a Kron who just narrowly made it past G0LD in a remarkably close fought match! Kron's looked strong until now, despite suffering a high-profile loss at All-Star Summer Showdown. #4 seed Poasty had the benefit of an unprecedented double withdrawal from Round 2, granting him a ticket straight into the Fourth Round. "Red Nightmare" LordSkarlet should provide a tough challenge after taking out DArqueBishop in a comprehensive elimination!
Round 4 is littered with main event match-ups and hot rivalries! Genku has been out to prove a point, but will face one of the toughest opponents possible when he meets Ratt! Only one Hall of Famer will survive when United: Mimik takes on "Y2Juggalo" Violent`J! Summer bad blood will be revisited when Marz faces United: The_Purple_Bunny. The sleeper of the round could just be "The Predator" TonyTheTiger versus "The Hitman" DECEPTION!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Round 2
High caliber competition at the 2017 Summer Grand Slam pushed the Second Round into just about every conceivable outcome! There were shock upsets, a seed elimination, MAX Damage, close fought contests, walkthrough byes -- and even the first-ever double withdrawal!
Expectations were immediately thrown out in the first fight when reigning Undisputed Champion and #1 seed Damo was upset by Statix! It was a bad case of deja vu, reminding everyone of Damo's Round 2 loss in the Mid-Year Grand Slam! That result earned Poasty the moniker of "Champion of Champions", and as #4 seed, he earned another confident win in Round 2 against 4-time Div.2 Champ: SubScorpTile! Thanks to unprecedented circumstances: Poasty will advance straight to the Fourth Round -- completely skipping the Third via a bye!
The Pacific Connection may've dominated at All-Star Summer Showdown, but Oozaru infamously left the league early last year when the random draw of Tournament 66 pit him against his partner: Banging. Fate once again matched Oozaru and Banging in the Second Round, and Oozaru again refused to fight his friend. Unwilling to take advantage, Banging also declined to advance, resulting in a double withdrawal! It means the 2017 Mid-Year Grand Slam winner is out of the tournament - and Poasty gets that bye in Round 3!
Allegiances were also tested when members of The United met in the Second Round. Mimik did not shy away from the contest, finding himself hungry for tournament success in another inter-team contest! He earned a convincing win against Shoe, but one wonders what the cost of advancement may be considering his battles last year with Hokey, and earlier this year against TPB. Not a concern he'll have to worry about until the finals. The_Purple_Bunny advanced with a solid win against notorious "Italian Bishop" Shen_DuHBK.
#3 seed and KFL Champ United: Mime had no trouble dealing with Jammer2Omega in a match-up that drew curiosity. He'll face J2O's partner in the Third Round after Porygonix advanced against Killswitch. #2 seed VenoMark was also a comfortable winner against Mime's teammate, United: Murdoink. He'll face one-half of The 5 Minuet Kismet duo - MKMaster.
Only one Hall of Famer fell out of the race in Round 2: Division 2 Champion Shinnokxz earned a big scalp when he beat the much talked about Rockey316! It was smooth sailing for Marz thanks to a bye provided by a Day 2 draw. Shamrock earned a solid win against Red_Spaniard of The Red Reign. Kron delivered one of two MAX Damage wins of the day against upstart GuiltyByDesign. The other came when Violent`J brought an end to the run of J-Spit, who suffered the direst of consequences from his defeat. J-Spit marks the second sidelined casualty from the 2017 Summer Grand Slam.

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Day 2
The encore to the All-Star Summer Showdown continued with Day 2 of the annual 2017 Summer Grand Slam! The bottom half of Round 1 delivered more hard-hitting, star-studded eliminating as the final prestigious Grand Slam Tournament for the year brought out all the big names!
#3 seed and KFL Champion United: Mime picked up one of two MAX Damage wins on Day 2! He utterly destroyed Brexiteer Liam in the opening match! United: The_Purple_Bunny delivered the other ultimate destruction, destroying another prominent figure from the Duo Division: edge! The #2 seed VenoMark was next most destructive in his Round 1 win, dominating Mo2 for -20p!
We learned the random draw has evenly distributed eight Hall of Famers competing in this year's Summer Grand Slam! Kron ruined the glendi of The Greek Crisis' Summer comeback by beating maxilos. ICWW All-Stars Marz, Rockey316, and a DOAX returning Shamrock, were also confident First Round winners!
The Mid-Year Grand Slam was a bloodless event, but "The Predator" TonyTheTiger reminded everyone of his lethal potential when he executed the first fatal victory of Tournament 82! Many competitors have been trying to break "Wild Pegasus" Zentile, but for the last two years he's managed to fight on the edge. His high-risk style finally caught up with him in a devastating loss!
Day 2 of the Summer Grand Slam also had the distinction of featuring the first draw! xort was part of a Day 1 tie in the Mid-Year Grand Slam, and once again found himself fighting to a standstill, this time against Benjamin! A bizarre case of the same crud happening to the same guy twice!
"Mad Dog" Onryo was one of the shock exits of Day 2, losing an unlikely close fought bout to GuiltyByDesign! The second-half of the reigning Duo Division Champions was knocked out when NovaStarr defeated Scott-Howell. Duo Division hopefuls Jammer2Omega and Porygonix both bounced back from their All-Star Summer Showdown disappointment, with J2O claiming a big win against Nephrite to set-up a Round 2 clash with the KFL Champion!
Other big names to watch in the Second Round include: "The Hitman" DECEPTION, Division 2 Champion Shinnokxz, King Ken, Evil AlbertBeefcake, The_Hurricane, Shen_DuHBK, G0LD, MKMaster, SubMan799, and United: Murdoink.

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Day 1
There was no quit in the best competitors in the league as the 2017 Summer Grand Slam got under way just twenty-four hours after a massive All-Star Summer Showdown! The random bracket for Day 1 was a star-studded affair, with "The Chosen One" Damo (#1) and Poasty (#4) advancing from seeded placements at the top and bottom of the half-bracket!
Damo's win sets up another intriguing Second Round face-off, this time with ICWW All-Star Statix, who executed a staggering MAX Damage win against Politics. It was bad news for Politics' partner Menas, as well! He took the other MAX Damage loss at the hands of Genku, who eliminated Statix at All-Star Summer Showdown during the team clash between The Invasion and Mick's All-Stars!
There were strong, All-Star wins all across the First Round bracket! "Red Nightmare" LordSkarlet, United: Artanix, United: Shoe, DaemonX, Banging, and DArqueBishop also advanced with strong results.

Jerrod advanced to the Second Round despite drawing the defending 2016 Summer Grand Slam champ, and reigning 2016 & 2017 Grand Slam Launch winner: ElJobber. ElJobber hoped to defend his crown, but was forced to make a last minute withdrawal after suffering a punishing Steel Cage Fight defeat at All-Star Summer Showdown!

Tournament 81: Mid-Year Grand Slam - Finals
Predicting a winner after tense Quarter Finals was a difficult task for the final day of the 2017 Mid-Year Grand Slam! 128-fighters started the random drawn event - whittled down to four fighting warriors who all had convincing cases for ultimate victory!
Hall of Famers were heavily featured coming in to the tournament, and in the Semi Finals, Kron emerged a firm favourite to win the crown. As a 2015 Finalist; history appeared to be on Kron's side, but August will also mark the 15th Anniversary of ICWW, where history beckons Oozaru! In the months following a UGP reunion; Oozaru reminded everyone of his tag team prowess as one-half of The Pacific Connection. In the Mid-Year Grand Slam, he was out to remind that he has also been an accomplished solo act! In surprisingly convincing fashion, the former ICWW International Champion eliminated Kron! A minor upset with a convincing result!
For the third consecutive time, United: Mime walked into the Semi Finals of a Grand Slam event! He was a near miss at the 2017 Grand Slam Launch and Grand Prix Warm-Up, and proved once again that he would not concede quietly! VenoMark has been having one of the strongest years of his career, carrying the Undisputed Championship through the main event of UGP. Hungry to get back into the title chase, he found the extra push necessary to get past the reigning KFL Champion!
With his recent successes at the highest individual level: VenoMark appeared to be the favourite to win his second Grand Slam crown. The toll of his peak performances were clearly taking their toll, however. Oozaru thrived on being under estimated and exploded into the Grand Final with a hard hitting +3 impact! It recalled some of his most devastating exploits in the days of ICWW, where his back breaking power style overcame some of the best technical competitors in that league!
Dead Or Alive X will celebrate the 15th Anniversary of ICWW in a special milestone presentation of the DOA lineage! The special will take place on the anniversary of the very first ICWW match: August 10th! It's all part of a packed Summer Season in The Great Arena that begins in July with Supercard 96: Royal Roulette! How will Oozaru factor in? Stay tuned for key developments!

Tournament 81: Mid-Year Grand Slam - Quarters
There are always risks associated with a reigning champion competing in a Grand Slam bracket!
In Round 2, Division 2 Champion Poasty proved that fact when he shunted Damo into an early exit in a match of Champion vs Champion! The Man Who Eliminated the Undisputed Champion already has a major feather in his cap, but he wanted a Mid-Year Grand Slam, as well. Poasty's Quarter Final rival wasn't as unlikely as he had been when facing The Champ. Oozaru may technically still qualify as a Division 2 fighter, but like so many of the ICWW alum, he's shown a capacity for consistent high quality performances. The Great Arena has seen that recently as he conquered the Duo Division, but he also made the Semi Final of this year's Grand Prix Warm-Up. Oozaru was not as strong as he'd been in Round 4, but Poasty was spent. A decisive result to put the Div.2 champ out.
CaTigeReptile has been known as "The Guardian", but in the Mid-Year Grand Slam her only cause was herself. She's been fighting to reach the pinnacle of the Undisputed Championship, but her most recent efforts have been derailed by The_Purple_Bunny. She found herself in a Quarter Final that could make her the contender she's always strived to be. All she had to do was defeat a Hall of Fame legend who goes by the name Kron! With All-Star Summer Showdown on the horizon, Kron had returned to the Mid-Year Grand Slam to fight his way to another major match. He showed signs of the tournament taking its toll as CTR threw herself into the match. It was a competitive contests, but in the end, Kron guaranteed a Hall of Famer will compete in the final with a strong win!
In the minds of many: Ratt is the greatest competitor of all-time! Before the tournament he was a favourite to win, but a mostly unspectacular draw of opponents had meant the defending 2016 Mid-Year Grand Slam winner had gone largely overlooked! VenoMark had faced far more intense scrutiny as the #3 seed, even though none of his opponents could compare to the challenge he faced in the Quarter Final! Rattamania was alive and well in his return to the Mid-Year Final, forcing VenoMark to find his best - and he did! VenoMark showed tremendous hunger as he fought back the famous fighting spirit of Rattamania to enforce his own desire for tournament glory! With such an impressive win, the recent former Undisputed Champion now sets himself up as a frontrunner to go all the way!
Reigning KFL Champion United: Mime left nothing to doubt as he marched his way toward his third consecutive Grand Slam Semi Final! He factored into the conclusion of the 2017 Grand Slam Launch and Grand Prix Warm-Up, earlier this year. Faced with Banging he met one-half of a white hot Pacific Connection, and an opponent with similar versatility as a duo and solo competitor. Sadly, Banging couldn't convert his recent tag team success to join Oozaru in the Semis. Mime was never in doubt of winning! His comprehensive victory adds to a string of impressive scalps that could signal a tournament crown in Mime's future!
The final four will meet tomorrow in the last battles to determine the winner of the 2017 Mid-Year Grand Slam tournament! The Semi Finals will begin with a clash of Hall of Famers as Oozaru takes on Kron meet in a collision of eras! Then two of the star champions of 2017 will duke it out as VenoMark meets United: Mime in a match full of intriguing chemistry! Then there will be only two to compete in the final battle! Who will they be? Stay tuned for an epic finale!

Tournament 81: Mid-Year Grand Slam - Round 4
Only one seed remained after an explosive Round 4 at the 2017 Mid-Year Grand Slam! Both of the year's two previous Grand Slam Tournament winners were knocked out of the Round of 16!
Grand Slam Launch winner and #2 seed ElJobber was victim of a minor upset when reigning KFL Champion, and former Unholy Alliance partner United: Mime earned a comprehensive victory! The 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up winner and #4 seed DECEPTION found himself outmatched in a more competitive contest with "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile!
MKMaster had been a shock Runner-Up in April's Grand Prix Warm-Up, but his dark horse status finally ran out when #3 seed VenoMark overcame another upstart performance. Oozaru announced himself as another serious threat with his second consecutive MAX Damage win! This time the devastating impact came at the expense of a recently in-form TonyTheTiger!
"Portuguese Pegasus" Zentile has been fighting on the edge for a long time, always unpredictable in exciting high-stakes battles. Kron stepped up to finally shut down the threat that claimed United: Mimik in Round 2, and King Ken in Round 3. The +7 impact proved to be the second biggest in an otherwise close fought round.
The man who eliminated the Undisputed Champion, Poasty, secured another strong win on his path to the Finals. Shinnokxz was competitive, but once again couldn't quite rise to the challenge of the Div.2 Champion. The only other title-holder still active in the draw was Scott-Howell, who lost an incredible hard fought clash with 3-time Duo Division Champion and living legend: Ratt!
It's sure to be an incredible finals series as eight completely viable contenders advance to the Mid-Year Grand Slam Quarter Finals! It's becoming one of the most difficult tournaments to predict, with a potential Tournament 81 winner in every match!

Tournament 81: Mid-Year Grand Slam - Round 3
It looked as if things might settle in Round 3 of the 2017 Mid-Year Grand Slam, but there was one major casualty that shocked everyone in attendance!
United: The_Purple_Bunny started the year off right winning his first Battle Royale match, but has been on a rough ride ever since as he fights to make it 7 Undisputed Championships in 2017! This time the woe came from former Div.2 Champion Benjamin -- an unexpected source, whose efforts this year have been directed at breaking into the Duo Division!
There were surprising close calls for "The Predator" TonyTheTiger and "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile. The always dangerous NovaStarr tested a vulnerable TTT. The second round bye may have dulled CTR as she went up against Invasion ace Jason_Voorhees in a close match. Even Hall of Famer Kron went from extreme dominance to a cautious win over Loopster! The wildcard factor of Zentile managed an upset victory to end the promising return of King Ken.
For every difficult scrape in Round 3 there was a domination! #4 seed DECEPTION was every bit the precision Hitman when he took down Angelia for MAX Damage. Oozaru also dominated a +30p win executing nightbreed_16! Duo Division champ Scott-Howell jumped into the Impact Players with a surprise +19 victory over Jerrod. Smokin' Scott's rival Banging kept both Pacific Connection fighters in the mix with a +17 takedown of deadpool!
After featuring in a massive upset win over the Undisputed Champion; Poasty kept his focus straight in a less publicized battle with former IWA Heavyweight Champion TripleH. The win sets up a Round 4 rematch with Supercard 94 challenger Shinnokxz, who took out Poasty's old arch-nemesis Murdoink in a solid win. That's sure to be one of the fights to watch in the Round of 16!

Tournament 81: Mid-Year Grand Slam - Round 2
All eyes were on the first match of Round 2 as the Mid-Year Grand Slam played host to a battle of Champion versus Champion! The Undisputed Champion and #1 seed Damo was up against Division 2 Champion Poasty. Just three days after Damo conquered Tower of Power XIX to re-claim the top prize, it was Poasty's turn to overcome incredible odds with one of the biggest wins of his career!
#2 seed ElJobber brought his A-game in the other marquee match-up of the round, surviving old rival Violent`J in a high-level Hall of Fame contest! #3 seed VenoMark didn't have nearly as tough a time with kororaa -- utterly annihilating her with MAX Damage! #4 seed DECEPTION also had a comfortable night at the office, besting Brexiteer Liam with a +8 impact.
Ratt joined the action and the Impact Players in his first match of the tournament! Coming out fresh from his unexpected first round bye, he executed a devastating MAX Damage blow to the Red Reign recruit who did show up: Red_Spaniard. Thanks to the Day 1 tie, we saw another walkthrough with "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile advancing to the third round. She'll be a major favourite when she comes up against Invasion duo dominator Jason_Voorhees!
The Red Reign seemed to be the measure for some of the most promising competitors moving into the Third Round! Kron fought an exceptional battle to effortlessly eliminate Sekktor. Frustrated United fighter The_Purple_Bunny found his mojo in a similarly dominant win over legoslayer10!
TPB's win almost had a hint of spite in it as his teammate and recent rival Mimik succumbed to a totally unexpected victory for European firebrand Zentile! We've seen Mimik get one over on TPB a few times, including their clash at Pre-Show 95. United KFL Champion Mime has kept neutral, and had a noteworthy victory against a disappointed DArqueBishop!
Other fighters confidently striding into Round 3 included: Oozaru, King Ken, "The Predator" TonyTheTiger, Banging, MKMaster, Baraka_MK, Benjamin, NovaStarr, "Sword of Europe" Chromatose, and Shinnokxz.

Tournament 81: Mid-Year Grand Slam - Day 2
Day 2 of the First Round introduced some of the first major upsets to the 2017 Mid-Year Grand Slam! The random draw loaded up the second-half of the bracket with ten fighters featured at Supercard 95: Tower of Power XIX! This included a Round 1 rematch showdown between C7 qualifier MKMaster and Tower gatekeeper Statix! A surprise win for MKM, who could be a dark horse given his Runner-Up appearance at the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up!
By far the biggest shock exit of Day 2 was Genku! His recent woes went from bad to worse when he stumbled through a devastating loss to Darfus! There was also some surprise when returning Hall of Famer Ratt received a walkthrough to the Second Round! Officials announced the late withdrawal of "Red Nightmare" LordSkarlet, whose recent heavy schedule included a MAX Damage loss at Supercard 93, and a Steel Cage fight at Supercard 94 that left him hurting worse than the loser!
The_Purple_Bunny and Baraka_MK contributed to the brutality of the first round, executing hard hitting wins to the tune of +18 and +14 impacts respectively! Top seeds ElJobber (#2) and VenoMark (#3) passed through the first time with comfortable wins over Menas and Kiara85.
The random nature of the draw nearly delivered an intriguing Round 2 scenario when Duo Division Champions CCShadow and Scott-Howell were drawn at close proximity. SubMan799 managed to eliminate CCS in a close fought match. Scott-Howell progressed with an impressive victory against Invasion leader DaemonX!
There are a lot of major contenders to watch in the second half of the draw! Other names of note making their way to Round 2 include: KFL Champion United: Mime, "Y2Juggalo" Violent`J, DArqueBishop, Banging, Jerrod, Porygonix, Benjamin and 2017 Fighter for Europe tournament winner Chromatose!

Tournament 81: Mid-Year Grand Slam - Day 1
The heavy-hitters led the way on the first day of the 2017 Mid-Year Grand Slam!
Seven of the competitors from last night's Supercard 95: Tower of Power XIX were in action -- all securing confident victories in the First Round! Chief among them was newly crowned Undisputed Champion Damo, who utterly destroyed an unlucky Stealth-Ninja in the opening match!
It was a high impact start to the tournament all around! Returning Hall of Fame legend Kron got his tournament off to a brutal start with a MAX Damage destruction of The New Generation's "Mad Dog" Onryo! #4 seed DECEPTION was the next deadliest winner, progressing to the next round with a +17 demolition against IAmAce!
The random draw created a competitive contest between Duo Division aces Jammer2Omega and Jason_Voorhees. The pair of Js were remarkably well matched, resulting in one of the narrowest wins of the round for The Invasion's Jason! As if to one better: Nemesis316 and xort fought to a definitive standstill in the match immediately following!
Other winners to watch included "The Predator" TonyTheTiger, Oozaru, United: Mimik, "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile and King Ken. It was also a positive showing for reigning Division 2 Champion Poasty, whose victory sets up a clash of champions in Round 2 against the Undisputed Champion: Damo!

Tournament 80: 2017 Fighter For Europe
The 2017 Fighter For Europe tournament was a different animal twelve months on from last year's gathering! Casualties of combat meant fighters from Great Britain were granted more representation through four fighters, including controversial duo: "Brexiteers" Liam & nif. The field was as eager to eliminate them, as they were the ever-dangerous #1 & #2 seeds: Nephrite and Chromatose!
Fears for a British takeover appeared founded in the First Round when Dez-Burnett inflicted a +4 impact to eliminate Cukier, while Liam and Leroy advanced with solid wins. Defending 2016 Champion and #1 seed Nephrite succeeded in at least taking out nif in an elementary opening fight.
Liam avenged the exit of his Brexiteer partner in the harshest possible way, executing a completely unexpected MAX Damage impact against Nephrite! #2 seed Chromatose immediately replaced his rival as favourite to win, surviving a close fought match with Dez-Burnett! Liam was the lone British hope to graduate the Second Round, with Leroy falling to a Portuguese Pegasus fighting from the edge! One-man Greek Revolution maxilos was also a surprise elimination!
The Semi Finals made it clear Liam was fast becoming the fighter to be concerned with! Zentile had exhausted his powers with an earlier +6 impact in the First Round, succumbing to a close fought win against the Brexiteer. #2 seed Chromatose made a more convincing case when he edged out Sgtf in a rematch of their hard hitting 2016 Semi Final!
For the first time since the inaugural Fighter For Europe tournament: A Briton would fight for the prestigious honor of being European champion. A bitter irony given Liam's status as a Brexiteer, and the wars he fought against The European Union in 2016! Chromatose would be the continent's sword against such an insult to their honor, honed in Hungarian wins over the 2014 & 2015 European tours.
In fact, it was the #2 seeds' fifth consecutive year appearing in the final fight! The only European fighter to defeat him in past contests was Nephrite! This fact remained true as Chromatose gathered himself for a frontal assault against Brexiteer Liam! He was unrelenting in his attack, leaving nothing to doubt in a solid victory that claimed 2p from the upstart Briton!
As per tradition, Chromatose will now challenge the Division 2 Champion during tomorrow's Pre-Show 93: Reconnecting...! Awaiting the chosen Fighter For Europe will be Canadian Spring Classic winner Poasty, whose return to the title has created expectations for a major reign! Will the three-time Fighter for Europe add Championship gold to his prestigious tournament crown? Be here tomorrow - Sunday, May 14th for all the results from Pre-Show 93!

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Finals
It began with 128-fighters, and for most of the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up there was no clear stand-out in the field! A small army of contenders had fallen away, leaving the Semi Finals to finally bring the annual UGP Grand Slam to a close! Three of the four names had absolute credence as prospective winners, but the presence of one wildcard meant uncertainty for all.
Hall of Famer Oozaru had never intended to enter Tournament 78 to win. He just wanted to use the draw to strike a blow at DaemonX in the name of his tormented friend and legendary Pacific Connection partner: Banging. For "The Hitman" DECEPTION it was a completely different story. For three years in a row the Grand Prix Warm-Up had been DECEPTION's time to shine. Last year it became his first Grand Slam Tournament crown and with a UGP rematch awaiting him - he came to Tournament 78 to repeat his success. The Semi was DECEPTION's hardest fight of the entire event, but in a close fought, hard hitting battle the defending champion broke through, securing his place in his third consecutive Grand Prix Warm-Up Final!
United: Mime was a potential winner from the very start, but his case grew considerably over the course of five previous rounds. He was the only fighter during Tournament 78 to inflict MAX Damage on his opponents -- a feat her performed twice! MKMaster scored a +18 impact in his Round 2 fight against Bronzie, but nobody ever suspected he could go the distance. He avoided a collision with the #2 seed when Jerrod eliminated her in a Round 3 upset. MKM earned his way, but nobody was sure if it was just a fluke. Things became a lot clearer in the Semi Final when Mime found himself lacking the power of his earlier triumphs. MKMaster seized his opportunity, taking full advantage of Mime's uncharacteristic weakness! He held firm and finally claimed the scalp he needed to prove himself! The biggest win of his career leading to the biggest match of his life!
There was no escaping the obvious mismatch in the final battle. DECEPTION had a pedigree at this particular event that was second to none. MKMaster had never reached a tournament final and gave no reason to expect him to do as well as he had! Anything seemed possible, but The Hitman had his sights set on a repeat of history and he wasn't going to be denied! DECEPTION summoned his very best and MKMaster did the same. When the dust settled, the result was decisive...
For the second year in a row DECEPTION was the Grand Prix Warm-Up winner! With his victory, he now looks ahead to Ultimate Grand Prix VII where Hall of Fame legend Kron will await to test his mettle on the grandest stage of them all. Just as Tournament 78 was a repeat of the 2016 Grand Prix Warm-Up, the match at UGP7 will be a rematch of their main event battle at Ultimate Grand Prix VI! Will history continue to repeat itself? Can DECEPTION fight his way to the Undisputed Championship that defined his 2016? Be here April 2nd to find the answers!

Tournament 78: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Quarters
All eyes were on the Quarter Finals for an intriguing blend of the highly anticipated, and the totally unexpected! Much of the 2017 Grand Prix Warm-Up had gone according to plan, but results from the Fourth Round had created some of the most unusual combinations of the event!
Hall of Fame ICWW alum Oozaru made his unexpected return at Supercard 89: Breaking Point to finally fight for the tortured soul of his famed Pacific Connection partner Banging. He only entered Tournament 78 to steel himself for the fight ahead and make a dent in The Invasion's conquest, but Scott-Howell took out Oozaru's ultimate target DaemonX in Round 3! The big man settled for an elementary win, besting Scott-Howell to earn his way into the Semi Finals.
This time last year "The Hitman" DECEPTION and AlbertBeefcake met in the final battle of this very tournament! On that day, DECEPTION was the reigning Undisputed Champion and he backed it up with his first Grand Slam tournament victory ahead of a UGP title defense against Kron! It was as if destiny ordained a tournament rematch in preparation for DECEPTION's rematch with Kron at the coming UGP. Rather than merely drift through re-runs, The Hitman improved upon history by unleashing an amazing +14 impact in the Quarter Final! The victory completely bamboozled AlbertBeefcake, setting DECEPTION up for his third consecutive Grand Prix Warm-Up Semi Final!
On Monday Nights; Mimik and Mime are part of one of the most dominant collectives to ever walk into The Great Arena! In the Quarter Final of Tournament 78, they were unexpected rivals. It isn't the first time members of The United have faced each other. A championship rivalry between Mimik and Hokey famously broke out late last year. Despite the history between Hokey & Mime, there didn't appear to be any animosity when Mime raised his game to eliminate his Hall of Fame teammate.
GohanSon and MKMaster were clearly strangers in a strange land in the Quarter Finals. No one could have predicted their rise, yet GohanSon achieved the incredible feat of elimination Damo in the Fourth Round! MKMaster avoided overwhelming mismatches, benefitting from Jerrod's upset win over #2 seed CaTigeReptile in Round 3, to take out the upstart. He did it again in the Quarters, totally outclassing GohanSon with a convincing +3 impact win. It was a compelling result - the kind that made you wonder if MKMaster could've taken CTR and Damo out himself. He'll have the chance to prove his skill when he achieves the incredible feat of walking into his first tournament Semi Final!
