Tournament 64: Grand Prix Warm-Up - Day 1

The biggest shock coming out of Day 1 of Tournament 64: Grand Prix Warm-Up 2016 may have been that there weren't any major shocks! The tradition of early upsets was waylaid by an even spread in the randomly drawn bracket, and strong performances from most concerned. The biggest exit came in a hard fought loss for dark horse contender "The Predator" TonyTheTiger. The match was a must-win situation for King Ken, whose Tower of Power XV run left him worse for wear!

The_Purple_Bunny reversed his Tournament 63 fortunes, earning the most dominant performance of the day as the #3 seed. Reigning Undisputed Champion "The Hitman" DECEPTION showed his fighting spirit, entering #1 seed in the last opportunity he has to prepare for his Ultimate Grand Prix opponent - Hall of Fame Battle Royale winner: Kron! A ballsy move for the champ, who might have otherwise kept himself fresh for UGP. With HOF fighters eligible, it will be interesting to see if Kron does the same on Day 2. He hasn't fought since earning the right to challenge for the title.

m0s started the T64 casualties list with a somewhat surprising and disappointing -1up loss for recent Duo Division commodity Politics! The United's new management won't be pleased with Artanix being eliminated by Mime, even if it was one of the matches of the round. The Invasion will have more to be pleased about: ShawnMichaels, Banging, AcidicWonder, Shen_DuHBK & TripleH all advancing!

KFL Champion Banging was one of three champions progressing - Division 2 Champion Benjamin also dominant over Red_Spaniard! Many prospective Div.2 fighters remain active, with former champion Shen_DuHBK next up for the champ!
