Supercard 78: Spring Classic (2016)

In the shadow of Ultimate Grand Prix VI, the league says goodbye to Spring with a showcase of the warriors still standing. Will this be the final celebration of a passing era? The New Generation will fight to maintain their inheritance at the top of the league! Invaders will fight to claim their stake! Unholy Alliances will be tested and The United may crumble. It's a new tradition that takes us from UGP Season into the year ahead. This is the Spring Classic!

14. "The Hitman" DECEPTION (c) defeated "The Predator" TonyTheTiger in a solid result. [+1] [Undisputed Championship]
Few fighters were a bigger surprise at Ultimate Grand Prix VI than UGP Battle Royal winner "The Predator" TonyTheTiger! It wasn't just that won the match from the #1 entry -- he also did it while enduring battles with Hokey for half the match, and Battle Royale Runner-Up LordSkarlet, as well! It was the perfect momentum to carry him into an Undisputed Championship match, where the still new champ had an air of vulnerability against the wildcard of TonyTheTiger! The battle of "The Predator" and "The Hitman" certainly didn't disappoint! TTT showed he was no token challenger, arriving with a strong offense that pushed DECEPTION even harder than his UGP title defense! Never the less, the leader of The New Generation showed that it is finally his era. Strong in his rebuttal of the momentum charged challenge! DECEPTION carries the title forward into May, where he'll likely have to answer the call of one of the greatest champions of all time - The_Purple_Bunny!

13. ElJobber, Mime & Hokey defeated "The United" DArqueBishop, Shoe & Artanix in a concrete victory! [+2]
Since taking over management of The United in February; DArqueBishop has expertly navigated the career of Shoe & Artanix back toward the Duo Division Championship. The results are hard to argue with, but when he fired Hokey from the team, many were left scratching their heads! Hokey may have found refuge with United foes The Invasion at Pre-Show 78: Control, but when The Alliance cornered him for a beat down [4/18/2016], it was his former partner Mime who made the save! "The Unholy Alliance" ElJobber & Mime have had their own issues with The United [4/15/2016], setting up the perfect battle of common enemies - except for one thing: Hokey & ElJobber hate each others guts! ElJobber's Undisputed title win at Battle Royale 2016 started Hokey's downward spiral under new management, and the tension was palpable. Mime kept the pair apart to maintain focus on The United, but even in victory, the atmosphere was coarse! The United performed strong as a trio, but couldn't compete with the dominance of three former Undisputed Champions! Is DArqueBishop regretting his decision to axe The Charmed One? This story may not be over!

12. "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J (c) defeated "Guardians of the Crow" Pink_Ranger & Ghostdragon in a massively comprehensive victory! [+1] [Duo Division Championship]
With only 1 loss in their Great Arena career - Hall of Fame team Marz & Violent`J have established themselves as one of the deadliest duos the league has ever seen! Since winning the gold in October, they've marched through a who's who of the Duo Division, accruing eight defenses! "Guardians of the Crow" Pink_Ranger & Ghostdragon may have been nursing the wound of losing their leader to an Iron Man Death Match at UGP6, but their history as the original champions in top form made them a compelling new challenge to Team Xtreme's reign! They didn't disappoint, bringing a match winning performance to the Spring Classic! The only problem was the team they were facing! Marz & Violent`J took their Duo Division prowess to another level - perhaps the single greatest performance by a duo in the history of the division! The domination left Guardians of the Crow nowhere to go! A scintillating 2-on-2 classic that should have everyone fearful of what Team Xtreme can do!

11. VenoMark defeated ShawnMichaels in a dominant bloodletting! [+1/-9] [Steel Cage Fight]
Tensions between VenoMark and The Invasion leader ShawnMichaels go all the way back to February, when ShawnMichaels upset the KFL Champion [2/5/2016] and trash talked the legacy of the KFL sub-league [2/22/2016]! As the rivalry between the pair has grown, ShawnMichaels has repeatedly found ways to duck and dodge VenoMark's challenges - until now! Surrounded by the inescapable metal of The Steel Cage - ShawnMichaels was alone with a monster! With valuable experience in the Steel Cage accrued at UGP6 - VenoMark was able to completely dominate his hated rival! The cage was the ultimate weapon, allowing him to grate and smash ShawnMichaels to a -9 annihilation! The dominant win saw VenoMark escape the cage unscathed. A huge victory!

10. The_Purple_Bunny defeated The Great Genku in very convincing fashion! [+1]
As two of the big winners at Ultimate Grand Prix VI; The Great Genku and The_Purple_Bunny were logical choices to fight for #1 contender privileges. The title ranks had taken a hit amidst the rise of DECEPTION at Tower of Power XV, but Genku seemed to be on the path back toward the title he lost at the tail end of 2015. At least until The_Purple_Bunny reminded everyone why he's one of the greatest competitors in the league today! A super heavyweight performance delivered a perfect win to finally set TPB up for the Undisputed Championship opportunity he's been chasing for months!

9. "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo defeated CCShadow & Scott-Howell in a solid victory! [+1]
They competed in a three-way Duo Division Championship match at Ultimate Grand Prix VI, stepping over each other in their attempts to upset Team Xtreme. This time it was pure 2-on-2 and the chance to settle the score between two of the league's great tandems! CCShadow & Scott-Howell had faired better at UGP and seemed like the veteran favourites, but it was The New Generation who kept the tide of change sweeping through the Spring Classic! They turned it on to take down the slumping classics, setting Baraka_MK & Onryo up as one of the top contenders to the two-man title!

8. Statix (c) defeated King Ken in a comprehensive victory! [+6] [KFL Championship]
A string of big wins including those over AlbertBeefcake [4/11/2016] and The_Hurricane [4/4/2016] made King Ken a logical choice to challenge The Alliance's KFL Champion. Statix was a big winner at UGP6, but Ken's rise as "The King of the World" generated a lot of belief in his potential to upset the new champ. While there's no doubt he has the potential - the dream collapsed at the Spring Classic as Statix dominated the challenger to the tune of a hard hitting +6 impact! A compelling match-up in the new KFL title era, but history Ken probably won't want to remember!

7. "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile defeated "The Chosen One" Damo [+1]
Fighting on the fringes of contention, Damo and CaTigeReptile both suffered setbacks in their title hunt at Ultimate Grand Prix VI. Still carrying the confidence of a lie - "The Chosen One" had a lot of self-belief, but that may have fooled him into underestimating the might of CTR! A casual approach from Damo led to his undoing.

6. Benjamin (c) defeated NovaStarr in a very solid victory! [+1] [Division 2 Championship]
After capitulating in the UGP Battle Royal, many wondered if NovaStarr's best days were behind her. She completely flipped the script during Pre-Show 78, showing once again that she is still a fighter to be feared when masses meet in Battle Royal action! This sudden turnaround had many believing in a Division 2 title change, but the rock that has been Benjamin did not budge! Another confident title defense takes Benjamin to five wins as Division 2 Champion!

5. Jammer2Omega & Porygonix defeated Jerrod & Corrupt MINION in a well earned victory! [+1]
Jammer2Omega & Porygonix are fast turning into one of the top teams of the 2016 Duo Division, but their rise through the ranks suffered a crushing setback at Ultimate Grand Prix VI. The Spring Classic grudge match promised to be a hard fought encounter and it did not disappointed! Jerrod & Corrupt MINION were one of the early teams and their pedigree in 2-on-2 competition is undeniable. In the end, this was just J2O & Porygonix' day. A good win!

4. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane defeated "The Invasion" Shen_DuHBK & Jason_Voorhees in a solid win. [+1]
Shen_DuHBK & Jason_Voorhees turned on The Alliance way back on February 12th, and The Alliance's AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane have never quite got the recompense they desired. At the Spring Classic, that's exactly what was on the table, The Alliance pursuing the team after another ambush during Monday Night Invasion! The Superfriends were at the top of their game - too strong for their former trusted allies! A small consolation for losing control of Mondays to The Invasion at Pre-Show 78.

3. Corrupt UlcaTron & Corrupt hydraslash defeated Sekktor & legoslayer10 [+1]
No longer part of Lucifer's Ladder after this week's FNF; Corrupt UlcaTron & Corrupt hydraslash were ready to fight for themselves! They had attacked Sekktor & legoslayer10 during the April 15th Friday Night Fights, presumably due to their past in the KFL sub-league. The newly formed combo of Sekktor & legoslayer10 hoped to even the score at Supercard 78, but found their early chemistry lacking against the strengthened Corrupt! The solid win puts The Corrupt on a confident path - but where that path will lead them is still a mystery!

2. "The Portuguese Pegasus" Zentile defeated Coltess in a clean result. [+2]
Tensions between Coltess and Zentile appeared to come out of nowhere, starting quietly on the March 25th edition of Friday Night Fights. The pair's dislike for one another escalated in matches on April 1st and April 15th, tensions simmering as they each found themselves in other rivalries. With Poasty relegated to the sidelines, the pair inevitably converged on the Spring Classic. A fact Coltess may be regretting as he capitulated on the big stage, succumbing to a confident performance from The Portuguese Pegasus!

1. "The Alliance" Oozaru & PaganFreak defeated "The Invasion" Loopster & chaos_Drone in a confident take down. [+2]
When Loopster found his way to the Aftershock takeover [4/4/2016] via issues with McDaniel, it seemed he was loyal to The Alliance's coup. The return of Monday Night Invasion and chaos_Drone with it [4/18/2016] changed all of that - revealing Loopster's true colors as a dormant member of The Invasion! Duo Division hopefuls Oozaru & PaganFreak took up the challenge to show him what he's in for, comfortably taking out the pair in an exciting open!
