The First Round of the Olympic Duo event produced some of the most exciting competition of the Games thus far! The random draw delivered a particularly scintillating array of match-ups, ranging from the close fought to the sublime stand-outs.
The Australians stood out with their stinging +7 impact against Learn & Clausner, but the pairing of New Zealand Duo Division all-stars Damo & Banging produced a more formidable performance behind the damage. They may be emerging as the Gold Medal favourites, but there are several teams making a convincing push into Round 2!
Jammer2Omega & Porygonix are a surprise pick for the USA Dream Team given the seasoned talent available, but they proved their worth with a solid win. Team Canada's oddball team Mime & Politics were solid winners. Finns ArtemsFlow & Zmoke produced the upset of the event - taking out Hall of Famer Shamrock and his Singaporean teammate EricAngle!
The most anticipated match of Round 2 will be another chapter of the rivalry between "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade and their British Invasion rivals Liam & nif! With only fifteen nations able to contest the event, the former team progressed to Round 2 thanks to a bye. A serendipitous prelude to the next round, scheduled for Tuesday, August 16th!
