Anticipation for Supercard 80: Tower of Power XVI took over Friday Night Fights as the teams of the Duo Division scrambled to solidify their position ahead of the title opportunity. Ten top teams will form the June 19th Tower of Power, with a selection of wildcards chosen for the Challenger 7!
Returning from a disastrous Duo Division Championship match back at Supercard 76: Ratt in a Cage; Unknown265 & mwgrant0 attempted to fast track their way to a championship rematch by taking on the anointed #1 team - "The Service Krew" Damo & DeathScepter. Being several months out of competition didn't seem to do the returning side any favours. The Service Krew dominated the match - fighting for the chance to end Team Xtreme's reign before they break their record run of ten successful title defenses!
Old rivals "The United" Shoe & Artanix will likely be one of The Service Krew's biggest threats to a return title reign. The main event battle of trios organized last week by DArqueBishop seems to have reinvigorated the pair! This time they dominated "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo, whose rise to the top of a new era has been upset in many ways, including DECEPTION's title loss at Supercard 79: Purple Reign! "The Hitman" will get a title rematch at Pre-Show 80.
Jammer2Omega & Porygonix, Sekktor & legoslayer10, NosajSamoht & Shinnokxz, and Dolce & Bofh were the big Duo winners this Friday. They're sure to factor into consideration for Tower of Power XVI. Less likely; the unusual pairing of Leroy & Dez-Burnett -- British fighters who came together to fight countrymen Liam & nif. The latter were surprising losers this time out, having had a string of recent wins against their British and European counterparts [see; 5/27/2016]. Liam & nif maintain that being lumped in with other fighters of Europe is simply "defeating themselves". An attitude Leroy & Dez-Burnett clearly don't agree with!
Reigning Division 2 Champion The Great Genku doesn't agree with "The Franchise" Poasty being booked for a return grudge match at Pre-Show 80. Poasty responded the best way possible, picking up a solid win over one of his last opponents before injury: Killswitch! Poasty remains hungry to take on Genku, who will be forced to defend his title in the process. A blockbuster match that continues to grow in intrigue as their opposition grows!
