September 1, 2011 -- In only the second one hundred and twenty-eight fighter pool fielded in The Great Arena, sixteen fighters were selected to represent the top ranks and challenge any who would attempt to negotiate the random draw of the early rounds! These sixteen fighters were, for the most part, speculated to be the most likely to progress to the final stages, but as fate would have it, Pink_Ranger [#16] was the first to fall [Day 3]!
Against all odds, Mimik [#11] joined PR in the biggest shocker of the tournament First Round! The former top ten power player was treated to an utterly surprising +11 trouncing in the second biggest impact of Day 4, trounced by unlikely dominator, Vultyrex! Taking the edge off the upset was an even bigger +14 impact registered when Toryn [#5] unleashed a more expected decimation upon ScottK.
Though he was able to avoid a surprise exit, DeathScepter [#13] certainly faced a challenge as he took on unixpunk in a close fought match. It was a strong showing for a fighter whose most prominent outing was an upstart showing in the January Battle Royal 2011. Ratt enjoyed a comfortable settling of Mandijadeee to close the round, far less convincing than the +30 open delivered by Cr0w in the first fight, but no less successful.
Poasty ensured SlumDunk's time at the bottom would be continued, delivering the fighter his eighth unanswered loss in another 'Battle for the Bottom' clash. At the opposite end, Chromatose picked up another win to buoy his deceptively high rated statistical successes. Ken and SmokeRulz had likewise success, with Blaze entering the winners circle in her first bout!

Round 2 kicks off on Day 5 as the fighters from the beginning of the week begin to converge toward one another. The seeds remain the strong favourites, with most looking forward to relatively safe opponents in the Second Round. Kron [#4] will follow his First Round dangermatch with STEROLIZER with another feature fight against the unchecked threat of Baraka_MK! Brother in arms, Porygonix [#14] will also have his nerves tested against the tournament "Upset Machine", Chiefin!
CaTigeReptile will lock up in another interesting battle of the random draw, taking on ShingoEX as she attempts to reassert herself as one of the big game hunters of The Great Arena! TonyTheTiger [#10] will be another feline fighter looking to find the animal within, looking for a breakout performance to follow his transformation in Tournament 7, where the opportunist became a predator!
