Supercard 83: Night of Champions V

Many obstacles must be breached before one can be considered among the pantheon of legendary fighters. There are the immortalizing moments of Ultimate Grand Prix and All-Star Summer Showdown, the endurance challenge of Grand Slam Tournaments, and the supremacy of Battle Royale. Each is a vital cog in the machine of greatness, but mere stepping stones on the path to the glory that is the coveted Undisputed Championship!

The trial of the Undisputed Champion is constant. It is a lineage of greatness. An inheritance of glory and responsibility that is both honor and burden! With the crushing pressures of the title comes the refinement of a fighter like carbon into diamond. Those who have tasted its glory become part of something greater than themselves. For one night in every year - this continuum is breached, and the former champions are granted another shot at the big time! This is Night of Champions V!

12. "The Hitman" DECEPTION (c) defeated United: Hokey in convincing fashion! [+1] [Undisputed Championship]
A stunning Night of Champions Battle Royal delivered Hokey to the main event everybody had been waiting for. It wasn't without its trials -- ending in a finish nobody could've seen coming! Could this exhausting match produce a new Undisputed Champion, or was momentum too much to ask for? A Trios loss at Pre-Show 83: Generation Warfare delivered a wounded DECEPTION, but his ability to rise to the occasion of title defenses has become legendary. Indeed, DECEPTION was in fine form at Night of Champions! History dictates that no champ has ever actually lost his gold at the annual event, and at Supercard 83, that tradition would not be broken.

When these old rivals parted, the Undisputed Championship remained decisively with The New Generation! This is hardly the end for this storied contest, though. As winner of Royal Roulette, Hokey retains the right to challenge for any title at any moment! The coveted double-chance may mean Night of Champions was merely a dress rehearsal for the rematch to come! A battle you can bet DECEPTION will meet head-on! Stay tuned to a massive October of action in The Great Arena!

11. Ratt & NightHawk defeated "The Invasion" DaemonX & Banging [+1] [Duo #1 Contenders]
With an unexpected victory over Tournament 74: Grand Slam [Doubles]: DaemonX & Banging announced themselves as a major force enacting upon the Duo Division! They defeated a string of the league's best to become #1 Contenders, but questions concerning their Invasion allegiance to Duo champ Violent`J were quickly answered by the Hall of Famer's entry into the Night of Champions Battle Royal. Rather than interrupt the record setting reign of Team Xtreme, DaemonX & Banging would help prolong - indulging VJ's distraction as guardian contenders. It was a tactic that made Ratt & NightHawk sick -- leading to an inevitable challenge for contention! Ratt beat DaemonX during the Summer Grand Slam, and that familiarity may have helped. With NightHawk, they were surprise Round 1 exits in Tournament 74 - a hard follow-up to their grudge-laden title defeat at All-Star Summer Showdown! At Night of Champions, they bounced back in a legendary battle between two of the most potent forces in the Duo Division today! Ratt & NightHawk remain the only team to have ever beaten Marz & Violent`J in The Great Arena! As #1 Contenders again, their unity in a second chance match could be the final undoing of Team Xtreme - right as they approach an unprecedented record of 1 full calendar year as champions! Supercard 83 marks their 336th day as champs!

10. CaTigeReptile & Poasty defeated "The United" Shoe & Artanix in a competitive match! [+1]
Supercard 81: Royal Roulette was the stage that saw The United reform as a dominating force in The Great Arena. They ditched new manager DArqueBishop and welcomed back injured leader Shoe, using their strength of numbers to earn prodigal son Hokey the Royal Roulette win. Victims of the tactic TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile aligned against the common enemy to take out Mime in a 2-on-1 ambush at All-Star Summer Showdown! Shoe & Artanix picked up the tab on the payback, even as Shoe found a new enemy in Poasty! The cool façade of The United cracked when Shoe went mad on Poasty on the September 16th edition of Friday Night Fights! TTT & CTR came to his aid, but suffered for it at Pre-Show 83! With TonyTheTiger taking advantage of his eligibility to enter the Night of Champions Battle Royal -- "The Guardian" CTR and Poasty united against their common enemy. Remarkably, they found the perfect synergy to match Shoe & Artanix' expert Duo Division assault! They matched the team blow for blow, surpassing them just enough to earn an impressive victory! It's a catharsis for Poasty, who overcame a career threatening injury to return at All-Star Summer Shodown -- only to be beaten, and brutalized by Shoe! A major career win!

9. "The Fallen" LordSkarlet, Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION defeated "The Alliance" UlcaTron, Rockey316 & PaganFreak in a close fought contest. [+1]
The Corruption of UlcaTron's soul lifted mysteriously after Supercard 79, and finally played out on September 5th when he turned on LordSkarlet & The Fallen! The strange case of UlcaTron became clearer after the fact - inspired by the return of m0s at Dead Or Alive IX! It wasn't the elusive former KFL Booker who came to UlcaTron's aid in a Trios grudge match, however, but rather his new allies in The Alliance! Their mission: to defeat LordSkarlet's Fallen, who unveiled a new third member at Night of Champions -- the forgotten soul of Corrupt MINION! He reunited with Lucifer's Ladder teammate Corrupt hydraslash to make a devastating new whole! The Alliance fought well, but it's clear the new Fallen are destined to be every bit as dangerous as the old version!

8. Statix (c) defeated Loopster in convincing fashion. [+1] [KFL Championship]
A three-way contenders match on September 19 delivered Loopster to his title opportunity at Night of Champions. It was a panicked dash for The Invasion, who've felt renewed pressure with Alliance fighter Statix reclaiming the title at Pre-Show 83! Loopter fought well against his countryman, but The Alliance champ was too strong. A significant victory with tensions between the groups heating up anew since Jauger's defection at All-Star Summer Showdnw!

7. "The Invasion" Shen_DuHBK, Jason_Voorhees & edge defeated "The British Exit" ShawnMichaels, Liam & nif in a solid victory. [+1]
A recent spate of chaos during Monday Nights has emboldened the exiles of The British Exit! They were forced from The Invasion by failure at Pre-Show 81, further humiliated by their former teammates at All-Star Summer Showdown! The common link between matches was Shen_DuHBK -- the focus of misery for ShawnMichaels! Liam & nif set the stage for payback during a win on the September 5th edition of Monday Night Invasion, but Jason_Voorhees & edge fired back at Pre-Show 83, fuelled by Jason's loss to Liam in Round 2 of the Summer Grand Slam. The net result of which was another frustrating loss for the Britons at Supercard 83! The result was never in doubt as The Invasion's old allies reunited for a comfortable win.

6. "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo defeated "The Invasion" Chromatose & Shaggy2Dope in a comprehensive victory. [+1]
The New Generation has been at odds with The Invasion ever since Loopster started talking trash about their Undisputed Champion: DECEPTION. The machinations of the group have led them to work to keep Baraka_MK & Onryo out of the Duo Division title chase! At Night of Champions, it was the challenge of Chromatose & Shaggy2Dope to keep them at bay. A task the inexperienced Duo fighters were woefully unqualified for! The New Generation were comprehensive victors, free to watch the Duo Division #1 Contenders match later in the night with intense interest!

5. "The Secret Weapon" SubScorpTile defeated Benjamin (c) in a solid win. [+1] [Division 2 Championship
The Division 2 Championship has seen some exciting matches and intense rivalries throughout 2016, but few have had the competitive weight of SubScorpTile and Benjamin's! Their rivalry peaked at Ultimate Grand Prix VI, where Benjamin seemingly ridded himself of the so-called "Secret Weapon". SST has fought hard to remain in the title hunt, claiming a 2 day reign in August with his surprise win at Dead Or Alive IX! He narrowly missed an All-Star Summer Showdown duel with his rival. Fate instead conspired to bring them together at Night of Champions, where it was finally SST who got the better of Benjamin!

4. Jammer2Omega & Porygonix defeated rxvt & deadly in a strong result. [+2]
Few teams have embodied the spirit of 2016 like Jammer2Omega & Porygonix, but a defeat at All-Star Summer Showdown reminded them they still have a long way to go to be the best in the league! rxvt & deadly knocked off KittyKat & JoelKatz after their upset win at Tournament 74, and backed it up with a Pre-Show 83 rematch. They proved a decent test for J2O & Pory, but nothing the rising combination couldn't handle.

3. ArtemisFlow defeated Jerrod in a hard fought contest. [+1]
With his stand-out performance for Team Canada; Jerrod impressed at the 2016 Summer Olympic Games! ArtemisFlow was at the Games, too, but it's been subsequent performances that have earned Div.2 prominence. Jerrod picked up an elimination win over the Fin in Round 2 of the Summer Grand Slam. At Supercard 83, the result was flipped! A hard fought encounter giving ArtemisFlow a streak of four straight wins!

2. "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade defeated KittyKat & JoelKatz in a solid win. [+1]
In the First Round of Tournament 74: Grand Slam [Doubles]: KittyKat & JoelKatz shocked the world by eliminating Ratt & NightHawk! Following up on the phenomenal upset is proving difficult for the duo, though. "Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade were more than happy to rain on their parade, executing a convincing win on the Supercard stage.

1. United: Hokey eliminated ElJobber to win the Night of Champions Battle Royal!
- 1. Damo elim. Kron
- 2. Damo elim. Genku
- 3. VenoMark elim. TonyTheTiger
- 4. Mimik elim. VenoMark
- 5. ElJobber elim. Damo
- 6. Mimik elim. Violent`J
- 7. Hokey elim. The_Purple_Bunny
- 8. Hokey elim. Mimik
- 9. Hokey elim. ElJobber

At the toll of the opening bell: First strike went to ElJobber, who caught Hokey with a devastating blow! The significance of that strike would not emerge until the end of the match. Instead ElJobber went on a whirlwind tour of rivals, delivering hits to The_Purple_Bunny, Mimik and Violent`J! From there the Battle Royal erupted into an all-out melee of mutual destruction! Fighters smashed against one another like atoms in a collider! Amidst the chaos, Genku and TonyTheTiger briefly curbed ElJobber. VenoMark found himself caught between a pack of six fighters, as well! Mere previews to one second after the six minute mark! At that moment, every fighter's attention was drawn to one figure: Kron!

The Hall of Famer had been the first fighter to declare his entry into the match, announced after a big comeback win at All-Star Summer Showdown! Identified as perhaps the greatest threat in the match - all nine other competitors descended upon Kron! The 9-on-1 beat down left him all but incapacitated! A tactically sound move by all, but a morally reprehensible betrayal of the 'every man for himself' philosophy of the battle! Kron would stagger through a few more hits largely ignored, until "The Chosen One" Damo capitalized to claim the first elimination!

Prior to the mob, it was The Great Genku who'd been trading blows with Kron. He really made no attempt to make friends, alternating between assaults of Kron, ElJobber, The_Purple_Bunny and Damo. This too would eventually lead the field to turn briefly against a single competitor - Genku suffering an almost identical fate as Kron! His Invasion teammate Violent`J tried to come to his aid, but the damage was already done. A second opportunistic elimination for Damo!

United teammates Hokey and Mimik used their aligned Battle Royal expertise to step to the fore. TonyTheTiger tried to form an equalizing alliance with The_Purple_Bunny against his nemesis, but TPB proved more interested in his own glory! The_Purple_Bunny turned on TTT, leaving him wide open for VenoMark to score the elimination! A fact that didn't earn any loyalty from The United! Mimik took great delight in eliminating the nemesis who caused him so much pain at Ultimate Grand Prix VI! Damo was happy to see VenoMark go, too, having just made it back from his own Steel Cage Fight loss at All-Star Summer Showdown!

His recent rival removed: Damo found himself in the crosshairs of current Duo Division Champion - Violent`J! VJ and Marz shattered the Championship duration record previously held by "The Service Krew" Damo & DeathScepter, defeating the pair at Tower of Power XVI. VJ was once again the instrument of destruction for Damo, setting him up for elimination at the hands of ElJobber! The fight clearly took too much out of The Invasion's Y2Juggalo, though. Mimik got him!

With The Final Four split between two members of The United, and the former "2-Man Ratt Trap" ElJobber & The_Purple_Bunny, things may've seemed even. Mimik's aggressions against TPB and a double-team effort by the pair proved too much for The_Purple_Bunny, though. A quick exit having little to do with ElJobber, who was now alone against 2016 Royal Roulette winner Hokey and 2012 Battle Royale winner/one-time "King of the Battle Royal" Mimik!

Recognizing overwhelming odds, ElJobber went on the offensive! Himself a 2-time winner of the Battle Royale match, he looked okay caught between opponents, but then something truly shocking happened. ElJobber managed to convince Hokey to double-team the King of the Battle Royal! To the shock of everybody watching, Hokey and Mimik continued to brawl - neither willing to concede the title opportunity to the other! ElJobber stepped back to let United teammates duel, but he was soon dragged back into the brawl. All three exchanged blows until Mimik and ElJobber became locked in a brutal one-on-one face-off! As ElJobber started to get the advantage -- Hokey struck a knockout blow and eliminated his teammate! The match was to end the way it began, with ElJobber trying to ambush Hokey! Exhausted - they both threw bombs from way down deep.; In the end, Hokey was simply too fresh to be beaten! He eliminated ElJobber to complete the speculated double-chance of a title shot in the main event -- with his Royal Roulette title opportunity in the proverbial back pocket!
