For most, the return of "The Franchise" Poasty was something to celebrate. His victory over xort during last week's Friday Night Fights came with a simple request - a grudge match against the man who put him on the shelf for over a month: Division 2 Champion - The Great Genku!
After careful consideration, League officials announced the match for Pre-Show 80, but not everyone is pleased. Genku has taken exception to a challenger who he feels hasn't earned the right to contest the highly sought after championship!
League official Mick had this to say: "Genku is right to defend the honor and prestige of the Division 2 Championship, but I don't think he's giving his opponent due credit. When you look at what Poasty has achieved this year, I think it's clear to see he's a worthy challenger. This is a story worthy of the marquee. A match people want to see!"
It's not the first time Genku has been challenged by a fighter with a grudge. "The Secret Weapon" SubScorpTile fought his way back from a Genku beatdown to issue a challenge for Supercard 79: Purple Reign. The objection has some wondering if Genku may be feeling the pressure of one of the most aggressively contested titles.
"Genku poses a huge obstacle for every Division 2 fighter - he's a former Undisputed Champion! The upside of that is the opportunity that comes with being the one fighter who manages to rise to that. When someone takes that title back, it's going to be a major moment!"
Poasty gets his shot June 12th on a stacked Pre-Show 80 card that also includes an Undisputed Championship rematch between "The Hitman" DECEPTION and the record setting six-time title holder: The_Purple_Bunny!
