The first ever Kombat Fight League Special produced significant twists as every available KFL competitor was arranged for Komplete Edition! Even "The World Warrior" TonyTheTiger, who is currently nearing the end of his Championship World Tour, was able to participate, even if it meant The_Purple_Bunny finding himself in China to accomodate his KFL debut. TPB ultimately wouldn't need a lot of encouragement, the bout giving him his first real shot at a reprisal against the man who took the Undisputed Championship from him, back at Pre-Show 20!
The alliance between the KFL and The Union of The Human League was consolidated in the unusual pairing of CCShadow and ElJobber -- a fighting odd couple, if there ever was one! The biggest surprise of the event, however, had to be the return of Crow to ranked competition! The storied three-time Tournament winner shocked everyone when, in November of 2011, he went Turncoat, walking away from The Great Arena after suffering another defeat at the hands of the Barons of Mislukking (Supercard 16: War Games)! Still regarded as one of the greatest fighters in history; Crow's arrival in KFL seemed to spell a much needed threat to the potential dominance of The Great Genku! Their history includes a main event rebuttal during Crow's record-setting second reign as Undisputed Champion, when he punished Genku in a sixth successful defense at All-Star Summer Showdown during a twenty-five match win streak! History is not always doomed to repeat itself, however.
Continuing the theme of the Komplete, the KFL hosted its first three-way and two-on-two contests.
The Duo bout gave "Mr. Daruma" m0s & knickxasawrrrr their first opportunity to step out as a pairing! The new union came about at Pre-Show 21: Tower Fallout, when knickxasawrrrr continued his undefeated streak into the universal ranks with a win over m0s' previous partner, Nemesis316! Unfortunately, the brothers started poorly, succumbing to a staggering +30 duo annihilation -- a rarity in tandem competition! The result throws a question mark over the change for m0s, who has been chasing the Duo Division Championships, but also reveals intriguing potential for the pairing of "The Iron Menace" ElJobber with CCShadow, who usually teams with Scott-Howell. Howell enjoyed a successful solo stint away from his partner, picking up a comprehensive win in one of the three-ways. Zmoke had success in the other match, very narrowly escaping the keen advance of redman, who is yet to secure any wins in his brief, six match career, despite several close calls.
CaTigeReptile reversed SubMan799's upstart fortunes, turning the tables on the surprise Week 4 winner with a +2 victory. TonyTheTiger was the other member of the +2 club, reprising his role as victor over The_Purple_Bunny -- who also seems to have had his potential to soar, clipped. No such ailments threatened jack4813, however, who enjoyed a convincing win over Jironobou to continue their polarized trajectories. Killswitch and Ninja_Mime also enjoyed wins.
Three months of fight rust clearly got the better of Crow, whose presence has taken a massive hit since he last competed regularly. The Great Genku would show no signs of intimidation, a much better equipped competitor than days past -- unimpressed by a comparatively timid Crow! It was a respectable showing from both, to be sure, but in the end, Genku returned to the top of the ladder with a solid win.

The special event opportunity extended little in the way of competitor leads, with the glut still closely stacked this early in the season. Genku returned to the top of the table on impact points, but will be looking over his shoulder as knickxasawrrrr looks to return to the winners list. Scott-Howell joins the top five, leapfrogging four other fighters with a 3-2 record: SubMan799, Methuselah6463, Killswitch and Ninja_Mime!
