4 Big Matches Announced for FNF

This week's edition of Friday Night Fights will be a hotly anticipated one with five big matches pre-announced for the weekly card!

Last week: Genku sought to vent his frustrations against Undisputed Champion Damo's acquaintance DeathScepter! He was dragged to the arena for a beating and was defeated surely enough -- but not how he expected! Statix intervened to confront arch-rival Genku, sidelining DeathScepter in the process! This week on FNF DeathScepter will try to settle the score one-on-one with Statix!

The fallout from last week will continue when GuiltyByDesign challenges potential Division 2 title contender "Mad Dog" Onryo! GBD was dragged into the conflict when DECEPTION helped his New Generation partner beat reigning Div.2 Champion Shinnokxz! Now she'll attempt to spoil his run just two days before he fights a #1 contenders match at Pre-Show 98!

Onryo's opponent on Sunday will be strong Division 2 prospect: G0LD! G0LD'll have issues of their own to contend with on Friday when redman tries his luck against the rising star!

PLUS: Top Duo Jammer2Omega & Porygonix will attempt to even the score for their shock upset defeat at the hands of Killswitch & jack4813! All this and plenty more! Be here in 2 days!

Pre-Show 98 Gets Xtreme This Sunday

The stars will be out this Sunday at Pre-Show 98 for a headlining contest of trios that will be all about Xtreme Unity!

The challenge was made during yesterday's edition of Monday Night Games, where Team Xtreme were on the hunt for their Pre-Show 97 opponents: The_Purple_Bunny & Mimik! The United duo formed their alliance as a perfect plan to dominate next weekend's Night of Champions match and it turns out they have quite the chemistry! They're one of only three teams to have ever beaten Marz & Violent`J in The Great Arena! With Shaggy2Dope joining the pair, it'll be teams of three going head-to-head, with Artanix recruited by The United!

Officials have also announced a #1 Contender's match for the Division 2 Championship that will pit "Mad Dog" Onryo against rival contender G0LD! If Onryo wins, he'll be able to go for solo gold while New Generation partner DECEPTION chases the Undisputed title shot of the Night of Champions Battle Royal!

SubMan799 and Jerrod will continue the blood feud started at Summerfest 2017! Politics & Menas will look to settle the score with Duo rivals Mark & Leroy. PLUS: ]{0MBAT & tabmok99s_wife revisit their Tournament 83: Grand Slam [Doubles] clash with "The United" Shoe & zelse, and deadpool rises out of the Summer Grand Slam for a grudge match with United: Murdoink!

It all goes down this Sunday - September 17th! Be here for all the action as we continue the count down to showcase of champions and Supercard 98: Night of Champions VI!

Pre-Show 98: Xtreme Unity (September 17th, 2017):

Monday Night Games (September 11, 2017)

The_Purple_Bunny & Mimik revealed their perfect plan for success at the upcoming Night of Champions, but a well timed absence from the Monday Night Games was what kept them out of harms way when Team Xtreme came looking for a fight!

The once indomitable Marz & Violent`J haven't forgotten their historic upset loss at Pre-Show 97! They sought to disrupt The United pairing's plans with a rematch, but instead found "Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge looking to assert themselves as the #1 duo in an uncertain division. The result was an impromptu main event that put Team Xtreme back on the winner's list! It was a one-sided win, but The Invasion escaped from their brush with duo royalty with their heads held up.

Marz & Violent`J guaranteed there were other ways they could hurt their United rivals, announcing a contest of trios for this Sunday's Pre-Show 98! Old pal Shaggy2Dope will join the fight with The United, where they've promised to upset TPB & Mimik's plans - regardless of who they bring!

Shaggy2Dope had been eyeing a KFL Championship shot after a big win last week, but the intended history-making Open Challenge didn't go to plan when Poasty took the gold from United: Mime! A frustrated Shaggy2Dope challenged the former champ any way, but found himself the recipient of a devastating post-title loss MAX Damage demolition! Mime may've lost the gold last week, but he remains firmly in the hunt for a rematch!

Big wins for the rest of The United, as well! Artanix managed to repel The Invasion's heavy Evil AlbertBeefcake in a strong showing. Shoe & zelse teamed to absolutely dominate the fighting force of MattHardy & Ghrimm! There was also a nice opening win for The Greek Crisis!

Monday Night Games: Week 31 (September 11, 2017):
6. "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J d. "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge [+1]
5. United: Mime d. Shaggy2Dope [+MAX]
4. United: Artanix d. Evil AlbertBeefcake [+1]
3. "The United" Shoe & zelse d. "The Invasion" MattHardy & Ghrimm [+4]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 9/10/2017

We're still a couple of weeks away, but Night of Champions VI is already starting to shape-up. I'm looking forward to seeing what DECEPTION can do, but I'm not sure anybody will be able to stop The_Purple_Bunny & Mimik as long as their alliance holds true! We should see plenty more entrants announced in the coming days and weeks. It's getting exciting!

The Duo Division feels very vibrant right now, even as we venture towards another irregular choice of contenders. What DaemonX & Shen_DuHBK lack in experience as a team, they make up for with fire and determination. Their win over rxvt & deadly on Friday was some kind of token gesture, but it's really about the tension of The Invasion, and their desire to beat CCShadow & Scott-Howell!

The champs have had their fair share of unusual contenders, but they've also proven they can go with the biggest names in the league. I would've loved to see The New Generation going for gold. They broke back into the Duo Top 10 this week with their victory on Friday. It seems like "Mad Dog" Onryo will use that win to finally reach for the Division 2 Championship, but nothing's certain - even if it seems like it is!

I really thought Mime was headed for the KFL Championship record books! What an amazing win for "Champion of Champions" Poasty, who took full advantage of the open challenge scenario! It's been a helluva year for Poasty, who just last month was fighting for the Undisputed Championship! I think this is a good level for him. The KFL title will help him build the next phase of his career!

Controversial Duo Announced To Challenge Champs

Uncertainty has clouded the picture surrounding the Duo Division Championship in the build to Supercard 98: Night of Champions VI. Today officials have made a surprising announcement to illuminate the situation: declaring "The Invasion" DaemonX & Shen_DuHBK the challengers!

The pair will pursue a grudge most recently kindled by the August 11th edition of Friday Night Fights, where CCShadow & Scott-Howell participated in a wining trios match against The Invasion!

DaemonX & Shen_DuHBK don't have a lot of experience competing together as a duo, but they earned a trios grudge win against the ICWW All-Stars on September 1st, and followed it up with a strong victory against rxvt & deadly during this week's Friday Night Fights.

With DECEPTION's entry into the Night of Champions Battle Royal, The New Generation will step aside for the unknown quantity of The Invasion! Will their unfamiliarity provide the x-factor needed to end CCS & Howell's new Duo Division Dynasty? Find out in The Great Arena - Sunday, September 24th!

TPB & Mimik Enter Night of Champions

Earlier in the year; competitive tensions between The_Purple_Bunny and Mimik threatened to unravel the winning formula of The United! They came together as part of a re-United front in August, shocking everyone at Pre-Show 97: Summerfest 2017 when they worked together to defeat the indomitable Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J!

The TPB & Mimik pairing has continued to find unbeatable chemistry, defeating The Invasion on the August 28th edition of the Monday Night Games - and it's no coincidence! TPB missed out on a title opportunity at last year's Night of Champions when he was outgunned by Hokey and his United teammates. Now TPB plans to benefit from his alliance with Mimik to secure the chance to win his 7th Undisputed Championship in 2017!

Credentials:
TPB & Mimik have a very impressive championship pedigree between them! Mimik was part of the first year title blitz, winning gold in a controversial October Feast or Famine special. After some high profile misses that included the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix II, and a brief hiatus after joining the Hall of Fame; Mimik returned for a second phase of his career, earning two more title wins at Supercard 84 and Supercard 87: End of Days, fighting retiring teammate Hokey into 2017!

The_Purple_Bunny arrived to the title at the tail end of the first year blitz, at Battle Royale 2012. His pursuit came in fits and starts, until a compelling victory at Battle Royale 2014! He traded lasting title reigns with m0s throughout that year, establishing his credentials with successful defenses against Ratt, Kron, Genku, ElJobber, and Mimik himself! He interrupted DECEPTION's rise to the top with a surprise win at Supercard 79: Purple Reign, becoming the first 6-time Undisputed Champion!

History:
Despite his legendary status as the King of Battle Royals, Mimik's only meaningful attack on the Night of Champions match was last year! His team-up with Hokey helped get him to the final four -- but also cost him victory. The_Purple_Bunny was a runner-up at Night of Champions IV, and as this year's Battle Royale winner, he'll be a tough challenger to beat! The only question may be: if it comes down to TPB and Mimik at the end -- which United fighter will advance to the title?

TPB & Mimik think they have the perfect formula success, but for the first time in history eligibility for the Night of Champions Battle Royal will be extended to both former Undisputed Champions and former ICWW International Champions! The only way to find out who wins is to be here later this month for Supercard 98: Night of Champions VI!

Supercard 98: Night of Champions VI (September 24th, 2017):
- [To Be Determined] versus "The Chosen One" Damo (c) [Undisputed Championship]
- Night of Champions Contender Battle Royal feat. "The Hitman" DECEPTION, "The United" The_Purple_Bunny & Mimik
- ElJobber versus Genku [#1 Contender]

Friday Night Fights (September 8, 2017)

DECEPTION announced his entry into this year's Night of Champions Battle Royal earlier in the week, but he also made it known he wouldn't turn his back on New Generation teammate: "Mad Dog" Onryo. In the main event of Friday Night Fights, he showed everyone just what that loyalty meant, challenging the reigning Division 2 Champion to a battle of duos!

Shinnokxz had to scramble to find a Duo partner and found old acquaintance GuiltyByDesign to help him defend against The Hitman's challenge. The pairing was ultimately moot as the proven fighting fusion of The New Generation delivered swift defeat! The win was DECEPTION's way of helping his partner Onryo prove himself against the Division 2 champ. Will it set Onryo up for solo title opportunity while DECEPTION goes in search of Undisputed gold?

G0LD may have something to say about Onryo's championship aspirations. The highly ranked Div.2 fighter has been circling the title for some time, and executed a text book solid win against xort! G0LD had the better of Onryo when he first split from previous New Gen partner Baraka_MK, but the title picture remains uncertain.

There was nothing uncertain about Genku's intentions when he dragged DeathScepter into The Great Arena on Friday. He was still clearly fuming over last week's announcement that he won't compete for Damo's Undisputed Championship at Supercard 98. The Invasion were irregularly removed from Genku, but Damo's old Service Krew buddy was still clearly outmatched. A reprieve emerged when Statix inserted himself into the conflict, taking the fight to his old Invasion rival! The three-way scenario did DeathScepter no favours as he was overwhelmed early in the match. Statix barely fared any better himself, suffering a dominating beating at the hands of Genku!

Ironically, Statix will be one of the former ICWW Champions eligible for the Contender Battle Royal that will deliver the winner to an Undisputed Championship match at Supercard 98: Night of Champions V! It remains to be seen if Statix will take that opportunity, or continue to pursue the menace of The Invasion, who were largely absent save for DaemonX & Shen_DuHBK challenging rxvt & deadly to a Duo Division match.

New Generation Headline This Friday

"The Hitman" DECEPTION has officially entered the Champion's Battle Royal at this year's Night of Champions, where success could earn him the Undisputed Championship -- but this doesn't mean he's abandoning the recently reunited New Generation duo!

DECEPTION and "Mad Dog" Onryo will be in action in the main event of this week's Friday Night Fights, where they have a special challenge in mind! The only way to find out what it will be is to tune in for all the results from tomorrow's action!

PLUS: Genku will be back in The Great Arena! Last week he learned he won't be getting a shot at the Undisputed Championship at Supercard 98. What will he do with that knowledge now that he has to prepare for a #1 Contender's match with ElJobber? Find out tomorrow!

DECEPTION Enters Night of Champions

"The Hitman" DECEPTION reunited with his former Duo Division Championship partner "Mad Dog" Onryo just last July, following up their All-Star Summer Showdown win with Runner-Up turns in both the 2017 Summer Grand Slam and Grand Slam [Doubles] Duo Division event!

With so much success in both fields, it was obvious opportunities were stacking up for DECEPTION, but how would he use them? Today he revealed himself as the first official entrant into the Night of Champions Battle Royal. The winner of the match will be granted an Undisputed Championship match in the same night's main event!

Credentials:
DECEPTION first rose to top title contention as unexpected Runner-Up of the controversial King of the Death Match tournament in 2014! It wasn't until 2016 that he finally claimed his first Undisputed Championship win at Supercard 76: Ratt in a Cage! The title victory came by sheer force of charisma after a tenacious fight to the finish of Supercard 75: Tower of Power XV! The rematch opportunity not only delivered DECEPTION to his first solo title, but also the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix VI -- where he secured a stunning title defense against Hall of Fame legend Kron!

History:
DECEPTION was still Undisputed Champion during last year's Night of Champions V, where he successfully defended the title against Battle Royal winner Hokey. That means this year will be his first time competing in the Night of Champions Contender Battle Royal! He'll have to rely on his wits if he's to fare well in the match, but being a complete unknown could also work in his favour!

For the first time in history eligibility for the Night of Champions Battle Royal will be extended to both former Undisputed Champions and former ICWW International Champions!

"The Hitman" DECEPTION
- ElJobber versus Genku [#1 Contender]

History of the ICWW International Championship

The ties that bind the ICWW fighting organization and today's Great Arena run deep! Fighters like reigning Undisputed Champion Damo bridge the divide between two eras of competition, while the likes of "The Pacific Connection" Oozaru & Banging and Statix extend their legacy with fresh runs in today's league! The announcement of eligibility for ICWW World Champions in this year's Night of Champions Battle Royal keeps the celebrations going - but who will be able to compete?

The International Championship was created to be the most prestigious prize at that time, replacing the tarnished Heavyweight Championship as the pinnacle of competition. To forge this ultimate prize, the Heavyweight, National, and Eurasian Champions were merged, leading to the inaugural crowning of a world champion at ICWW: Breaking Point!

Today he's known as league official Chairman Mick, but as the first-ever International Champion he was a "Spirit of Vengeance" and one of the most respected fighters in the world: Michael Lucifer! He went on to hold the title a record three times, memorably feuding with arch-rival Marz!

Marz held the distinction of the longest individual reign as International Champion, retaining the title for 90 days straight in his first reign! The record pales in comparison to his 420 days as one-half of the Duo Division Champions in 2016, but the pace of competition was much faster in those days! His two reigns commanded a lot of respect, with some considering him to be the greatest ICWW World Champion of all time!

As the other half of Team Xtreme, Violent`J is well known for his 420 days as Duo Division Champ, but he also holds the distinction of being the only fighter in history to have held both the ICWW International Championship and today's Undisputed Championship! The long-time fan favourite had to work hard to get his World title reign late in ICWW's life, craving greater success. He had to beat his best friend to get it, but in the end he remains one of the most respected of the ICWW All-Stars!

Like Marz and Violent`J; Oozaru was an accomplished Tag Team Champion who found success as an International Champion! He earned his stripes over the course of ICWW's promotional lifespan, becoming an integral part in its development into the best remembered final year. His reign as World champ was brief, but there's no doubt he would've had many more had the opportunity been offered!

The final International Champion was Statix, who represented the exciting future that was cut short by ICWW's closure. Like other holders of the prestigious title, he worked hard to earn the right to call himself a World Champion. His enthusiasm and dedication will always be remembered. He's fought for the Undisputed Championship several times, including Dead Or Alive VII, but has only managed to win the KFL Championship so far.

As a former Undisputed Champion; Violent`J has already competed in previous Night of Champions Battle Royals! With the special eligibility, any one of the other former International Champions could soon join him! Will one of them rise to claim the Undisputed Championship? The only way to find out is to be here Sunday, September 24th for Supercard 98: Night of Champions VI!

Monday Night Games (September 4, 2017)

History beckoned United: Mime as he arrived for his KFL Championship Open Challenge in the main event of the Monday Night Games! He was supposed to be on the fast track to equaling the record for consecutive KFL title defenses -- but his surprise challenger clearly had different ideas!

Poasty has been called "Champion of Champions", but how can you have a moniker like that if you don't have gold? He came close to winning the Undisputed Championship just two weeks ago in the main event of All-Star Summer Showdown. As the fighter answering Mime's KFL Open Challenge; he seized the element of surprise to overwhelm a stunned Mime! Instead of a fast and easy way to the record, it turned into a championship upset as Poasty brought an unexpected end to Mime's reign!

Poasty's old rival Murdoink was the only other member of The United to suffer a loss during this week's Games. Shaggy2Dope made up for last week's disappointment with a three-way win that also saw The Invasion's Jauger getting involved in an attempt at payback for Murdoink eliminating him from the All-Star Summer Showdown Survival Sequence match!

The Invasion may've lost at the Summer Supercard, but they've continued to harass The United on Mondays! Artanix earned a hard fought win against Loopster after suffering a bitter defeat last week. Evil AlbertBeefcake made the trek to pursue hostilities with Shoe, but came up short. Even rookie member zelse bounced back from his loss last week, knocking back Ghrimm!

Monday was also host to "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade, who were looking to work off some of the rust of proXade's months out of action. After falling out of Round 2 at Sunday's Grand Slam [Doubles] tournament, Lays & piledlobster gave them a chance to find their footing.

Monday Night Games: Week 30 (September 4, 2017):
7. "Champion of Champions" Poasty d. United: Mime (c) [+1] [KFL Championship]
6. United: Artanix d. Loopster [+1]
5. United: Shoe d. Evil AlbertBeefcake [+1]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 9/3/2017

Talk about a case of deja vu! This weekend's Grand Slam [Doubles] ended the same way as the 2017 Summer Grand Slam with DECEPTION in the Runners-Up position! The New Generation came up short in a great match against "The Pacific Connection" Oozaru & Banging! A top quality duo tournament all around, but a reversal of the result I thought we were going see!

The tournament win finally gets The Pacific Connection a deserved place in the Top 10 Duos, but it's created a difficult lie for the Duo Division Championship. I'm not sure this alone can justify another match with CCShadow & Scott-Howell so soon. I'm also not convinced The New Generation are positioned to step right into that spot. It's a real conundrum and it could mean the Duo Division titles skip this year's Night of Champions!

The Undisputed Championship picture isn't any more specific, but at least we know the parameters by which it will be decided! The annual Night of Champions Battle Royal is an interesting tradition and I'm glad it'll remain in tact, despite Genku's delusions of grandeur. As much as Genku may've overstepped the mark by declaring himself #1 contender at the 2017 Summer Grand Slam, I'm not totally convinced he needed to be kept out of the Battle Royal. I wouldn't be surprised if this only fuels the fire of his conspiratorial rants - and his hatred for Chairman Mick!

A lot to look forward to this month! I'm very intrigued to see if United: Mime can follow through with his goal to break the record for most consecutive KFL Championship defenses! He's been rock solid since winning at Ultimate Grand Prix. A great stalwart of the arena! That goes down later today, so be sure to keep your eyes out for MNG results!

Tournament 83: Grand Slam [Doubles]

Tournament 83: Grand Slam [Doubles] 2017 got off to an explosive start with the very first match of the First Round! The Pacific Connection put everybody on notice with a dominant victory over "The Invasion" Evil AlbertBeefcake & Shen_DuHBK! It was a bloodless victory, but so total that it immediately rendered the legendary pairing of Oozaru & Banging favourites to win!

An unfavourable draw put "Brexiteers" Liam & nif on the fasttrack to early elimination. They were the most noteworthy team to bow out in Round 1, with rxvt & deadly slightly disappointed to go down to Mark & Leroy in a competitive clash. An all-Invasion battle produced another close fought bout, with Loopster & Jauger upsetting more frequently paired WilliamRegal & TripleH.

The Second Round turned up the heat as the favourites continued to press their advantage. Statix & The_Hurricane came closest to upsetting the balance in the final match of Round 2. "King of the World" Ken & Bee_07 were a mild surprise as they derailed the international effort of "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade, who returned to active competition at All-Star Summer Showdown.

It was an All-Star Summer rematch when Jammer2Omega & Porygonix did their best to overcome the Duo supremacy of The Pacific Connection! They pushed the legends with a tenacious fight, but were unable to overcome their years of experience! It was similar disappointment for their rivals "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge, who were overwhelmingly defeated by emerging favourites "The New Generation" DECEPTION & Onryo!

The resulting Semi Final was a perfect blend of fresh faces and old favourites! "The 5 Minute Kismet" Baraka_MK & MKMaster have only been a combination for the past few months, but they made a serious challenge to The Pacific Connection! It was slightly less competitive for their rivals The New Generation, who didn't have too much trouble dealing with the new combination of "The United" Shoe & zelse. The United dominated in the earlier rounds, but the rookie status of zelse means there's still work to be done as Shoe guides him through the world of duo combat!

The final battle was a dream match of sorts, directing the two strongest duos from All-Star Summer Showdown towards a collision course of epic proportions! The Hitman reaching the Grand Final of last week's Summer Grand Slam may've been a double-edged sword, showcasing his ability to fight in the elimination format - but also diverting his energy! With some of the hottest new teams falling to The Pacific Connection, the need for The New Generation to be at their best was great! For the second time in two weeks, DECEPTION was forced to accept 2nd place! A hard fought contest ending with Oozaru & Banging claiming total tournament victory!

With the ICWW 15th Anniversary celebration on-going, it was a fitting result, but after several failed opportunities against Duo Division Champions CCShadow & Scott-Howell, the title prospects for The Pacific Connection remain uncertain! The fate of the gold will likely be determined in the coming weeks as we count down to Supercard 98: Night of Champions VI! Stay tuned!

ICWW Champs Eligible for Night of Champions

In August, the 15th Anniversary of ICWW was celebrated at Dead Or Alive X. Now league officials have confirmed the celebration will continue into September: announcing eligibility for the Night of Champions Battle Royal will be open this year to former ICWW International Champions!

The contender's match has been open to former Undisputed Champions since the inaugural Night of Champions in 2012. It became part of a one-night double header the following year, launching the Battle Royal winner directly into a title match in the same night's main event!

The additional eligibility will increase a field of fifteen former champions, expanding beyond past Hall of Fame winners: Kron, Ratt, and Hokey! More information about the newly eligible fighters will be made available in the coming week. Check out past events for some of the other contenders:

History of the Night of Champions Battle Royal:
1. Kron elim. TonyTheTiger - Pre-Show 28: Night of Champions (Sep 9, 2012)
2. Kron elim. TonyTheTiger - Pre-Show 40: Night of Champions II (Sep 8, 2013)

5. Hokey elim. ElJobber - Supercard 83: Night of Champions V (Sep 25, 2016)

An announcement during this week's Friday Night Fights confirmed 2017 Summer Grand Slam winner Genku will skip the Battle Royal, instead projecting forward in a #1 Contender's match with another former Undisputed Champion: ElJobber! Stay tuned for more announcements.

Friday Night Fights (September 1, 2017)

The Invasion accompanied Genku in the night's main event as the 2017 Summer Grand Slam Winner attempted to stake his claim to the Undisputed Championship during the returning Friday Night Fights! The controversial fighter was instead treated to a rude awakening as Chairman Mick arrived to officially announce the annual Night of Champions!

Genku proclaimed he beat everyone at the Summer Grand Slam and should obviously be granted an immediate Undisputed Championship shot. That brought Chairman Mick out, explaining that there was actually one fighter Genku did not beat! ElJobber was forced to withdraw from the Grand Slam after his Steel Cage Fight at All-Star Summer Showdown. Therefore Genku will get an "opportunity" to check him off the list in a #1 Contender's match at Supercard 98: Night of Champions!

Furious with the championship denial; Genku attempted to get his one-on-one fight with Chairman Mick right then and there! The Chairman waved in a trio of ICWW All-Stars to wage a rematch of their All-Star Summer Survival Sequence instead! Statix, The_Hurricane & PaganFreak were all too happy to help, flying into a frontal assault against The Invasion! It was an explosive contest, but this time Genku, DaemonX & Shen_DuHBK were the ones to taste bittersweet victory!

Statix and The_Hurricane have had issues with The Invasion since Evil AlbertBeefcake went to fight by DaemonX's side. The Evil one was unforgiving earlier in the night, executing a +5 impact on an unsuspecting NOOB. It wasn't all good news for The Invasion, though.

Jammer2Omega & Porygonix secured a confident victory against Jason_Voorhees & edge just two days ahead of the Grand Slam [Doubles] tournament! Both teams were pipped by The Pacific Connection at All-Star Summer Showdown. They'll face thirty of the league's best duos in a random bracket at this Sunday's event, September 3rd! Politics & Menas prepared for the event with a fresh win as well, knocking back McDaniel & fraysol in a Summer Battle Royal grudge match!

Fallout from the All-Star Summer Battle Royal match also saw G0LD earn a competitive win against ]{0MBAT. The Red Reign's redman handled dual opponents when he and KombatKid both went after eliminator Onimike! redman's teammate Red_Spaniard was dominant in his grudge match against opening elimination getter Darfus!

All eyes were on Benjamin and xort when they clashed in a tie-breaking rematch of their First Round standstill at the Summer Grand Slam! Benjamin lived up to favourite status, but a tenacious fight from xort left many impressed with his ability to hang with the former Division 2 Champion!

Friday Night Fights (September 1, 2017):
10. "The Invasion" Genku, DaemonX & Shen_DuHBK d. Statix, The_Hurricane & PaganFreak [+1]
9. Jammer2Omega & Porygonix d. "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge [+1]
8. Evil AlbertBeefcake d. NOOB [+5]
7. Politics & Menas d. McDaniel & fraysol [+1]
6. Benjamin d. xort [+1]
5. Killswitch & jack4813 d. Piccolo & GohanSon [+1]
4. G0LD d. ]{0MBAT [+1]
3. redman d. KombatKid and Onimike [+1/+1/-2]
2. Red_Spaniard d. Darfus [+3]
1. SubMan799 d. Nemesis316 [+1]

Summer Fallout This Week on FNF

The Summer Season of competition may be drawing to an official close, but fallout from the All-Star Summer Showdown and 2017 Summer Grand Slam will continue when Friday Night Fights returns -- this week!

Jammer2Omega & Porygonix will take on "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge in a highly anticipated grudge match ahead of this weekend's Grand Slam [Doubles] tournament! It's an All-Star Summer rematch as both teams attempt to get themselves back on track before the tandem tourney!

The inconclusive result of Round 1 will also be resolved when Benjamin and xort go head-to-head in a tie breaking rematch from the Summer Grand Slam! It's not the first time xort has fought to a broadway, but will this spotlight be his chance to assert himself as one of the rising challengers?

The Annual Summer Battle Royal is expected to spillover into Friday Night Fights as well, as multi-man eliminations streamline into conventional matches! McDaniel & fraysol will take on Politics & Menas, while ]{0MBAT goes solo to challenge G0LD - and plenty more!

PLUS: 2017 Summer Grand Slam Winner Genku will return to Friday Night Fights to address his plans for the Undisputed Championship! He made it known he intends to leverage the win into a championship challenge, but with Night of Champions promising a title opportunity to any former champ who earns it on the night - he could have competition!

Scores will be settled in a massive night of competition when Friday Night Fights returns!

The Greatest KFL Championship Reigns

Reigning KFL Champion United: Mime has been dominant since winning the title back in April at Ultimate Grand Prix VII. He secured his 9th successful title defense at this year's All-Star Summer Showdown - bringing him one win away from equaling the record for most KFL title defenses!

To bring about the record-setting feat sooner: Mime has announced an Open Challenge series starting next week during the September 4th edition of the Monday Night Games!

With its inception in 2012 as the ultimate prize for the KFL sub-league, the title attracted an eclectic mix of the league's best and brightest! The rules of engagement were rewritten many times as the next phase clashed with established veterans. The title was even briefly held by Duos late in 2013! After a dramatic series in 2015 brought the sub-league to a close, the title officially opened to all contenders, becoming a broader secondary prize in its first Supercard defense at Battle Royale 2016!

There's no way of knowing who Mime will face in the record-equaling Open Challenge next week, but we do know who his rivals are for KFL Championship greatness! Monday Night Games (August 28, 2017)

The United were back in command as fall-out from last week's 2017 Summer Grand Slam gripped the returning Monday Night Games! The duos featured in their search for tournament payback, but the big news was an announcement of a KFL Championship Open Challenge for next week!

The_Purple_Bunny & Mimik continued to bury the hatchet in a blockbuster main event! The one-time rivals showed devastating solidarity as "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge teamed to seek retribution for edge's MAX Damage loss to TPB in the tournament's First Round! The all-star United combination was just too overwhelmingly powerful for their duo rivals! The result puts a real crimp in the step of the top ranking duo, who'll be one of the teams to watch during this weekend's Tournament 83: Grand Slam [Doubles] event!

It was a similar story for Jammer2Omega & Porygonix, who went out in Rounds 2 and 3 in back-to-back eliminations for #3 seed United: Mime! Mime called upon the assistance of Murdoink to answer the challenge, earning a decisive victory. It was a disappointing setback for J2O & Pory, but the perfect preparation for Mime, who announced his intentions to begin an Open Challenge for his KFL Championship! If he successfully retains in next week's main event, he will equal the record of 10 consecutive KFL title defenses!

It could be Loopster who answers Mime's Open Challenge! He shrugged off The Invasion's defeat at All-Star Summer Showdown, interfering in a challenge from Shaggy2Dope, to turn a Round 2 tournament grudge match into a three-way battle! The United's Artanix had two targets on his back, allowing Shaggy2Dope to even the score for his early tournament exit with an elimination of his own! Loopster leveraged the scenario to his own advantage, picking up a strong victory!

The lingering incursion of The Invasion also produced split results as Shoe comfortably defeated MattHardy in a hard-hitting rematch of their devastating Round 1 tournament bout! Rookie United project zelse succumbed to a close fought menace from Ghrimm! The opening match also featured an emphatic victory for giandavil, who reinforced a close fought R1 win against CRX7!

Monday Night Games: Week 29 (August 28, 2017):
6. "The United" The_Purple_Bunny & Mimik d. "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge [+2]
5. "The United" Mime (c) & Murdoink d. Jammer2Omega & Porygonix [+2]
4. Loopster d. Shaggy2Dope and United: Artanix [+2/-1/-1]
3. United: Shoe d. MattHardy [+5]
2. Ghrimm d. United: zelse [+1]
1. giandavil d. CRX7 [+2]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 8/27/2017

You've gotta hand it to Genku! Winning the 2017 Summer Grand Slam is a great way to bounce back from a frustrating loss at All-Star Summer Showdown! He's already calling an Undisputed Championship, but with Supercard 98 already committed to the Night of Champions format, I'm not sure when he thinks that match is going to take place. As a former Undisputed Champion he'll be eligible for the Night of Champs Battle Royal, but knowing Genku, that won't be enough.

I was excited to see DECEPTION make the tournament final! It's been too easy to sleep on The Hitman during Damo's reign as Undisputed Champion, but this should wake everybody up! I'll be interested to see how he uses his Runner-Up status. Will he attempt to leverage it for The New Generation now that they're back together and looking very strong after All-Star Summer Showdown, or will he project ahead to Night of Champions and the solo gold?

The overall standard for this year's Summer Grand Slam was very impressive. I was surprised just how strong the final eight were. Not a lot of upsets by comparison to past years! Sad to see a couple of casualties in "Wild Pegasus" Zentile and J-Spit. Zentile in particular has made a name fighting on the edge, and it looks like he finally met his match - The Apex Predator TonyTheTiger!

Big things coming up as we put the Summer behind us and head into September! Stay tuned!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Finals

128 fighter came to compete in the 2017 Summer Grand Slam, and with some of the greatest names in history returning among them -- it was always sure to be a thrilling tournament! The Quarter Finals showed there was no room for upstarts this year. The 2017 Semi Finals featured an elite line-up of former champions and Hall of Famers -- the first Grand Slam this year without Mime in the Semis!

If things had gone differently it could've been an all United final, but only Mimik made it past a hotly contested Quarter Final stage! Historically the Hall of Famer hasn't been a strong tournament fighter, but he emerged a dark horse after wins against Violent`J and LordSkarlet. Genku struggled with Artanix in the Quarters, but had a full tank of reserves when he attacked the Semis! The highly controversial Genku took control of his destiny, securing a convincing win to advance to the final!

When DECEPTION defended his first Undisputed Championship against Kron in the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix VI, he cemented his place among the top tier of competition! At Ultimate Grand Prix VII, the competitive rivalry was revisited with the same outcome. The Semi Final of the 2017 Summer Grand Slam gave Kron a chance to add a notch to his win column, but after walking through his match with TPB, it was Kron's turn to run out of gas! The Hitman, on the other hand, was peaking at the right time. Knowing his rival so well, DECEPTION delivered one of the most shocking results in a tournament final when he executed MAX Damage to the Hall of Famer! His second MAX impact for the tournament, having decimated TonyTheTiger in the Fourth Round!

With such a rare, strong performance coming late in the tournament, "The Hitman" DECEPTION immediately became the favourite heading into the Grand Slam Final! For DECEPTION, it was a return to the peak of competition, having slipped out of title contention over the course of the year. Genku too was fighting to take control of his own destiny, convinced of a conspiracy against him that kept him out of the Royal Roulette match. Both competitors came at the final battle with their very best, but in the end it was the controversial Invasion fighter who edged out the win!

With his first tournament crown since the 2013 Summer Grand Slam; Genku took the opportunity to address his All-Star Summer Showdown nemesis: Chairman Mick! He promised he wasn't done with the Chairman, but first he had to take care of some overdue business. Genku announced that now he's won the 2017 Summer Grand Slam - no one can stop him coming for "The Chosen One" Damo at Supercard 98: Night of Champions to finally take back the Undisputed Championship! A bold proclamation to end another amazing year of the famed tournament!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Semi Finals:
1. Genku defeated United: Mimik in convincing fashion! [+2]

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Quarters

Eight all-star competitors advanced to the Quarter Final round of the 2017 Summer Grand Slam! With two Hall of Famers and six former Undisputed Champions competing, expectations were at an all-time high! It turned out experience-plus was the key to an edge in the close fought Quarters!

Genku found himself vulnerable in the opening QF, drained after claiming an impressive victory over Ratt in the Fourth Round! United: Artanix came highly motivated, seizing the opportunity to advance his solo credentials. He came close to upsetting Genku in Round 2 of this year's Grand Prix Warm-Up. The United fighter had to settle for almost - coming tantalizingly close to scoring the upset win. After such a hard fought battle, Genku enters the Semi Final with a major question mark.

United: Mimik found momentum from his defeat of Violent`J in the last round, flexing his muscles against a less experienced rival in "Red Nightmare" LordSkarlet. Mimik was never known for his tournament prowess, but showed phenomenal form in his Quarters clash. LordSkarlet had a hard win against "Champion of Champions" Poasty coming into the Quarters, but Mimik's performance was at a high level! The +3 impact could elevate Mimik to a dark horse contender!

As the last remaining top seed; United: Mime had the confidence of having made the Semi Finals of this year's Grand Slam Open, Grand Prix Warm-Up, and Mid-Year Grand Slam! He seemed destined to make it four from four, but the reigning KFL Champion hadn't counted on DECEPTION! The Hitman devastated TonyTheTiger in Round 4, executing a dominant MAX Damage win! Momentum was on clearly on DECEPTION's side, but the clash would turn out to be the big fight of Day 6! Mime did his best to dig his heels in, but The Hitman has been eager to fight his way back to the top of the league! It was a competitive contest, but in the end, Mime's Semi Final streak came to an end.

Like DECEPTION; United: The_Purple_Bunny has been solely motivated by the desire to win the Undisputed Championship once again. He wants to win his 7th title reign in 2017! It was enough to spur him past All-Star Summer nemesis Marz, but there was nothing left in the tank when he came up against one of the most revered Hall of Famers in history: Kron! Kron had his own struggles, edging past VenoMark in a hard fought Fourth Round clash. He wasn't in great shape heading into the QF, but old enemy TPB had absolutely nothing left. The Kron Line capitalized, consuming TPB in a bitter defeat!

The final day of competition will decide the winner of the 2017 Summer Grand Slam! For "The Hitman" DECEPTION and Kron it will be an Ultimate Grand Prix rematch that could decide the ultimate winner! In the other half: Genku and United: Mimik will battle for the recognition they've so long been denied! Two Hall of Famers, four former champions - one Grand Slam Tournament winner! It all begins tomorrow with the Semi  Finals!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Round 4

It's not often you see a MAX Damage result from a Round 4 dream match, but that's exactly what we were treated to at the 2017 Summer Grand Slam! It was an all-star round of sixteen, with only one seed making it three -- and three of five Hall of Famers biting the dust!

"The Hitman" DECEPTION was the impact player of the Fourth Round, living up to his name in a devastating victory against "The Predator" TonyTheTiger! TTT struggled to keep up the pace in the match, contributing heavily to the punishing MAX Damage loss. #3 seed United: Mime fought a more even match in his comprehensive win over SubMan799. Mime has reached the Semi Finals of all three Grand Slam Tournaments this year, and will go into the Quarters firm favourite despite the severity of DECEPTION's R4 victory.

United: The_Purple_Bunny announced himself as the fighter to watch, executing a near perfect fight against Marz! The grudge match result reversed fortunes at All-Star Summer Showdown that momentarily distanced TPB from his driving goal of winning a 7th Undisputed Championship in 2017. If he's able to continue the pace he's shown in his last two matches, it could be the fasttrack! He will find stiff competition from another old rival, however. Kron's near-miss in Round 3 must've been a wake-up, or perhaps just conserving energy. He crossed swords with #2 seed VenoMark, who fought close to his very best! A high-caliber close fought bout!

"Red Nightmare" LordSkarlet was impressive in his elimination of #4 seed Poasty! The "Champion of Champions" showed potential for another big defying of odds, but LordSkarlet was able to call upon his superior experience to match the Royal Roulette winner's penchant for momentum. With United: Mimik comfortably besting fellow Hall of Famer Violent`J, it's anyone's guess what will happen in the Quarter Finals! Mimik's early career was dotted with poor tournament showings, but he's been making up for it in his second career with The United!

It was another of The United's impressive number that brought an end to the upstart run of Statix! He took out the Undisputed Champion in Round 2, but was out-gunned by United: Artanix in the Fourth! He'll face a highly motivated Genku in the Quarters, as the controversial Invasion fighter comes off a high of decimating Ratt in a huge win!

Tournament 82: Summer Grand Slam - Round 3

A strong field surged through Round 3 of the 2017 Summer Grand Slam as the All-Star field began to assert itself! A who's who of competitors advanced to Round 4, setting up a scintillating round of sixteen with three top seeds, and five Hall of Famers still live in the bracket!

Reigning KFL Champion and #3 seed United: Mime delivered the most destructive impact of the round, executing a +17 demolition against Porygonix. The United delivered all of the double digit impacts for the round, with Artanix and Mimik crushing their opponents for +11 and +10 damage.

The impacts weren't as flashy, but three fighters asserted themselves with impressive heavyweight performances. All-time great Ratt was at his scintillating best when he beat Invasion figurehead DaemonX! The benefit of a bye in the last round helped Marz come in fresh against DeathScepter, setting up an All-Star Summer Showdown rematch with United: The_Purple_Bunny, who was at his best in a comprehensive elimination of ICWW alum Shamrock!

The #2 seed VenoMark weathered a notably competitive match with MKMaster. He'll face a Kron who just narrowly made it past G0LD in a remarkably close fought match! Kron's looked strong until now, despite suffering a high-profile loss at All-Star Summer Showdown. #4 seed Poasty had the benefit of an unprecedented double withdrawal from Round 2, granting him a ticket straight into the Fourth Round. "Red Nightmare" LordSkarlet should provide a tough challenge after taking out DArqueBishop in a comprehensive elimination!

Round 4 is littered with main event match-ups and hot rivalries! Genku has been out to prove a point, but will face one of the toughest opponents possible when he meets Ratt! Only one Hall of Famer will survive when United: Mimik takes on "Y2Juggalo" Violent`J! Summer bad blood will be revisited when Marz faces United: The_Purple_Bunny. The sleeper of the round could just be "The Predator" TonyTheTiger versus "The Hitman" DECEPTION!
