Kombat Fight League: Friday Night Fights (3/9)

Round 4 of Tournament 12 may have delivered The_Purple_Bunny another grudge match just one day prior, but the sting of losing the Undisputed Championship had clearly carried over into the Kombat Fight League as TPB issued another challenge in Week 6! A three-way with "The World Warrior" TonyTheTiger and "Mr. Daruma" m0s would backfire as the pair overwhelmed The_Purple_Bunny, taking him out early in a gruelling blockbuster encounter!

"Y2K" knickxasawrrrr gave The Great Genku serious problems, making it a double for the KFL brothers with a stunning unexpected victory! The win no doubt sweetened the disappointment of a loss to chaos_Drone one day prior, during a compelling Tournament 12 match. knickxasawrrrr continues to position himself well in The Great Arena, maintaining a top five spot with the upset win against his brother's rival. knickxasawrrrr will be a change in formula when he teams with m0s at Ultimate Grand Prix 2012 - Test of the Best, in a match against Genku and ShingoEX for the Duo Division Championships!
Topping the KFL ranks, jack4813 with a convincing win against a beleaguered Jerrod. Both Jerrod and redman are yet to secure a KFL victory, redman drawn for a bye. Nephrite had better luck in a surprising nailbiter with Killswitch; while kamikaze-dragon1 missed out in a close fought challenge match against his Week 5 opponent, Jironobou.

KFL Friday Night Fights - Week 6 Results:
1. "Mr. Daruma" m0s d. TonyTheTiger & The_Purple_Bunny in a gruelling 3-way challenge!
2. Ninja_Mime d. CaTigeReptile in a comprehensive result.
3. "Y2K" knickxasawrrrr d. The Great Genku in a comprehensive victory!
4. Nephrite d. Killswitch in a close fought match.
5. jack4813 d. Jerrod in convincing fashion.
6. Methuselah6463 d. Zmoke by a narrow margin!
7. SubMan799 d. dibula in a convincing +2 result.
8. Jironobou d. kamikaze-dragon1 in a close fought challenge!

jack4813 continues to be the dark horse of the Kombat Fight League, maintaining control of the top of the ranks as he and Ninja_Mime maintain a breakaway lead. A main event win has finally given "Mr. Daruma" m0s a ranking reflective of his potential, impact points bumping him into fifth behind his rising brother, "Y2K" knickxasawrrrr. As impressive a performance as it's been for Y2K, the surprise package remains Methuselah6463, a fighter who has flourished well beyond his class since debuting in the KFL!

Grand Prix Warm-Up 2012 Tournament Draw!

The countdown to the biggest event on The Great Arena calendar has officially begun!
April 1st will mark the moment when the greatest fighters in the league converge for a supercard quite like any other! The spotlight of Ultimate Grand Prix 2012 - Test of the Best is enough to stress the mettle of even the most seasoned competitor, but in classic UGP style, the challenge of the grand prix begins long before the night of immortals!

Last year, Tournament 4 offered a ticket to the big show for a select few fighters burgeoning on the big time. In 2012, the Grand Prix Warm-Up assaults all the major players in a full fledged 128 fighter elimination bracket! Council approved seeding has spread key names at opposite ends of each mini-bracket, with recent tournament winners and championship contenders occupying the major poles in a design sure to keep things interesting!

The Great Genku (reigning Tournament 11 winner, current Duo Division Champion) is seeded #1; "The World Warrior" TonyTheTiger (Tournament 10 winner, former Undisputed Champion) is seeded #2; Crow (reigning Undisputed Champion) is seeded #3; and King Mimik (Battle Royale winner and UGP #1 contender) is seeded #4! A randomized draw fills in the gaps between placed fighters in an exciting preview for Ultimate Grand Prix 2012 - Test of the Best!

Beginning March 5 -- the Grand Prix Warm-Up is the perfect platform for the top fighters to launch their way into the middle of 2012! Which new stars will emerge from this unique opportunity, and which legends will secure their place in the spotlight of Ultimate Grand Prix 2012?

Kombat Fight League: Friday Night Fights (3/2)

A string of famous firsts would define the course for Week 5 of the Kombat Fight League!
kamikaze-dragon1 joined the KFL, finding himself thrown straight into competition as Friday Night Fights went to a random draw booking system for the first time! Consistent with FNF's abandoned stat matchmaking; the KFL also experienced its first challenges as The_Purple_Bunny sought revenge against "Mr. Daruma" m0s for his Week 4 defeat, and Nephrite (HRV) requested a special Euroclash against Zmoke (FIN)!

Methuselah6463 and redman managed to break extra new ground, fighting to the KFL's first draw in six events! It may have been a farcry from the victory redman has been chasing, but the result was enough to bump him off the bottom of the rankings, as Jerrod suffered a punishing +7 defeat at the hands of Ghostdragon! With more history and experience in The Great Arena than most fighters, Jerrod shouldn't have much trouble finding his first win as selections go randomized, but anything is possible, and there are plenty of sharks circling top and bottom of the ladder!

It was jack4183 who quietly assumed top spot this week, besting SubMan799 in a repeat of their stat-based encounter of Week 2! Ninja_Mime joined him, trailing by a single loss after he secured a similar, sturdy victory over longtime Duo Division rival, Scott-Howell. Former #1 and reigning Duo Division Champion (w/ ShingoEX), The Great Genku, was not randomly selected for a fight, giving him his second week off since the beginning of competition. The dominant former-leader picked up an impressive win at Komplete Edition against Crow, who hadn't been seen in colosseum competition since turning Turncoat in November, 2011. knickxasawrrrr - another former KFL #1 - found himself relegated to equal fifth, taken down a peg by CaTigeReptile, who joined him evenly on cumulative impact points.

KFL Friday Night Fights - Week 5 Results:
1. "Mr. Daruma" m0s d. The_Purple_Bunny in a solid challenge rebuttal.
2. Ninja_Mime d. Scott-Howell
3. jack4813 d. SubMan799
4. CaTigeReptile d. knickxasawrrrr in a solid +2 encounter.
5. Nephrite d. Zmoke in a close fought challenge match!
6. Ghostdragon d. Jerrod in a comprehensive +7 victory!
7. Methuselah6463 and redman fought to a complete standstill!
8. Jironobou d. kamikaze-dragon1 in a close match-up.

Week 5 proves there's still plenty of room for unknowns in the Kombat Fight League, new events giving way to a significant shuffle of the top ranks. jack4813 emerges as a major player, having existed somewhat beneath notice courtesy of the bigger names calling attention to themselves! He and The Great Genku shared in bonus prizes at Komplete Edition, but find themselves separated as Genku -- one of those noisy big names -- finds himself relegated by a conspiracy of fate. Ninja_Mime, on the other hand, is finally getting over the hump of a slow start to 2012, capitalizing on experience that took him to a reign as Undisputed Champion late in 2011. Experience isn't everything, though. A draw with redman was enough to keep newcomer Methuselah6463 in the hunt, even as another recent debut, knickxasawrrrr, relinquishes the momentum he had prior to enduring his first loss at Komplete Edition. knickxasawrrrr will reteam with his brother, m0s, when they seek their first victory in universal competition at Supercard 21: The Long Hard Road.

Schedule: Another Long Hard Road in 2012!

In less than a month, The Great Arena will play host to the greatest spectacle it has ever seen as Ultimate Grand Prix arrives for the second time in history! Promised to be an event big enough to upstage anything the League has seen before, anticipation is reaching fever pitch as the countdown draws ever nearer! March tradition delivers the final major stop before Ultimate Grand Prix (April 1) and continues the epic begun with Battle Royale at Supercard 21: The Long Hard Road!

The metaphor perfectly fits the path of current Undisputed Champion, TonyTheTiger, who broke new ground with his Championship World Tour -- the first time the Championship has been defended outside The Great Arena! If all goes to plan, The Long Hard Road will mark the return of "The World Warrior" as he completes his final leg in Australia (March 1)! Exactly what he will return to remains uncertain as a dense field of competitors fight amongst thsemselves for the right to challenge for the ultimate prize, The Undisputed Championship!

As winner of Battle Royale 2012, King Mimik waits for his guaranteed opportunity in the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix. Whosoever holds the title come April 1st will meet the King of the Battle Royal one the grandest stage the league offers -- but not before Mimik faces the wrath of 2011 Battle Royale winner, and 2012 runner-up, "The Iron Menace" ElJobber! This match and more will set the stage for the biggest event of the year! Let The Long Hard Road commence!

Supercard 21: The Long Hard Road (March 4, 2012)
1. "The World Warrior" TonyTheTiger (c) returns to defend the Undisputed Championship?
Since claiming the prestigious Undisputed Championship at Pre-Show 20, TonyTheTiger has embarked on a quest of validation and learning the likes of which has never been seen! Inspired by the cynical taunts of wise Grandmaster Wah Hung-Shen; TonyTheTiger renounced his false title of "Master," only to take up the mantle of The World Warrior -- walking the four corners of the Earth in an intercontinental Championship World Tour! TonyTheTiger's unprecedented tour is scheduled to come to an end March 4, when he is set to arrive from his final defense in Australia (March 1), hoping to return the title to its home in The Great Arena in a more conventional defense.

Will TonyTheTiger make it back in time? Will he still in fact be Champion, if he does?
Early speculation suggested TTT's arch-rival and Tournament 10 runner-up, ElJobber, would be waiting to claim the Championship in Australia, but with ElJobber's eyes set firmly on other goals, the path of The World Warrior is an uncertain one! Rumor has it a "perfect" challenger has already staked his claim, should TonyTheTiger return to The Great Arena as champion. Whoever it is, they will be fighting not only for the Undisputed Championship, but also for the final opportunity to arrive in the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix 2012, where Battle Royale 2012 winner, King Mimik, will be the ultimate challenger for the League's top prize!

2. "The Iron Menace" ElJobber versus King Mimik
As the winner of 2011's event, ElJobber guaranteed a second victory at Battle Royale 2012, only to be eliminated last by the one man he failed to take into account: the King of the Battle Royal -- Mimik! Now the "Iron Menace" is out for blood, seeking one final opportunity to humiliate Mimik by inducting him into the MAX Damage Boot Camp, before the BR2012 winner takes his place in the main event of Ultimate Grand Prix 2012! ElJobber will have his own Grand Prix trial when he meets Ratt in a match-up months in the making, but only after bad blood with King Mimik is settled! Just one of the blockbuster matches coming out of the Grand Prix season of 2012!

3. Year of the DaMo versus "The Charmed" Hokey
He's been a stalwart of competition since the beginning, frequently featuring opposite some of the biggest names in the solo and team divisions, but DaMo is no longer satisfied with being just another fighter. After a massive performance in the forty-man Battle Royale, 2012 has been proclaimed Year of the DaMo, but at Pre-Show 20, a certain "Charmed One" rained on that parade when he sought revenge for early elimination! Hokey will once again walk the long hard road, but this time he'll be on the defensive, fending off the ultimate grudge challenge on the way to Grand Prix 2012!

4. ZachAngel & Angelia versus The Great Genku & ShingoEX (c)
A comprehensive performance in Tower of Power IV brought The Great Genku one step closer to his dreams of becoming the first ever Triple Crown winner, allowing he and ShingoEX to secure their first reign as Duo Division Champions! The victory came at the expense of the fighting faithful's captaining team, ZachAngel & Angelia, who at Supercard 19 earned themselves a guaranteed Duo Division Championship shot in an official contender match! Robbed of their opportunity by the new Champions in Tower conditions, Team Agaper's finest return to complete their journey down the long hard road, claiming the title shot that is theirs by right! With Genku showing contempt for the titles he once petitioned for, The Great Arena will no doubt be cheering on the side of angels!

5. Pink_Ranger versus The_Purple_Bunny
Fanfare, or lack thereof, does little to reflect a breakout performance by Pink_Ranger in the opening stages of 2012! After a whirlwind reunion with Ghostdragon during Tower of Power IV; The First Lady of Fights has her eyes once again set firmly on the Undisputed Championship -- and a recently dethroned Undisputed Champion makes for the perfect ticket to title glory! The_Purple_Bunny is none too pleased about his Championship loss, but will have the chance excise multiple demons when he faces the challenge of the woman who shockingly eliminated him from Tournament 11 in a punishing Round 3 upset! Destined paths converge on the long hard road!

6. DECEPTION & Onryo versus Porygonix & xtactics
The former Duo Division Champions begin their path back to the titles when they take on one of the hottest tandems coming out of Tower of Power IV! Porygonix & xtactics may have been unable to climb their way to the top, but they utterly dominated the upstarts of the Challenger 7! They finally get a taste of the big time when their long hard road leads them to DECEPTION & Onryo! It's a make or break situation as the top teams count down to the biggest stage of them all, the Ultimate Grand Prix!

7. SubMan799 & Casselman versus "Mr. Daruma" m0s & knickxasawrrrr
Defeat at the hands of a debuting team (Oozaru & Banging) has pushed SubMan799 & Casselman to breaking point. Coming off of a disappointing performance in Tower of Power IV, the longlived duo will take their chances against another new team -- the recently formed brotherly combination of "Mr. Daruma" m0s & knickxasawrrrr! Despite an unencouraging start as part of the KFL sub-division (at Komplete Edition); m0s not only brings a wealth of experience to the contest, but also a legitimate claim to the Duo Division Championships, which he would love to take away from impetuous arch-rival, The Great Genku! It'll be a fight that could shape the future of the tandem division further down the long hard road!

8. Kron versus TheNomad versus Violent`J
One of the League's most seasoned competitors finds himself sandwiched between two of the newest comers in a highly unpredictable situation. Kron knows plenty about walking the long hard road to Ultimate Grand Prix, but when it comes to TheNomad and Violent`J, he knows almost nothing! After a fierce struggle during Battle Royale 2012 and a solid solo win at Pre-Show 20, Kron will be glad to be rid of the surprisingly powerful Nomad, but what role will Violent`J have to play at Supercard 21 -- and what secret history does he have with TheNomad?...

9. CCShadow & Scott-Howell versus Artanix & foahchon
Their formation was supposed to finally spur one of the League's Duo Division originals to a long awaited Championship, but CCShadow & Scott-Howell have been unsuccessful in every bid to crack that ceiling of the top team ranks! Eliminated from Tower of Power IV by Artanix & foahchon, it'll be an old fashioned case of a grudge bout when these two teams continue the long hard road toward Duo Division gold! Artanix & foahchon have been there before, but if Scott-Howell can't have the titles, he'll have payback!

10. Politics & Menas versus Jerrod & Killswitch
Still riding the fallout from Tower of Power IV, Politics & Menas look to improve their chances with a fresh run in the Duo Division stakes! As members of the Kombat Fight League elite, Jerrod & Killswitch come together for the first time, bringing with them experience in previous team-ups. Even with a tandem pedigree, they'll have their work cut out for them when they clash with Team Agaper's rising stars, a highly motivated combination eager to pay tribute to the group that made them stars!

11. Zmoke versus "The Prodigy" nface
"The Prodigy" attempts to extend his phenomenal win streak to 18-0 as relative newcomer, Zmoke, steps up for his rite of passage! A major proponent of the mysterious and rumored Project Goldberg, nface has shown remarkable penchant for victory, with noteworthy wins over rxvtplfx, SlumDunk, STEROLIZERbfk, and even Championship challenger, ElJobber! As part of the Kombat Fight League sub-division, Zmoke gets his initiation into The Union with a 3-1 record already intact! Is the Finnish newcomer the one to break the streak, or will nface's long hard road continue unblemished? Big time intrigue in this unique encounter!

12. STEROLIZER versus A Leprechaun
At Pre-Show 21; STEROLIZER succeeded in defeating EasterBunny, claiming the seasonally themed icon to be an attention seeker who hadn't earned the right! Believing himself to be the only fighter truly worthy of the distinction of a holiday, he will challenge a mythic Leprechaun minion rarely seen away from St. Patrick's Day celebrations, in his war on holidayhogs. Will the luck of the Irish hold out, or is A STERO For All Seasons a reality waiting at the end of 2012's long hard road?

13. Ken & Bee_07 versus Murdoink & Baraka_MK
Ken & Bee_07 look to continue a successful Tower of Power appearance in a big time Duo Division match-up against Murdoink & Baraka_MK! Ken's recent arrival in the tandem ranks may prove to be the niche he has looking for in a career that has stretched the entirety of The Great Arena's existence! Like Ken; Murdoink has also been seeking his place in the record books for a long time, and will be eager to once again rise to the top of the Duo Division, where the ever elusive Championships remain as yet untouched, despite his status as a a DD Original! Big time team action as long hard roads converge!

14. EasterBunny versus kingjolly
Easter is coming and the EasterBunny is looking for redemption! Defeated by STEROLIZER at Pre-Show 21, it could almost seem as if the seasonally themed competitor had lost his legitimacy. Taking on the inspirational kingjolly -- EasterBunny will try to rebuild his mojo as The Great Arena counts down not only to the annual celebration of Easter, but also the Ultimate Grand Prix!
