Pre-Show 89 is a Fight For Control

Late last year The United drove an apparent nail into the coffin of the beleaguered Invasion, boldly declaring the cancellation of the Monday Night Invasion! They backed it up in the new year, utilizing the influence of holding four major championships to launch the Monday Night Games!

At Supercard 88: Battle Royale, The United loosened their grip on three of the four titles -- and now The Invasion aims to seize the opportunity by taking away Monday Nights, as well!

Issuing the challenge for this weekend: DaemonX will lead the regrouping Invasion in a 5-on-5 Survival Sequence to determine control of Monday Nights. It will be the main event of Pre-Show 89: Control II -- a sequel to Pre-Show 78, where The Invasion thwarted The Alliance's attempt to steal Monday Night Invasion away from them!

The United have a growing line-up to choose from, with Battle Royale winner The_Purple_Bunny joining a team already consisting of: Shoe, Artanix, Mimik, Mime, & Murdoink! The defending team will be revealed this weekend - February 5th!

Monday Night Games (January 30, 2017)

VenoMark was red with rage as he stormed the Monday Night Games on the back of Battle Royale 2017! The Runner-Up's fury was directed squarely at The United and their apparent new acquisition -- the man who beat him out of the UGP main event: The_Purple_Bunny!

It was TPB's brief team-up with departing United Hall of Famer, Hokey, that helped him outlast VM in the final stages of the match. A success that came in spite of VenoMark sidelining TPB with a brutal win back at Supercard 86! It isn't the first time VenoMark suffered an lopsided loss to a vanquished foe: Mimik defeated him in three-way battle for the Undisputed Championship at Supercard 87: End Of Days, having survived several earlier defeats throughout 2016!

Blind fury led VenoMark running headlong into another 2-on-1 situation, but his challenge to TPB drew out old nemesis Mimik, as well! On their home turf, the expanding United line-up curbed all aggressions with a dominating handicap win! A temporary solution to an obviously volatile situation.

Earlier in the night, Mime dealt out a punishing defeat to Invasion fighter SubScorpTile. The +14 impact left little to chance, sending a bold message to both The Invasion and new KFL Champion: TonyTheTiger! Former Division 2 Champion Murdoink didn't have the same luck, suffering a stinging loss to G0LD!

Monday Night Games: Week 2 (January 30, 2017):
8. "The United" The_Purple_Bunny & Mimik d. VenoMark [+3]
7. United: Mime d. SubScorpTile [+14]
6. G0LD d. United: Murdoink [+1]
5. "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade d. "The Invasion" MattHardy & Ghrimm [+2]
4. KurtAngle d. PaganFreak [+1]
3. Maridany d. Shujinko [+1]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 1/29/2017

We say it all the time and it's never been more true: What a difference a week makes!

After Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road it looked like The_Purple_Bunny might not participate in Battle Royale at all! He scored a second-chance qualifying win during Friday Night Fights - and now he's on the path back to the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix! It's arguably the last major accolade he had to claim in his title-laden career. A very worthy winner!

Battle Royale was a make-good for Poasty, as well. You couldn't find a better Division 2 Champion in 2017! The comeback story is finally over and now it's time to see what he can do as champ. There are a lot of major threats lurking in the Div.2 ranks right now, with former champs SubScorpTile and Benjamin trending strong. I don't think United: Murdoink will go away quietly. There are also some newer faces assembling on the horizon. Guys like Shinnokxz, G0LD, and even MKMaster!

The United arguably had a worse night than the "nightmare" of Battle Royale 2016, but they won't walk away from their three championship loss too dejected. Shoe & Artanix were scintillating in their dismissal of DaemonX & Banging - a team who looked so dangerous last year! Mimik, Mime and Murdoink may have relinquished the solo gold, but none of them was embarrassed. The team is looking more stable than ever, especially if talk of The_Purple_Bunny joining the team pans out!

Will it be a rematch of the Ultimate Grand Prix IV main event come April? It certainly seems to be trending that way! ElJobber is absolutely on fire! That's two years in a row now he's won the Grand Slam Launch and the Undisputed Championship in January! There are at least half a dozen serious threats to his title between now and UGP! It's gonna be one helluva ride!

It comes but once a year - an annual tradition that is a prize unto itself! Battle Royale is the ultimate test of endurance, bringing forty fighters together in a single match! With only 7 confirmed qualifiers, the 2017 Battle Royale match arrived with an intriguing blend of uncertainty and expectation! Forty fighters would enter randomly - but only one could earn a main event title shot at Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

Coltess and Darfus were the fighters who drew numbers 1 and 2. Eager to take his opportunity, Darfus blasted Coltess with raining blows - until everything stopped for entrant #3: VenoMark!

Coltess & Darfus immediately double-teamed the heavyweight entrant. VenoMark threw Darfus into his ally and started working down Coltess. While he did, NightHawk made a surprise return at #4 and launched another 2-on-1 attack! While VM dealt with the numbers game, The Great Arena erupted for another major challenger entering early: DECEPTION! This prompted Coltess & Darfus to turn to The Hitman with more double-teaming! The balance was finally upset when last year's Battle Royale winner Kron made a surprise return at #6 -- instantly eliminating NightHawk! This was quickly followed by VenoMark taking care of Coltess, and DECEPTION beating Darfus.

The big early entrances continued with Hall of Famer Oozaru making a surprising entrance at #8! Grand Slam Launch Runner-Up Damo came in at #9! The arena went wild for the arrival of "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile at #11 as she came in swinging at multiple opponents! Alliance heavyweight Statix followed at #12! 2016 Hall of Fame inductee Hokey joined the party at #14 -- eager to end his career with a final Undisputed Championship win at UGP!

The influx of heavyweight competitors so early in the match made it one of the most congested Battle Royales in history! VenoMark and DECEPTION clashed for a while. Kron and Hokey drew packs of fighters - clearly identified as serious threats! At the half-way mark, no one fighter was as an obvious favourite, as MKMaster caused a minor stir with only the seventh elimination for the match!

VenoMark kept himself warm, punching the docket on #20 entrant Zentile. CaTigeReptile greeted Shujinko with a knock-out blow, setting up Hokey for a quick elimination. VenoMark promptly added #19 Killswitch to the exit. The departures a mild reprieve as The_Purple_Bunny entered seconds later #23, followed by the surprise arrival of m0s at #24!

VenoMark directed traffic, recruiting Kron and Oozaru in a three-on-one attack of TPB! Hokey found m0s, putting the surprise entrant on the back foot. When "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet made his entrance at #27 -- he made a bee-line for old nemesis m0s! #29 Corrupt hydraslash came in to give LS a helping hand, but Damo ushered him right out of the match in just 32 seconds! That was nothing compared to Damo's second elimination - an instant meet, greet and sweep of 1 second wonder - #32 MinnyBean! The instant elimination equaled the record of shortest appearance held previous by STEROLIZER - who returned to Battle Royale as a much longer lived #34 entrant!

As BilboFett entered at #40, the match still contained an unprecedented 20 fighters -- half of the field! That number was quickly lessened as The_Purple_Bunny took out Kairyu. A minute later Damo eliminated Philip94, and m0s took care of Asesino. These gave way to two more exits - VenoMark eliminating BilboFett, and DECEPTION ending STEROLIZER's almost 13 minute tour! The bodies were finally starting to fall, but still no one fighter was emerging as an obvious favourite!

The match changed complexion when DECEPTION capitalized on Damo's efforts to eliminate his Koalition teammate CaTigeReptile! The reminder that the match is everyone for themselves kicked th action into a higher gear -- but not everyone took the message to heart! The_Purple_Bunny & Hokey began working together as The United! While VenoMark eliminated Damo with extreme prejudice, The United softened up DECEPTION for TPB to send him out! Kron repeated last year's finish with the elimination of LordSkarlet, while the United went on a tour of the remaining fighters! Hokey made sure Kron didn't make it back-to-back wins, eliminating his fellow Hall of Famer to make it the final four!

m0s had a good run throughout the Battle Royale, but as soon as there were four, his chips were up! VenoMark eliminated m0s and then went to work on Hokey! The_Purple_Bunny happily sat back and watched as his cohort was utterly dominated by VenoMark! Hokey shrugged his attacker off to go after TPB, but The_Purple_Bunny eliminated him! With the benefit of freshness, TPB wound up to deliver several knock out blows -- setting VenoMark up for a heartbreaking elimination! The #3 entrant set a new endurance record, lasting 1 hour 26 minutes 39 seconds in the marathon match!

The near miss is The_Purple_Bunny's ultimate payback for the Steel Cage loss at Supercard 86: Survivor Sequence - Invasion! The 2017 Battle Royale ticks another accolade off TPB's incredible list of career achievements. He now turns to the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix VII, where he will attempt to claim the Undisputed Championship for an unprecedented seventh time!

7. ElJobber defeated United: Mimik (c) in a comprehensive victory! [+3] [Undisputed Championship]
With victories over the 2016 Master's Series and 2017 Grand Slam Launch, ElJobber was the logical challenger for the Undisputed Championship at Supercard 88! January has traditionally been a good time of year for ElJobber, having won the 2011 and 2014 Battle Royale matches, as well as the title at last year's event. Twelve months ago it was Hokey he defeated, as part of the nightmare implosion of The United. History nearly repeated, but at Supercard 87: End Of Days, it was Mimik who earned a gutsy three-way win to claim the title from his teammate, Hokey! Mimik himself has fond memories of January, as winner of the 2012 Battle Royale! Coming off a renaissance year, The United fighter was eager to shrug off the curse and make it a 2-2 night for the team. Unfortunately, ElJobber came to fight, finding his best form at the perfect time! An outstanding performance left absolutely nothing to doubt -- a comprehensive defeat of Mimik! The win earns ElJobber only his fourth Undisputed Championship. Now he sets his sights on the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix VII, where the winner of the Battle Royale match will face the champion!

6. "Invasion Contender Elect" Genku defeated "Y2Juggalo" Violent`J in convincing fashion! [+2]
In November, Genku sold himself as the man to bring the Undisputed Championship, and greatness, to The Invasion for the first time. It was the very plan that made him agree to join The Invasion in the first place, and it won him the election - or so he thought! Both the title shot and The Invasion lie in tatters, torn apart by a war they thought they were winning! Violent`J blew the whistle on alleged electoral fraud after The Invasion's shock end to last year, leading to an official independent inquiry that left Genku in limbo. Violent`J never made any secret of his preferences for another fighter, and when Genku failed to acknowledge his championship pedigree - the alliance soured! Genku lost key matches at Supercard 87 and The Master's Series, but determined self-belief meant placing the blame squarely on VJ! Deluded or not, it gave him the thrust to overwhelm his Hall of Fame opponent in a hard hitting fight! As The Y2Juggalo carted himself out of the coliseum, Genku delivered a message to the night's Championship challenger! He told ElJobber he'd better win that title and hold it real tight, because he'll be taking great pleasure in taking it from him!

5. Poasty defeated United: Murdoink (c) in convincing fashion. [+1] [Division 2 Championship]
By the middle of last year, it seemed as if Poasty had the world at his feet. He won the Division 2 Championship for the first time in a major upset at Pre-Show 80 -- and then it all went horribly wrong! A career threatening injury stripped him of the title, beginning a fight back that seemed destined to reunite him with the gold at Tournament 75. Instead, Murdoink spoiled the dream, enduring Poasty's payback to go on to win the Division 2 title himself at Supercard 86: Survivor Sequence! Murdoink gloated as Poasty succumbed to haunting trauma, escaping defeat when Poasty fought to answer his open challenge at Supercard 87. The 2017 Grand Slam Launch was the antidote Poasty needed, fighting through to the Semi Finals! Having overcome the nightmare, he was ready to finally live the dream of reclaiming the Division 2 Championship! Murdoink could do nothing to stop destiny reuniting Poasty with the belt he never lost! Poasty showed his elation as he finally claimed the title. A scintillating result at Battle Royale! The United's second title defeat!

4. "The United" Shoe & Artanix (c) defeated "The Invasion" DaemonX & Banging in a comprehensive victory! [+1] [Duo Division Championship]
The United boldly announced the cancellation of The Invasion with a victory December 19th, and with their clean sweep of the titles, effortlessly took control with the launch of Monday Night Games. It's the kind of swagger you get when you end the historic 420 day Duo Division Championship reign of Team Xtreme at Supercard 87: End Of Days! It's also a guarantee that surviving remnants of The Invasion are going to try to upset the party! DaemonX & Banging reemerged on January 23, and set their sights on the tandem titles shortly thereafter. It was supposed to be a spiteful strike at Shoe & Artanix -- but it turned into just another bitter defeat for The Invasion! It seems The United are out to set a new standard for the Duo Division Championship, putting the kibosh of last year's 'nightmare' Battle Royale loss to bed with a comprehensive victory!

3. "The Predator" TonyTheTiger defeated United: Mime (c) [+1] [KFL Championship]
Last year's Battle Royale marked the historic first ever KFL Championship defense on a Supercard. Absorbed into the main league after the KFL was dissolved; it went on to be an incredible year for the title - culminating in a shock win by Mime at New Year's Resolution! The title completed The United's claim to every single championship -- something "The Predator" TonyTheTiger could not abide by! With a Supercard 87 win at his back, The Predator stalked his prey into a new year! Bad blood has existed between Mime and TTT since last July, and it came to the boil as Mime struggled to keep a hold of his title! The Predator was too strong, inflicting the first United loss of the night!

2. "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo defeated Jammer2Omega & Porygonix [+1]
Ever since Jammer2Omega & Porygonix started their rise through the Duo Division ranks, they've been compared to "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo. Seeing their more experienced peers as a barometer for their progress, J2O & Pory enjoyed several memorable contests during their climb last year. Eager to assess their progress since the last meeting at All-Star Summer Showdown, the hotshot team relished the opportunity. In a string of hard fought battles, this one turned out to be the closest yet! Jammer2Omega & Porygonix still have work to do to break the top tier of the Duo Division, but it's clear they're on the threshold of something big in 2017!

1. Politics & Menas defeated "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge [+1]
Fighting from underneath, Politics & Menas had losses at New Year's Resolution and Pre-Show 88 driving them to improve upon their year. Jason_Voorhees & edge were only narrow victors at The Long Hard Road. The rematch swung decisively in favour of the fan-favourites, giving Politics & Menas the big win on a Supercard stage!

Friday Night Fights (January 27, 2017)

Shen_DuHBK returned to the main event of Friday Night Fights with a last chance opportunity to qualify for guaranteed entry into the 2017 Battle Royale! His opponent this week -- one of the other Pre-Show 88 qualifying match fighters, who suffered a particularly brutal loss: The_Purple_Bunny!

With his second upset victory over Genku last week, Shen_DuHBK had proven himself a capable threat to the top fighters of the league. He came up short against emerging favourite CaTigeReptile, but still seemed a legitimate threat to a wounded TPB! The_Purple_Bunny has done most things in his storied career, but one of the few accolades to elude him has been Battle Royale! He's been to the main event of UGP once as champion, but never with victory over forty other fighters. That fact no doubt provided a motivating factor for the wounded fighter -- who blasted Shen_DuHBK with a complete and total domination! Shen was lucky to walk away with just 8p damage. TPB, even luckier to have secured guaranteed qualification in to the Battle Royale match!

Earlier in the night, AlbertBeefcake resumed the official inquiry into Invasion Election tampering, targeting another suspected hacker in xort! He attempted to interrogate the purported electronic wizard throughout the match, but once again found no reasonable suspicion behind his hunch. Albert believes someone may have hacked vote data to alter the result. The investigation continues.

Supercard 88: Battle Royale is this weekend - Sunday, January 29th! Forty fighters will converge on a single match to determine a challenger for the Undisputed Championship at the biggest event of the year: Ultimate Grand Prix VII! Among the guaranteed entrants will be: The_Purple_Bunny, VenoMark, Hokey, "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile, "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet, and DECEPTION! Who else will emerge from the random entry draw? Who will claim the unique accolade of this prestigious match? Be here Sunday to find out!

2 More Matches for Supercard 88

Supercard 88: Battle Royale is already fixing to be a massive UGP Season starter -- but it's about to get even bigger with two more matches added to a stacked undercard!

Jammer2Omega & Porygonix emerged as one of the breakout teams of 2016! In their development as a duo, they've always seen "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo as a measuring stick. Now they'll test their progress in a new year by taking on the legendary team in a huge exhibition!

Things will get more bitter when Politics & Menas challenge their Duo Division rivals "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge to a grudge match! The Invasion only narrowly eked out the win at Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road. The stakes will be high as they fight their way to Supercard!

The Duo Division Championship will be on the line when "The Invasion" DaemonX & Banging take on Monday Night master "The United" Shoe & Artanix! PLUS: Forty fighters enter randomly at intervals of 90 seconds -- it's the seventh annual Battle Royale match. A scramble to determine the #1 contender to fight in the main event of the biggest event of the year: Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

Genku Challenges Accuser at Battle Royale

It was the late December bombshell that continues to echo throughout the league: Violent`J's accusation that Genku was the beneficiary of fraud during the November Invasion Election!

The accusations have led to the launch of an official independent inquiry, but any chance of Genku being exonerated will take time. This means his hope to be sworn in as The Invasion's Undisputed Champion at Supercard 88 is now completely dead -- and he isn't happy about it!

Genku blames Violent`J for taking away his promised opportunity -- and now he's going to take his aggressions out on the man responsible! It'll be a brutal grudge match when Genku takes on VJ in a stacked undercard -- this weekend, January 29th!

Supercard 88: Battle Royale (January 29th, 2017):
- 40-fighter Battle Royale featuring Hokey, "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile, DECEPTION, VenoMark, "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet, Scott-Howell and G0LD.

The Invasion Challenge The United

Speculation over the survival of The Invasion finally came to an end during yesterday's launch of Monday Night Games. The Invasion crashed the party to stake a claim to Monday Nights, but came up short against the championship juggernaut that is The United!

Now The Invasion plan to wear away at The United's power by taking back some of the gold at Superard 88: Battle Royale!

The Duo Division Championship was under The Invasion's jurisdiction for 420 days thanks to the reign of Violent`J and Team Xtreme! Now Invasion leaders DaemonX & Banging will take their shot at the 2-man gold when they challenge Shoe & Artanix at the first major of 2017!

DaemonX & Banging reached the pinnacle of the Duo Division last September, when they won Tournament 74: Grand Slam [Doubles]! Rather than pursue the gold, they used their status to keep Team Xtreme's title reign secure. Now they'll finally turn their tandem expertise toward taking gold!

It's one of four title matches for The United at this year's Battle Royale! They have all the gold and will put it on the line as Mimik features in the semi main defending the Undisputed Championship against ElJobber! Reigning KFL Champion Mime will defend against long time rival "The Predator" TonyTheTiger! The Division 2 gold will be on the line in a hotly anticipated rematch when Poasty looks to right some personal wrongs against Murdoink!

All that, plus: The annual forty-fighter Battle Royale match to determine the #1 contender to the Undisputed Championship at the biggest event of the year - Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

Supercard 88: Battle Royale (January 29th, 2017):
- 40-fighter Battle Royale featuring Hokey, "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile, DECEPTION, VenoMark, "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet, Scott-Howell and G0LD.

Monday Night Games (January 23, 2017)

The United were once again gathered in The Great Arena to welcome spectators to the first ever Monday Night Games! The reinvention comes a week after they confirmed the cancellation of Monday Night Invasion -- or so they thought!

After several weeks without word, The Invasion made their unannounced return -- staking their claim to Monday Nights in The Great Arena! The United dismissed their claim, wielding the power of a golden assembly: Mimik is the Undisputed Champion, Shoe & Artanix are the Duo Division Champions, Mime is the KFL Champion, and Murdoink reigns as Division 2 Champion! Coupled with their role in dominating The Invasion on December 19 - The United made for an overwhelming force. Yet, in the spirit of the new Games, they agreed to meet their challengers -- even accepting a KFL Championship challenge from Loopster!

Things started well for The Invasion in the undercard: Jason_Voorhees & edge earned a solid win over The Greek Crisis, while Chromatose had no trouble besting MKMaster. The first sign of trouble came when Shinnokxz teamed with NosajSamoht to knock back his Tournament 77 rival Ghrimm in a rematch from last week. That corrected when SubScorpTile took down unsuccessful Pre-Show 88 qualification fighter Onimike in a comprehensive win.

When it came time for The Invasion to face The United, they were quickly reminded of how that ended for them last time! Mime completely dominated Loopster in his attempts to win back the KFL Championship that had been a jewel in The Invasion's crown last year. The result - never in doubt as it ended in a potentially more damaging +6 rated impact!

In the main event, DaemonX, Banging & Grayback attempted to cohere into an unbeatable force -- but were completely railroaded by the team chemistry of Shoe, Artanix & Murdoink! The United originals are famous for being one of the only groups to defeat The Barons of Lord Mislukking, and they showed just how devastating that team dominance can be -- utterly destroying The Invasion!

The result was demoralizing, if not physically punishing for The Invasion. Is it a sign The United are ready to exorcise their demons and dominate at Supercard 88: Battle Royale?

The five title holders will be expected to defend their championships, with Mimik facing 2017 Grand Slam Launch winner ElJobber in the semi main. Mime will defend his KFL Championship for a third time when he meets nemesis TonyTheTiger! The Division 2 Championship will be the prize when Poasty looks to gain a grudge match win against his nemesis Murdoink! It all goes down this weekend - Sunday, January 29th! Be here for developments all week before the final results!

Monday Night Games: Week 1 (January 23, 2017):
7. "The United" Shoe (c), Artanix (c) & Murdoink (c) d. "The Invasion" DaemonX, Banging & Grayback [+1]
6. United: Mime (c) d. Loopster [+6] [KFL Championship]
5. SubScorpTile d. Onimike [+2]
4. Shinnokxz & NosajSamoht d. "The Invasion" MattHardy & Ghrimm [+1]
3. Chromatose d. MKMaster [+3]
2. Maridany d. little-mac [+3]
1. "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge d. "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade [+1]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 1/22/2017

No surprise that undefeated Grand Slam Launch Winner ElJobber has officially been made #1 contender, looking very strong as he heads toward the Undisputed Championship match this weekend. The announcement has a double effect, not only supplying Mimik with a dangerous challenger -- but also guaranteeing those two former Battle Royale winners won't be in this year's match! Encouraging news for the big picture!

Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road has given us six more guaranteed entrants into Battle Royale 2017: "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile, "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet"The Hitman" DECEPTION, VenoMark, Scott-Howell and G0LD. They join Hokey in the qualified list, ensuring they will be drawn some time in the random forty-fighter entry.

This year's list for entry is already a strong one, with five of the confirmed seven presenting viable candidates to win the match! Of them, only DECEPTION has been to the main event of UGP, having defended his first Undisputed Championship at Ultimate Grand Prix VI! LordSkarlet returns to this year's Battle Royale match as the 2016 Runner-Up eager to go all the way for the first time!

Their success also means several major names will be thrown to the random draw! 2017 Grand Slam Launch Runner-Up Damo, The_Purple_Bunny, and Statix each would've been considered major prospects had they qualified. Now their fate is uncertain!

So is the fate of "Invasion Contender Elect" Genku! It seems pretty clear now that his hopes of a January 29th title match are up in smoke. The official inquiry into Invasion Election tampering is under way, but it's unknown how long it will take to get a resolution. AlbertBeefcake confronted his first suspect during this week's Friday Night Fights to a dead end. This week's final Monday Night Invasion seems to have confirmed The Invasion are as good as dead, as well. The United launch a new Monday programme later today.

Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road

A weight of expectation hung over Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road as the first major step on the path to Ultimate Grand Prix began! The stakes were high with six Qualifying matches offering guaranteed entry into the 2017 Battle Royale match -- a forty-fighter bout to determine who will challenge the Undisputed Champion in the main event of the annual Great Arena Spectacular!

DECEPTION reached new heights in 2016, successfully defending the Undisputed Championship in his first ever defense in the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix VI! At Pre-Show 88, his struggle to get back to the UGP spotlight headlined! "The Chosen One" Damo was in-form as Runner-Up of the 2017 Grand Slam Launch! He put up a titanic fight, but in the end, it was The Hitman who found his target, earning guaranteed entry into Battle Royale!

The_Purple_Bunny was MIA in December after suffering a vicious defeat at Supercard 86: Survivor Sequence! Qualification meant a grudge match with the man who destroyed him inside the Steel Cage: VenoMark. It was a challenge too great; the jilted Supercard 87 title contender earning a devastating MAX Damage defeat against TPB!

"American Nightmare" LordSkarlet had a grudge of his own, ending an incredible year with a dragon to slay in the form of Statix! The Alliance fighter got the best of LS in back-to-back wins in the final week's programming, but LordSkarlet summoned an all mighty effort to earn guaranteed qualification into the match he almost won last year!

Few fighters ended the year as hot as "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile! Her instrumental role in winning the war with The Invasion put her at the top of the contender stakes in many eyes! She may have been an overwhelming favourite against Invasion fighter Shen_DuHBK, but after his back-to-back upset wins against Genku, all bets were off! The Guardian showed indications of her hard end to the last year, but Shen_DuHBK's powers were clearly spent. CTR will now head into the 2017 Battle Royale as one of the favourites to win the annual match!

Also qualifying was the inspiration for the July 4 Battle Royal match: Scott-Howell! The former American Dream was comfortable beating Canadian Olympic stand-out Jerrod. Last year's surprise three-man eliminator Onimike couldn't earn his way back into the Battle Royale match, coming up short against the most exciting signing of 2016: G0LD!

In other battles: "Mad Dog" Onryo got a chance to settle the score with proXade in a Duo Division grudge match borne of his Round 3 loss. The New Generation comfortably put away The Greek Crisis. Invasion combination Jason_Voorhees & edge were also able to maintain the status quo, defending a grudge bout from their New Year's Resolution opponents, Politics & Menas!

It's all leading to Supercard 88: Battle Royale! We now know "Hitman" DECEPTION, VenoMark, "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet, "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile, Scott-Howell and G0LD will join 2016 Hall of Fame inductee and already announced entrant Hokey in the forty-fighter match! Who will earn the right to challenge for the Undisputed Championship at the greatest event on the calendar - Ultimate Grand Prix VII? Be here January 29th for full results from annual event!

Supercard 88 Title Bout Confirmed

Coming off back-to-back tournament wins at the 2016 Master's Series and 2017 Grand Slam Launch; it can come as no surprise that ElJobber will be number one contender heading in to Supercard 88: Battle Royale! He rides a hot winning streak into his favourite event, looking to win the Undisputed Championship for only the fourth time in his decorated career.

ElJobber challenges The United's Hall of Fame kingpin, who holds the grandest prize in the team's complete set of major championships: Mimik!

Mimik earned his prize the hardest way possible, taking out two opponents at Supercard 87 to finish the year triumphant. The 2012 Battle Royale winner won't want to be too over confident, though...

Some fighters seem to peak with certain phases of the calendar, and for ElJobber it's the start of a new year that brings out his best! Battle Royale has been a favourite event, with wins in the 2011 and 2014 Battle Royale matches, as well as an Undisputed Championship win last year!

That 2016 title victory was part of a nightmare run for The United, who imploded after their string of high profile defeats! They come in to Supercard 88 with the confidence of holding all the major titles, but that also means they have so much more to lose!

Superstition abounds as The United racks up their third championship challenger! Mime also defends the KFL Championship against nemesis TonyTheTiger, while Murdoink must weather a Division 2 title rematch against former champ Poasty! It's shaping up to be a huge event! Don't miss it!

Supercard 88: Battle Royale (January 29th, 2017):
- 40-fighter Battle Royale featuring Hokey.
- ElJobber versus United: Mimik (c) [Undisputed Championship]
- "The Predator" TonyTheTiger versus United: Mime (c) [KFL Championship]
- Poasty versus United: Murdoink (c) [Division 2 Championship]

Friday Night Fights (January 20, 2017)

Friday Night Fights returned for a new year with a fresh lust for competition! Memories of the war that gripped The Great Arena in December echoed in the night's main event, but for the most part, the league was finally free to reclaim the court of competition on a frosty January's Friday!

Fallout from the 2017 Grand Slam Launch fuelled a return to regular proceedings; the first match of the night spinning directly out of the Round 2 clash that saw proXade eliminate MercWithMouth! As they're wont to do, these fighters escalated their grudge into an opening Duo Division clash that saw The Greek Crisis comfortably claim victory!

Later in the night, AlbertBeefcake was acting in his role as Lead Investigator in the official inquiry into Invasion Election fraud when he challenged VR-FIST! The Czech Olympian was targeted for combat interrogation as Albert follows a hunch that voting results may have been tampered with by a hacker! He won the match, but was admonished for his lazy regional assumptions. With VR-FIST seemingly in the clear, the case remains open.

Doing his best to put the investigation out of his mind: "Invasion Contender Elect" Genku took on Invasion voter Shen_DuHBK in the main event! Genku was a surprise exit in the Fourth Round of the Grand Slam Launch, losing to Shen_DuHBK in a huge upset! Genku thought he would correct the record on Friday Night Fights, but instead walked right in to another shocking loss! Every attack was deflected as Genku's powers appeared to leave him! It's another devastating blow to the would-be contender, and The Invasion themselves, whose status remains largely unknown!

This weekend Shen_DuHBK will look to ride his massive FNF victory into qualification for this year's Battle Royale! He faces Invasion destroyer CaTigeReptile in one of six qualification bouts at Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road! Also competing for guaranteed entry will be: "The Hitman" DECEPTION, "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet, "The Chosen One" Damo, VenoMark, The_Purple_Bunny, Statix and more! Be here for all the critical results as UGP Season gets underway!

Genku Seeks Payback This Friday

Genku may have found himself at the centre of scandalous accusations regarding Invasion electoral fraud, but that hasn't stopped the would-be "Contender Elect" fighting toward his ultimate goal!

Ironically, it was one of Genku's own voters who led to his shock elimination from the Fourth Round of the 2017 Grand Slam Launch. With Friday Night Fights set to return tomorrow -- Genku will take control of his destiny with a main event grudge match against Shen_DuHBK!

What will this battle mean for the status of The Invasion? Be here for the latest updates when Friday Night Fights returns for a brand new season - tomorrow, January 20th!

RSI: AlbertBeefcake To Interrogate Suspect

During his days in ICWW, AlbertBeefcake was responsible for solving some of the most perplexing mysteries to grip the organization with his "Rar Scene Investigation". Now he faces his toughest case as he provides an impartial third-party for an official inquiry into Invasion Election tampering!

Beefcake has been given unprecedented access to the relevant players in order to confirm or deny Violent`J's  bombshell accusation that "Invasion Contender Elect" Genku only won The Invasion contender vote via electoral fraud.

His investigation will reportedly begin with an interrogation during this week's Friday Night Fights! What new information will AlbertBeefcake discover? Be here January 20th to find out!

First Battle Royale Entrant Announced

When he was inducted into the Hall of Fame in December, Hokey made it known he intended to wind down his career - but not before one last run at regaining the Undisputed Championship! It therefore comes as no surprise that officials have granted him entry into Battle Royale 2017!

Hokey becomes the first confirmed entrant into the annual 40-fighter match! During this weekend's Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road, twelve more fighters will fight to earn guaranteed entry in six qualifying matches! The winner of Battle Royale will be granted an Undisputed Championship match in the main event of the biggest spectacle of the year: Ultimate Grand Prix VII!

Supercard 88: Battle Royale (January 29th, 2017):

Monday Night Invasion (January 16, 2017)

The United stood gathered in The Great Arena as Monday Night Invasion began a new year much the same way it had ended the last one. The December 19 edition concluded with the bombshell of The United defeating The Invasion's leaders - and announcing their cancellation!

The United were back to reaffirm their statement, declaring January 19th would indeed mark the final Monday Night Invasion. They boasted that they had achieved a level of power in a single month that The Invasion had only dreamed about! Each member brandished their championship belt: Mimik the Undisputed Championship, Shoe & Artanix the Duo Division Championships, Mime the KFL Championship, and Murdoink the Division 2 Championship!

The team announced that Monday nights would now belong to them, and as their comrade Hokey was on his way out, they would be searching for a new member to help run the show. At that very moment, Corrupt hydraslash entered the arena, but The Invasion member wasn't there to sign-up! His Duo Division partner Corrupt MINION had suffered the ultimate defeat in the First Round of the 2017 Grand Slam Launch. Mime was the one to put him on the shelf, so hydraslash challenged him to put his recently won KFL Championship on the line in a main event grudge match!

The night turned out to be full of Tournament 77 grudges as remnants of The Invasion gathered to seek retribution. Ghrimm hadn't made an impression as a member of The Invasion, so nobody saw him making the Third Round, where he fell in a double elimination draw to Shinnokxz! Eager to prove which was the better man, they met in an intriguing rematch -- Shinnokxz the decisive winner!

MattHardy escalated his Round 1 loss to McDaniel into an unsuccessful Duo Division clash. Round 2 challengers didn't fare any better: Zentile unable to best Invasion Div.2 rival SubScorpTile, MAX Damaged Rhyno still outclassed by a gentler MKMaster, and KurtAngle deceptively talented in his repeat win against Maridany.

In the main event, Corrupt hydraslash did his best to upset The United's stranglehold on the gold, but he could not avenge his Fallen comrade. Mime secures his first title defense, looking strong two weeks ahead of his Supercard 88 defense against "The Predator" TonyTheTiger!

The action doesn't stop here! Friday Night Fights returns later this week, ahead of Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road! Be here for all the developments as UGP Season gets under way!

Monday Night Invasion: Week 42 (January 16, 2017):
7. United: Mime (c) d. Corrupt hydraslash [+4] [KFL Championship]
6. SubScorpTile d. "Portuguese Pegasus" Zentile [+1]

4. MKMaster d. Rhyno [+1]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 1/15/2017

A week without fights may not have shaken up the rankings, but the title picture for Supercard 88: Battle Royale is well on its way! We got two grudge fuelled title bouts with Poasty confirming his readiness to take down Division 2 Champion United: Murdoink once and for all! "The Predator" TonyTheTiger will continue his vicious grudge against Mime and The United when he attempts to take the KFL Championship!

The annual Battle Royale match will, of course, decide who fights for the Undisputed Championship in the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix VII -- but who will be that champion is a journey we're yet to take. It had seemed as if "Contender Elect" Genku would get that shot, but the launch of an official independent inquiry into The Invasion Election has cast severe doubt over that.

Will The Invasion respond to Violent`J's accusations of vote tampering? What about their supposed cancellationMonday Night Invasion will answer many questions when it officially returns in 2017 - tomorrow, January 16th!

Battle Royal Qualifiers Next Week

A new year means UGP Season is in full effect and one of the most anticipated events of The Great Arena calendar is right around the corner! Battle Royale will grant forty fighters the opportunity to headline the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix VII -- but who will qualify for guaranteed entry?!

Pre-Show 88: The Long Hard Road will feature six confirmed Battle Royal Qualifying matches, headlined by a Round 3 rematch from the 2017 Grand Slam Launch: "The Hitman" DECEPTION versus Tournament Runner-Up "The Chosen One" Damo!

For DECEPTION, it's a chance to reprise his role in the UGP main event and regain the Undisputed Championship he held for most of 2016! None of the qualifying fighters have won Battle Royale before, but they each have a story that will motivate them to go further than they ever have before!

Who will take control of their destiny and earn guarantee entry into the Battle Royale random draw?

The_Purple_Bunny has almost done it all in his title laden career, but the one prize that has always slipped through his fingers is a win in Battle Royale! For VenoMark, Battle Royale is but a means to an end - the Undisputed Championship the holy grail that constantly slips through his fingers!

"American Nightmare" LordSkarlet almost shocked the world at Battle Royale 2016, but had glory snatched away at the last second! The loss led him to a great fall, but he's clawed his way back to the summit! Standing in his way is Alliance veteran Statix -- the one fighter he couldn't beat at the end of last year!

"The Guardian" CaTigeReptile had a spectacular end to last year - a war hero who inspired hope with her valiant fight against The Invasion! Now would be the perfect time for her star to rise, but for some, the war will never truly be over! Shen_DuHBK upset CTR's nemesis Genku to reach the Quarter Finals of the Grand Slam Launch, and could yet avenge The Invasion by knocking The Guardian out of contention!

Scott-Howell and Jerrod come from two sides of the border, but both share the same dream of winning Battle Royale and competing for the Undisputed Championship! Onimike and G0LD represent the past and present, fighting recapture past glories - and define new ones! In one week, they will fight - but who will go the distance down The Long Hard Road?

Predator Stalks KFL Championship

The rivalry between "The Predator" TonyTheTiger and United: Mime is rooted as far back as the middle of last year -- but the conflict is as fresh as Round 3 of the 2017 Grand Slam Launch!

After being lured into an ambush by TonyTheTiger at the 2016 All-Star Summer Showdown, Mime took time away from The Great Arena, coming back strong in November with his United teammates to defeat their mutual enemies. At Supercard 87: End Of Days, Mime attempted to take the payback a step further -- and got bitten for his zeal!

Tournament 77 put the advantage back in Mime's hands, now laden with the gold of the freshly won KFL Championship. Now TonyTheTiger is coming back to try to take the gold from him!

That makes two big title grudge matches for Supercard 88: Battle Royale! The first major of 2017 kicks off UGP Season, headlined by the annual 40-fighter Battle Royale -- a prestigious event that will grant one fighter the chance to headline Ultimate Grand Prix VII and compete for the coveted Undisputed Championship!

Supercard 88: Battle Royale (January 29th, 2017):
- 40-fighter Battle Royale for an Undisputed Championship shot at Ultimate Grand Prix!

Invasion Election Independent Inquiry Begins

On December 22nd, prominent Invasion official Violent`J dropped a bombshell when he issued an accusation of election tampering for the November vote. It was an attack against the credibility of "Invasion Contender Elect" Genku, who Violent`J openly opposed during the race to select an Undisputed Championship contender.

Genku narrowly won The Invasion's support, earning a reported 51.85% of the 25 fighter vote.

Violent`J claims to have anecdotal evidence of inconsistencies in the vote numbers, gained through various lovely tea parties with Invasion voters.

Violent`J accepts that any such accusation would require verification through an official inquiry by an independent third party. Thus, a surprising twist in the case: The Y2Juggalo  has endorsed the hiring of AlbertBeefcake to investigate the claims of electoral fraud and/or tampering.

Given AlbertBeefcake's role in waging war on The Invasion as the leader of The Alliance, it's a highly unlikely choice -- but not an illogical one.

As a long time acquaintance of The Beefer, VJ knows Albo has a nose for solving mysteries. His "Rar Scene Investigation" was a staple of ICWW, where he uncovered the identity of a variety of attackers and criminals. Violent`J is also counting on AlbertBeefcake's impartiality: even if he's a known opponent of The Invasion as a whole, he has no real reason to favour Genku - or his Election opponent: "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet.

What will the inquiry uncover, and what will it mean to Supercard 88: Battle Royale? Be watching for updates as we follow this story ahead of the January 29th event.

Weekly Event Schedule Resumes in 2017

In 2016, the new Friday Night Fights and subsequent introduction of Monday Night Invasion built a foundation for unfolding competition in The Great Arena. Officials aim to see that tradition upheld in 2017 with a brand new season starting next week -- Monday, January 16th!

Last year's final December 19 edition of Monday Night Invasion left many questions dangling as the original marshals of the event, The Invasion, were decimated and "canceled" by opposing factions. What answers will Monday Night Invasion provided in 2017?

League officials promise plenty of matches spinning out of Tournament 77 in the first week, and a few expected surprises. It's all in service of the first Supercard of UGP Season - Battle Royale!

Poasty Officially Challenges Champion

2016 was a breakout year for the man called Poasty, but it wasn't all smooth sailing. His enthusiasm for the fight nearly cost him his career -- and did cost him his first reign as Division 2 Champion!

After his title comeback was thwarted during Tournament 75, Poasty finally got a shot at the title he never lost at Supercard 87: End Of Days. Murdoink taunted him into answering an Open Challenge, even as the traumatic memory of a violent history haunted Poasty into near submission! The result was a bitter brush with the gold - a loss to a defeat Poasty had beaten cleanly three times!

This year, Poasty has thrown himself back into competition - overcoming his hesitance to make the Semi Final of the 2017 Grand Slam Launch! He appears to be in the best shape of his career, and it can come as no surprise that he's using that leverage to issue a rematch challenge to his tormentor!

The Division 2 Championship match becomes the first official bout added to the Battle Royale 2017 card! The event is the first exciting Supercard on the UGP Season calendar, headlined by the annual 40-fighter Battle Royale to determine the #1 Contender to the Undisputed Championship in the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix!

Supercard 88: Battle Royale (January 29th, 2017):
- 40-fighter Battle Royale for an Undisputed Championship shot at Ultimate Grand Prix.
- Poasty versus United: Murdoink (c) [Division 2 Championship]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 1/8/2017

The League Rankings have rebooted for another year. ElJobber's 2017 Grand Slam Launch win assuring him the first official #1 rank for the new year. Tournament 77 results have shaped the majority of the Top 10, with Runner-Up Damo proving there's something to that "Chosen One" talk after all. United: Mime has also made good on his November comeback, reaching the Semi Finals after winning the KFL Championship in a surprising New Year's Resolution title swap!

The traditional January 1st special was a good night for "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile, as well. Not only did she individually defeat The Baron of Death, but also managed to lead a team of Union fighters to a sudden death Survival Sequence victory over The Barons! It seems her hope inspiring performances caught up with her in Round 4 of the Grand Slam Launch, but hopefully there's still fuel in the tank of the former Koalition leader.

Grand Slam Tournaments can be an unforgiving challenge for vulnerable fighters. We saw two more names join the massive 2016 injury list. Corrupt MINION and Unknown265 came out of the war between The Invasion and The Koalition pretty banged up. Their fall was sad, but not unexpected.

Tournament 77: Grand Slam Launch - Finals

The 2017 Grand Slam Launch had provided a highly competitive start to the new year. There were two clear favourites destined to meet in the final, but with a wave of shock exits in the Fourth Round, and unexpected wildcards surviving as deep as the Quarters -- there was still considerable uncertainty ahead of the conclusion to Tournament 77!

#1 seed ElJobber had all the right moves in the early rounds, still flying after his tournament win in the year-end 2016 Master's Series! His greatest threat arguably came in the Second Round, where he destroyed reigning Division 2 Champion - Murdoink. Poasty too had his history with Murdoink, foiled by him in his quest to recapture the title, both at Supercard 87, and Tournament 75! Robbed of the chance to return the favour, Poasty instead set his sights on overcoming the traumatic flashbacks that plagued him late in the year. The Grand Slam Launch had clearly been the acid test Poasty needed. Though he couldn't overcome the overwhelming offense of ElJobber, he faced the challenge head-on without hesitation! The Semi Finals berth will almost certainly assure him the Division 2 title rematch he so keenly desires!

"The Chosen One" Damo had emerged early as a favourite to win the 2017 Grand Slam Launch. He did it the hard way, facing a remarkably tough draw that forced him to overcome Shoe in Round 1, DECEPTION in Round 3, LordSkarlet in Round 4, and The_Purple_Bunny in the Quarter Finals! The gauntlet run had been re-energizing for Damo, whose disastrous loss at Supercard 86 had begun a crisis of confidence. Newly crowned KFL Champion Mime was having a similar resurgence, earning his best win against arch-nemesis TonyTheTiger in the Third Round! An upset win would've suited Mime perfectly, avenging the fall of his teammate in Round 1. The battle proved to be evenly matched, going down to the wire as Damo dug deep to secure victory!

Damo rode the momentum of his Semi Final win into the Grand Final! The opportunity to bounce back in the biggest way was now before him, but ElJobber too had grand designs for going back-to-back as defending 2016 Grand Slam Launch champ, and the reigning Master's Series winner. Both finalists turned up to fight, delivering peak performance for the hotly anticipated finish, but the difficulty of Damo's bracket may have made the difference maker. Another victory for ElJobber!

Controversial "Contender Elect" Genku was in The Great Arena to watch Tournament 77 come to an end. He spitefully congratulated ElJobber on booking himself another tournament win, casting aspersions about the advantages afforded the #1 seed. He warned ElJobber he intends to be a counter-puncher. He's going to prove recent accusations are fake, he is the rightful Contender Elect, and he will be sworn in as Undisputed Champion. An obvious reply to ElJobber's remarks at the end of the 2016 Master's Series, but where will it go? Stay tuned for updates as Season '17 gets under way!
