Tournament 11: Year Two - Round 3!

January 4, 2012 -- One year ago to the exact day, Tournament 1 pitted 114 men, women and NPCs against each other in a 128 slot bracket to begin a bold tradition in organized competition! One year on, the random draw pulls from over 160 league fighters to fill a bracket without byes, offering glory to only the best of them! Round 3 of Tournament 11: Year Two Begins offers a study in contrast between the then and now, revealing the devastating fluctuations of the modern fight, and the ever diverse roster of competitors vying for that top spot!

T11 Impact Players:
ElJobber +MAX (R1)
Genku +26 (R2)
TonyTheTiger +17 (R1)
The_Purple_Bunny +16 (R1)
Celeste +14 (R2)
Hokey +14 (R3)
Pink_Ranger +14 (R3)
Mimik +13 (R1)
Ghostdragon +4 (R1)
Ninja_Mime +4 (R1)
Porygonix +4 (R2)
Coming a long way from her First Round elimination in T1, Pink_Ranger featured in the Round 3 main event, impressive in her colourful clash with promising contender, The_Purple_Bunny! TPB got a surprise walk-through during Round 2, enjoying the bye created by a double elimination draw between DarkScythe and Twiztid_Ninja. The free pass may have been a step down the primrose path, leading to a cool down that left The_Purple_Bunny punished by a devastating +14 assault at the hands of Pink_Ranger! The shock elimination not only equals the biggest impact for the round, but also clears another heavy hitter from the bottom half of the tour, which already saw one of its seeds eliminated when ElJobber was taken out by Celeste, in Round 2. #3 seed, Hokey, was the other to secure a staggering +14 blow against his opponent, doing away with an upstart Bloodysinner.

Some things haven't changed a year after the seminal tournament event. The man who went on to win Tournament 1, The Great Genku, has continued his path toward 2012 success, enjoying a comfortable +9 win over enthusiastic mid-range target, Jax! As the reigning Undisputed Champion, Genku is enjoying a stay at the top for the first time, fulfilling the objective that eluded him for twelve months, despite being the winner of Tournament 1 -- the event that immediately preceeded the creation of the Championship. As #1 seed, Genku remains a hot favourite to do it all again, but he'll have plenty of competition along the way!

#2 seed and Tournament 10 winner, TonyTheTiger, secured his spot in the Round of Sixteen with another punishing win over MinnyBean. The +10 impact is just another sign of the claws TTT has developed and refined over the last year, taking him from one-time opportunist to confident contender and Honorary Master (as a result of his T10 win)! With two wins over Genku in the Tournament 10 Class Heats, it has to be said that TTT is #2 seed by formality alone!

Mimik made waves with another confident display, never in doubt in his +6 comprehensive win over VenoMark. With The_Purple_Bunny taken out of the running, it's Mimik who stands as most likely to threaten TonyTheTiger's domination over the bottom half. The spread looks much more even for the top, with Porygonix, DaMo, Jammer2Omega and Ghostdragon making bold strides through the field! foahchon too makes a case for himself, a semi-surprise victor over the ever threatening mojo of "Upset Machine" Chiefin! It bares mentioning that J2O -- famed face of The Next Phase movement -- has had an underrated tournament, moving well through the tournament to little review. He'll pose an interesting challenge to The Great Genku when they meet in the opening clash of Round 4!

Baraka_MK, Politics and SubMan799 make interesting submissions to the list, moving through a good draw into the Round of Sixteen. SubMan799 shows further signs of competitive maturation, spoiling the run of Celeste. AlexanderLuthorJr, something of a veteran in The Great Arena despite a degree of obscurity, also adds to an interesting mix in the latter stages of Tournament 11. It has to be said that CaTigeReptile is a disappointing exit, eliminated worthily by Politics.

Tournament 11: Round 3 Results:
1. The Great Genku [#1] d. Jax in a comprehensive +9 win.
2. Jammer2Omega d. KombatKid in a solid +3 showing.

In 2012 it all begins again! Tournament 11 passes the milestone of the original date, bringing with it an exciting line-up for the final stages of competition! The Round of Sixteen will battle it out to determine the top fighters of Year Two, setting the stage for an entire age of combat!

The Next Phase collides with the Undisputed Championship in the co-main event of Round 4! The Great Genku [#1] may be enjoying the most fruitful stint of his career, but that only makes him a better launching pad for the prototype for the next phase, Jammer2Omega! Contention will be on the mind of Ghostdragon when he enters into the second main event of the stage, hoping to benefit from the tradition of fortune that comes to those who defeat "The Charmed" Hokey [#3] under tournament conditions! The winners of each bout will take major favourite honors with them as they progress to the Quarter Final stages!

Also of interest: Mimik looks to stake his claim; Pink_Ranger faces Politics in her attempts to continue her momentum; Porygonix and DaMo collide in an intriguing match-up; and Master TonyTheTiger [#2] takes on the conspired attack of CCShadow!
