The 5-Team event has been a centerpiece of these Summer Olympic Games, but the validity of the qualifying Heats format was severely challenged by the arrival of Team USA aka; The Dream Team!
Team Malaysia did their best to redeem past efforts, going one better than Team Great Britain in the opening matches with The Dream Team. A valiant effort, but ultimately meaningless as the United States of America stormed their way toward back-to-back Survival Sequence Gold Medals!
AbG was an individual stand-out for Malaysia, while Benjamin had a compelling struggle with Liam & nif of Great Britain. The Division 2 #1 contender, Benjamin, showed great tenacity in all of his battles, but did particularly well against The British, threatening to upend AcidicWonder in an attack that perfectly set up "The Predator" TonyTheTiger!
The action kicked into a higher gear when border rivals Team Canada took on The Dream Team. The final 5-2 result wasn't much better than their contemporaries, but Jerrod emerged on Day 7 with a Herculean effort that resulted in an all-out war with TonyTheTiger! Jerrod drew #1 Contender The Great Genku into the fray. Alas; Genku completely shut down the Canadian offense! Tension built as he fought his way toward the Undisputed Champion and his August 21st All-Star Summer Showdown opponent DECEPTION! The moment didn't disappoint, as both fighters struck critical blows! Everyone watching was anticipating another amazing Olympic moment from the champion, but his Day 5 feats were not to be replicated. A shocking end to give USA their third Heats victory.
Jerrod exploded once again, dominating Team Malaysia with four eliminations! Malaysia's relegation was already assured by their earlier defeat, but they never once gave up fighting. A tenacious effort from a team contesting the event for the first time at these 2016 Games!
The finalists were assured, but the final battle was an exciting rematch between the 2012 Gold and Silver Medal teams: USA versus Australia! Both teams were undefeated to this point, with many buying in to the idea Australia could be the one group to challenge The Dream Team! A belief that quickly started to fade as the rookie frontline of the Aussie offense was dominated by Benjamin. Former KFL Champion Statix came in hot to get rid of Benjamin, but the alarm was sounded when his run was briskly aborted by TonyTheTiger! Hall of Famer Oozaru still had the hopes of a nation in his hands, but his moment in the sun was rapidly dashed by Genku! It was all down to ElJobber and he made his entry count with a devastating assault on the #1 Contender! Elimination seemed assured, but suddenly Genku got off the ropes and started firing back! In an amazing resurgence Genku fought off the fresh man - doing away with the Aussies for a spectacular 5-2 victory!
From the five competing teams emerge four Semi Finalists. Day 10 of the Olympic Games will see Team Canada take on Team Australia in an elimination rematch. Team Great Britain will attempt to avenge their 5-1 loss against Team USA. The winners will then move on to the Gold Medal match on August 19th, with the losers competing for Bronze. Day 10 takes place August 15th!

From the elimination excitement of the 5-Team event, to the first ever Olympic run of the Trios! Day 8 will see teams of three compete for the first ever Olympic Medals awarded in this format! Teams representing six nations are in the hunt, competing in Heats of two classes. It should be thrilling!
