Supercard 10: Tower of Power II!

July 31, 2011 -- Tournament 7: The Next Phase granted the waiting wave of would-be competitors the chance to shine. The willing and grateful battled their way through a sixty-four fighter bracket to determine the next great hope to challenge the upper echelon of league competition!

The Next Phase offered the opportunity to be counted! No the unofficial top ten contenders to the Undisputed Championship are granted equal opportunity to prove themselves in the concept known as The Tower of Power! With the reigning champion poised at the top of the tower, these ten contenders will first defend against the attack of the qualifying Challenger 7 — before eliminating each other until there is one lone contender against the Undisputed Champion!

The people of The Great Arena stand united on this night, unified by their mutual goal to become Undisputed Champion, but more awaits them at the top of the ladder than mere titles. The fight for one man will be about much more than personal glory. This is the ultimate challenge of a phenomenon that represents the ultimate spirit of competition. This is The Tower of Power II!

Tower of Power Bonus Round:
21. Sinvida Von Grimm d. Cr0w in a +5 decimation!
In April, Cr0w famously got the best of Ares Menschlich -- the third Baron of Mislukking -- in an extra-Arena match that rallied the spirits of the oppressed people of the Cheevment Kingdom! Such a feat was thought impossible against a Baron of War of such immense power and lust for combat! Given the pride and instrumental role Menschlich has had in shaping the competitive ranks, it was with suspicious absence that he failed to appear in regular rank to attack Cr0w!

Instead, The Great Arena was sent into a hushed silence as Sinvida Von Grimm -- the rarely witnessed Baron of Death -- made his debut in The Great Arena! The eerie figure sent a chill through the Arena, projecting a presence far beyond any mortal debut! Even this dominant Undisputed Champion appeared to shrink in the presence of such awesome power, the roles reversed as Death resisted objection with a +5 decimation!

After the excesses of Cr0w's domination over ElJobber, it was to be a sombre close to Supercard 10! The silently Baron of Death dragged his compadres away in a cloud of smoke, leaving the decimated figure of Cr0w to be a symbol in the centre of the colloseum. The return of the Barons of Mislukking seems unprovoked, but what secrets lie within their mysterious ranks? Only time will tell!

20. Cr0w d. Praga Conquette in a decimation!
While the sickly Second Baron has rarely posed an immediate threat to the fighters of The Great Arena, the pestilence spread by Praga Conquette is widely regarded as responsible for the mysterious sickness that is known to sap fighters of their strength in vital moments. It has been a long time since Cr0w felt such fatigue, but could his success against Famine have endangered his chances as Undisputed Champion?

It seemed as if Cr0w would have little to fear from even the vile contagions of Praga Conquette! Once again he unleashed a combative competence that left his feared opponent embarassed! Another +2 decimation confirmed Cr0w's power, dismissing the Baroness of Pestilence before she could render him at all weakened...

19. Cr0w d. Bez Busshitsu in a decimation!
Tensions between the ranks of the Barons of Lord Mislukking and the fighting denizens of The Union of The Human League had seemingly ended some months ago, but with the return of the Tower of Power comes the return of a final confrontation between the people's champion and the vile villains who seek to oppress everyone who leaves The Great Arena alive!

The Baron of Famine -- Bez Busshitsu -- is the first to challenge, as Cr0w finds himself confronted with the task of fending off the threat of the four barons, in appropriate ascending order.

Famine has tasted defeat at the hands of Cr0w before, notably in matches at Supercard 4 and Supercard 5. The script was to be no different, the dominant Champion abundant in his reserves as he fended off the lecherous advances of the not-so feeble fiend! A +2 impact made sure Bez Busshitsu felt the sting of his defeat, but the war was far from over for Cr0w!...

The Tower of Power:
18. Cr0w (c) d. ElJobber (#6) in a solid +3 decimation.
The atmosphere was electric as ElJobber stood poised to challenge the Undisputed Champion in a rematch of their mid-match clash in the main event of Supercard 9! ElJobber had entered the SC9 match with a 1-1 record against Cr0w, but this dominant Champion showed considerable grit in his defense of the title, establishing a record fourth win as champ against this formidable opponent! Cr0w's position at the top of the Tower of Power had introduced a dichotomy of expectations, respectful of the total domination he has exhibited in an undefeated streak of fifteen matches, but ever aware of the inevitability of an end. If Cr0w could successfully retain, his cumulative reign as Champion would extend to a phenomenal 100 days! If he were to lose, a new Undisputed Champion would rise amidst controversy and innuendo!

The stakes were too high for emotions to come into it -- the crowd split in silent awe as the unstoppable contender nobody saw coming collided with the immovable Champion whose success has never before been witnessed! The match truly had the makings of a blockbuster bigger than any The Great Arena has ever hosted before -- but this was not going to be the close quarters affair the two engaged in at Supercard 9! In fact, it was an all together anti-climactic moment as the euphoria of uncertainty gave way to an understanding of logic!

ElJobber fought with a tenacity worthy of acknowledgment, but this controversial figure was walking in to a battle with a Champion fighting at full force! Cr0w responded to the challenge with a fight that would have toppled anyone in the Tower of Power! A force that ripped through ElJobber's best defenses and ended his blitz through the competition with a +3 impact that failed to numerically underscore the importance of the decimation! The clash of titans may have made for effective punctuation, but just as in the first Tower of Power, the fight is not over for the Champion on this night...

17. ElJobber (#6) d. Genku (#1) in a comprehensive result.
A twelve-man contender battle royal at Supercard 9: Royal Roulette handed Genku the unique opportunity of a Championship double-chance! Positioned as number one contender in an official capacity, Genku enters the Tower of Power with a minimum requirement of two victories to be crowned Undisputed Champion -- with a guaranteed shot at Supercard 11: All-Star Summer Showdown in August waiting if he proved unsuccessful!

Indeed, Genku would have been grateful for the second-chance shot in August, facing off against an ElJobber who seemed to be gaining momentum the further he went into the elimination draw! Shocking everyone with his decimations of premiere talent, ElJobber was relatively unphased by the status of the current #1 contender! Genku fought a strong fight, going a step further than The_Purple_Bunny in his challenge against the raging charge of an ElJobber fighting possessed!

Despite being clearly phased, the once described "conscience" of The Great Arena executed a confident win over Genku -- ending the #1 contender's dreams of taking two bites at the top prize! Genku will meet the reigning Undisputed Champion in the main event of one of the biggest events The Great Arena will have ever witnessed -- Supercard 11: All-Star Summer Showdown (August 14)!

16. ElJobber (#6) d. Mimik (#2) in a +13 annihilation!
A longtime peripheral contender; Mimik narrowly missed out on securing himself the double-chance top spot when he played runner-up to Genku in a contender battle royal at Supercard 9! Poised for a little payback, if not a shot at the Undisputed Championship -- Mimik had every reason to duplicate his success in the original Tower of Power!

In the original Tower, Mimik breezed past ElJobber in his climb through the ranks, but this time it was to be a reversal of roles! Mimik looked severely weakened as ElJobber unleashed yet another unbelievable decimation upon an opponent! A +13 impact left the #2 worse for wear as ElJobber's stock continued to rise in direct proportion to approval! No amount of apologising could stem speculation that there was more going on in The Great Arena than a well earned rise.

15. ElJobber (#6) d. The_Purple_Bunny (#3)
Victory in Tournament 7 had delivered The_Purple_Bunny the ultimate opportunity to ride the wave of The Next Phase to the grandest prize of competition! His performance in the tour had made a compelling case for TPB as a contender in waiting -- even though his primary goal since returning from the afterlife has been to avenge crimes committed by the vile Shoe!

The_Purple_Bunny proved his victory in Tournament 7 was no fluke -- taking the fight to ElJobber every step of the way! Locked in mortal combat, the pair engaged in an impressive struggle, but in the end, it seemed as if ElJobber simply could not be denied in his quest for the Undisputed Championship! The_Purple_Bunny will no doubt progress to Supercard 11 with his eyes squarely focused on Shoe -- but it's clear that when he's finished exacting revenge, there will be a future Championship match waiting for him!

14. ElJobber (#6) d. Hokey (#4) in a +12 decimation!
Pipped at the Semi Final stages of Tournament 7, the second of the reigning Duo Division Champions was in a keen position to claim the solo prize that has so often eluded him! Like his partner, Hokey has a long history in The Great Arena as a solo competitor, a regular of Tournament finals who has never quite reached the acclaim of Undisputed Champion! Ranked one better than his partner off the back of some valuable wins, it seemed as though Hokey should have fared better than his partner -- but alas, it was not to be!

Hokey looked far from his best as ElJobber met the match with unrelenting force! Despite being remorseful in success, ElJobber showed no signs of leaving anything to chance, unleashing a shocking +12 decimation upon the fan-favourite! Despite denying the allogations laid against him, ElJobber had to curry suspicion as he pursued a Championship rematch with the kind of determination that could easily drive a man to do unreasonable things!

13. ElJobber (#6) d. Ninja_Mime (#5) in a +3 decimation.
The first of the reigning Duo Division Champions showed plenty of spark in his face-off for a shot at the ultimate solo prize! Ninja_Mime has a strong base of successful solo competition, but appeared rusty alone against the elimination threat of ElJobber.

It was a steadily mixed reaction from fans as the #6 unleashed another powerful attack, rocking Ninja_Mime in ways few could have expected. Some punters were anticipating the possibility of another showdown between the reigning tandem champs -- like the one that occurred as a result of random draw during Tournament 7 -- but such an outcome was never within the reach of possibility! ElJobber appeared almost apologetic as he unleashed a +3 decimation!

12. ElJobber (#6) d. Ratt (#7) in a decimation.
The possibility of a fairytale run to the finish for Ratt seemed ever so tantalizing as he progressed through the elimination stakes! Pre-Show 8 saw Ratt decimate ElJobber in a first-time meeting that earned him an unsuccessful Championship match at Supercard 8. While history was on his side, it seemed as if ElJobber, who was similarly unsuccessful in his challenge for the title at the following Supercard 9, had learned a lot from their encounter!

ElJobber turned the tables on his opponent, fending off the fan-favourite's assault to return fire with an elimination attack that earned back at least +2 points on the impact scale, an confident evening of their record against each other. ElJobber was humble in victory, acknowledging the competitive spirit of his opponent, returned in kind by Ratt. It was an act met with mixed reactions in light of Tyrant-Cenobite's accusations that ElJobber was responsible for an unprovoked attack at the 2011 Ultimate Grand Prix!

11. Ratt (#7) d. Toryn (#10) in a +20 annihilation!
With an impressive eight victories fuelling Toryn in the elimination stages, it seemed as if the #10 might make a legitimate challenge for the Undisputed Championship! Alas; this often lamented antagonist of The Great Arena did not count on the stone wall stagnancy of the fan-favourite hero of the people -- Ratt!

Having righted the wrongs of recent past with a MAX damage impact in his open challenge at Pre-Show 10; Ratt seemed to be primed for another stellar performance under Tower of Power conditions! It was in the original Tower of Power, at Supercard 5, that "The Iron Man" earned his first reign as Undisputed Champion by defeating Toryn in the final stage of the unique event. It seemed history was destined to repeat itself as Ratt unleashed a staggering +20 impact on a Toryn who seemed to drop away under the intense conditions. Unsporting in the face of defeat, the bashful Toryn seems sure to seek revenge against his apparent nemesis in the near future!

10. Toryn (#10) d. TonyTheTiger (#8)
Where once Toryn was regarded as an overzealous antagonist for The Great Arena, TonyTheTiger had made his name on carefully plotted schemes of opportunity. During Tournament 7, the sly Tiger showed a different side, proudly unleashing a series of decimations that rocked The Next Phase, and painted a picture of a legitimate contender!

His dominating tournament performance may have legitimately earned TonyTheTiger a position within the Tower of Power elite, but any designs of the same treatment to the ranking elite were premature. Toryn was able to fight off this future contender, earning an impressive victory in a bout that is sure to be reprised sometime in the future!

9. Toryn (#10) d. Pink_Ranger (#9) in a decimation.
It had been a slow start for Toryn in an upset loss to STEROLIZER, but the bottom rung of the Tower of Power had quickly righted himself, peaking at the right time with what could ultimately have been called an opressive domination of the lauded Challenger 7!

Enjoying the momentum of a chain of victories, he entered the elimination rounds with renewed status and a clear eye for the Undisputed Championship waiting at the top of the Tower! The first lady of fighting would not be intimidated so easily, but even Pink_Ranger had to know her chances of rising to meet her Team Cr0w leader were slim. Her allegiance had been the subject of speculation during hype rounds, but any gameplan was to be for moot. Toryn was swift and effective in his clash with Pink_Ranger, delivering a confident +2 impact to the former Duo Division Champion!

The Challenger 7:
8. Toryn (#10) d. Ken in a comprehensive result.
As the final qualifying challenger, Ken had the weight of the world on his shoulders and a daunting task laid ahead of him! As a challenger in the previous Tower of Power, Ken achieved multiple wins before his exit, a memoir of brighter times for this well regarded stalwart of The Great Arena! Toryn and he were certainly familiar, but it was Toryn's extensive competitive base that gave him a clear advantage against the fallen idol of fighting! Ken fought well against a fatiguing Toryn, but remained inconsistent in his rate of victory, competitive, but comprehensively handled, none the less. A humble end to the Challenger 7!

7. Toryn (#10) d. Ghostdragon in a comprehensive win.
With a growing list of missed opportunities frustrating fans of Ghostdragon, his qualification for the Challenger 7 represented yet another return chance to make a difference in The Great Arena. The former Duo Division Champion made a valiant effort to follow through, but once again seemed to lack the necessary X-factor to rise to the occasion of a major match-up. Toryn was censored to a standard degree of punishment, perhaps fatiguing after his explosion in the previous bouts, but still looked completely confident in his comprehensive handling of Ghostdragon! GD once again becomes a footnote of history, while Toryn makes a compelling case for his own impending challenge of the written record!

6. Toryn (#10) d. DaMo in a +6 decimation.
Where DeathScepter might've entered the Great Arena with some sense of confidence, his Duo Division partner must have felt trepidation! Indeed, it was another entry into the lion's den as Toryn showed the strength he lacked in the opening battles. DaMo did better than his buddy to resist the assault, but was still forced to enduer a +6 onslaught that left him well and truly spent!

5. Toryn (#10) d. DeathScepter in a +13 annihilation!
Any doubt about Toryn's preparation for the Challenger 7 evaporated as he sparked to life in a shocking fourth match against star of the Duo Division -- DeathScepter! The bizarre one could've been forgiven for entering the fray with a measure of confidence, but would quickly become the victim of what seemed to be a mounting sense of momentum from the frontline defender! Toryn annihilated DeathScepter with a staggering +13 impact, building up a head of steam as the Tower of Power eliminations loomed ever nearer!

4. Toryn (#10) d. Artanix in a confident win.
It seemed as if the Challenger 7 were going to get the jump on a beleaguered #10, but Toryn seemed to be finding his rhythm by the time Artanix lept into battle! Artanix did well to follow up his unexpected Semi Final berth in Tournament 7 with qualification for the C7, but it seemed any notion of a dream run was about to come to an end. Toryn fought well, securing a confident win, despite inflicting a minimum of damage to the rising star.

3. Toryn (#10) d. unixpunk in a near draw!
unixpunk had been something of a surprise qualifier at Pre-Show 10, but with Toryn struggling in his first Challenger 7 defense, it was slightly less surprising when unixpunk took the fight to the number ten rung! Toryn looked shabby as he fended off the unixpunk assault, but in the end, he was able to avoid a second consecutive loss, narrowly fighting off the upstart contender to save face by the skin of his teeth!

2. Pink_Ranger (#9) d. STEROLIZER in a comprehensive win.
Any threat of a runaway performance by STEROLIZER was soon to be quashed, a confident Pink_Ranger getting off to an early start in her Tower of Power journey. STEROLIZER was competitive in his second rung outing, but it still only required a half-power Pink_Ranger to get the job done, the former Duo Division Champion comprehensive in her defense.

1. STEROLIZER d. Toryn (#10) with a +14 impact!
Granted a Challenger 7 wildcard by The Union of The Human League, STEROLIZER was never supposed to be a legitimate threat to the Tower of Power. His frequent boasting was noteworthy only for its perceived total lack of basis, but in recent times, STEROLIZER has begun to show legitimate potential as one of the peripheral competitors of The Great Arena! Indeed, it looked like it was going to be a terrible day for Toryn as he suffered a shocking +14 impact from a comprehensive defeat in the first match of the Supercard!

A series defined by the council's unofficial top ten provides compelling data for the reformation of a new ladder! Toryn exits with an impressive eight wins from the bottom spot, while ElJobber defied expectation and goodwill with his six-match winning streak into the Championship match!

Genku remains the official #1 contender as he awaits his shot against Cr0w in August, while The_Purple_Bunny remains strong in a close fight with ElJobber, with his Tournament 7 victory already acknowledged in his Tower of Power position. Mimik can't say the same, lucky not to fall further than fifth after a winless appearance that registered the second biggest impact of the night! Lucky for Toryn he balanced the indignity of a loss to STEROLIZER with all those wins, even though he bookended his success with a +20 horror against a charging Ratt!

Ratt also earned himself a MAX damage win against JRF at Pre-Show 10 -- a mite more impressive than the Duo Division Champions, who remain glued together as they plummet to seven and eight after enjoying top five status. The final two keep the status quo, but the top ten will no doubt be challenged in August as the likes of DaMo, DeathScepter, Jammer2Omega and more return to Supercard competition in a massive event! Oh, and what's this? Rumors around the Arena say a recently deceased competitor might be on the way back!

Champion: Cr0w
#1 Genku
#2 ElJobber
#3 The_Purple_Bunny
#4 Ratt
#5 Mimik
#6 Toryn
#7 Hokey
#8 Ninja_Mime
#9 Pink_Ranger
#10 TonyTheTiger

With an impressive six wins over the cream of competition, ElJobber surely secures himself a legacy of top contender status that has, until now, eluded him. A three-time drop-out in the Championship stakes, he is surely a competitor who will be driven to face each coming obstacle with fierce determination, but could that will to win already be responsible for leading ElJobber down a dark path? Success in The Tower of Power has bred suspicion as he faces accusations from Tyrant-Cenobite -- did ElJobber do it? Hopefully answers will be found August 7 as The Great Arena plays host to a very special Pre-Show 11: Truth or Consequences!

Victory in the Tower of Power confirms Cr0w's eighty-ninth day as a holder of the Undisputed Championship! August 14 will mark the one hundred and third day of cumulative possession when Cr0w defends his title against the Battle Royal winning Genku at the massive Supercard 11: All-Star Summer Showdown! Can Genku break the fifteen match winning streak, or will this new contender simply be a sixth name on a record breaking list? All that and more, stay tuned for the hype!

HYPE: Tower of Power II Top Ten Revealed!

Tournament 7 initiated a Next Phase of opportunity in The Great Arena, eventually crowning The_Purple_Bunny as the impending big thing in league competition. He will cash in on this Next Phase opportunity as a newly instated top contender in the ultimate realization of the race for the grand prize!

The unofficial top ten contenders to the Undisputed Championship are granted equal opportunity to prove themselves in the concept known as The Tower of Power! With the reigning champion poised at the top of the tower, these ten contenders will fight from bottom to top once they have repelled the assault of the Challenger 7 -- eliminating each other until there is one lone contender against the Undisputed Champion -- Cr0w!

With a devastating victory over Ratt (at Supercard 9) lending weight to his frequent claims of contender qualification; STEROLIZER has been granted automatic acceptance into the Challenger 7. The remaining six challengers were decided in a series of three-way contests at Pre-Show 10: Tower II Qualification. The Challenger 7 will attempt to scale the ladder of contenders, but if they fail, the Tower turns in on itself for the final eliminations!

Those are the stakes -- let's meet the current unofficial top ten!

Champion: Cr0w (26-5-0) [Previous Rank: Champion]
With a cumulative Championship reign of eighty-nine days; Cr0w has positioned himself as the most dominant human force The Great Arena has ever seen. He makes for a daunting final obstacle for any challenger who will climb to the top, currently enjoying a staggering fifteen match winning streak, which includes his Undisputed Championship win and total victory over the 128-fighter bracket of Tournament 5!

Cr0w may be one of the most successful fighters in competition, but it's worth remember that his last defeat came during the first Tower of Power at Supercard 5! Positioned as #3, it was there Cr0w lost a +13 demolition to eventual winner and Champion, Ratt! Cr0w can have no shortage of confidence right now, but could the weight of history play a part in ending his record setting reign?...

#1 Genku (21-10-0) [Previous Rank: #1]
During the first Tower of Power; Genku found himself an undead revenant minion representing Sinvida Von Grimm and the Barons of Lord Mislukking. It was in this role that he defeated Tower winner and arch-rival, Ratt, in an extra stage of Tower competition. With a perfect record in the past, Genku arrives in the Tower-proper with the right kind of experience to continue his impressive run toward the top!

It was at Supercard 9 that Genku beat out eleven other fighters in a Battle Royal designed to name a #1 Contender for August. Positioned in the top spot of the contender's portion of the Tower of Power ladder, Genku will have the luxury of a Championship double-chance, confident in the fact that he will be guaranteed amatch with whoever wins the final bout against Cr0w, at the August 14 blockbuster event, Supercard 11: All-Star Summer Showdown! That confidence will no doubt be tested by the people Genku climbed over, however -- such as his Battle Royal final opponent, Mimik!

#2 Mimik (16-9-0) [Previous Rank: #2]
Beginning with a surprise return at the special The Rapture and The Madness event -- Mimik has been on a whirlwind run since his return from a brief period in the afterrealm! He narrowly missed out on a opportunity to take the Undisputed Championship early in Cr0w's run, but has remained in the hunt, again experiencing a brush with greatness when he was the final man eliminated in the Supercard 9 Battle Royal, eventually won by Genku!

Mimik knows all about competing under Tower of Power conditions! At Supercard 5, he dominated the field from #7, a roadblock for any upstart challengers, and the demise of three of the top contenders! It was here that Mimik confirmed his arrival in the top ranks of The Great Arena league, but it may play on his mind that, despite a career-making performance, he couldn't best Cr0w in the original.

#3 The_Purple_Bunny (17-7-0) [Previous Rank: #9]
He returned from beyond with a single goal in mind, but The_Purple_Bunny will have to wait until Supercard 11: All-Star Summer Showdown to finally exact revenge against the man who sent him to the afterlife -- Shoe -- who was also the one who ended an impressive run as challenger in the first Tower of Power!

TPB's reviled nemesis has faded into the background after a string of defeats, inadvertently opening the distracted doors of opportunity to The_Purple_Bunny, including his recent impressive victory in Tournament 7: The Next Phase! Winning The Next Phase perfectly poised TPB to capitalize on his sudden rise, but it's worth remembering that Tournament 7 was open exclusively to those fighters deemed just outside the old guard of the top tier. The most dangerous competitors in Tower of Power II will be uncharted territory for TPB -- will he be ready for them?

#4 Hokey (27-10-0) [Previous Rank: #3]
One-half of the Duo Division Champions, Hokey enjoyed a customary deep run into the field of the recent sixty-four fighter Tournament 7 bracket, only to be pipped in the Semi Final! A feature of the unofficial top ten rankings for quite some time, Hokey suffered instant defeat at Supercard 5, #5 in the original Tower of Power. This time, he gets an extra foot up, starting closer to the Championship end of the ladder -- a chance to springboard to the first ever double-title reign? Or just a steeper hill to climb without a run up?...

#5 Ninja_Mime (21-10-0) [Previous Rank: #4]
The second half of the Duo Division Champions; Ninja_Mime was eliminated in the First Round of Tournament 7, a victim of a stunning twist of fate in the random draw, which pitted him against reigning partner, Hokey! It will be a case of deja vu should Ninja_Mime win his first Tower of Power encounter, once again forced to battle his Duo partner in the quest for solo greatness!

#6 ElJobber (15-9-0) [Previous Rank: #5]
The last of Mimik's victims in the original Tower of Power (#4); ElJobber will have even steeper odds to overcome when he returned to Championship contention at Supercard 10! Defeated by Cr0w at Supercard 9, ElJobber has tumbled harshly down the ranks, unable to capitalize on his second bite at the Undisputed Championship, and swallowed up by the successes of Tournament 7 and the Duo Division.

Once upon a time, ElJobber held a win over Cr0w, but the record has been tipped well in favour of the reigning Champion, leaving the one-time 'conscience of The Great Arena' with only his own grit and determination to call upon. He certainly won't be able to count on the fans amidst accusations he was responsible for an underhanded attack on Tyrant-Cenobite, back in April!

#7 Ratt (27-14-0) [Previous Rank: #6]
"The Iron Man" experienced a hiccup at Supercard 9 when he suffered a shock defeat to Great Arena big mouth, STEROLIZER! He recovered big time with a MAX damage decimation over JRF at Pre-Show 10, and will look to resume his never say die reputation when he faces the looming ladder of the Tower of Power II!

Supercard 5 famously saw Ratt rise to the occasion from the cushy #1 spot, earning him his first Undisputed Championship reign! It was at the same event that Ratt went down on record as the last man to beat Cr0w, and while he may have come up short at Supercard 8 after losing the belt to Cr0w, that important win will remain in the mind of this fan-favourite!

#8 TonyTheTiger (17-14-0) [Previous Rank: Not Ranked]
TonyTheTiger has made a reputation for himself as a scheming opportunist, but The Great Arena witnessed something very different during Tournament 7, a coming of age that saw TonyTheTiger assume favourite status throughout the sixty-four fighter bracket. He came up short as Semi Finalist, but looks well prepared to face the hard slog of his entry at #8 in Tower of Power II!

Tony has a fantastic record in Tower of Power conditions, having fought his way to #7 from a challenger spot at Supercard 5! A similar run could position him right where he wants to be, on the cusp of a long sought reign as Undisputed Champion!

#9 Pink_Ranger (13-12-0) [Previous Rank: #7]
Success has come hard and fast for Pink_Ranger -- the power player of a partnership with Ghostdragon that briefly saw the pair hold the recently launched Duo Division Championships via a win in Tournament 6! PR has been successful in vanquishing her arch-enemies, but faces a daunting task as she enters Tower of Power II from the unenviable penultimate rung! With such steep odds at hand, some may speculate that PR will take on an enforcers role, reprising her Team Cr0w association with the reigning Undisputed Champion! Facing the potential brunt of the Challenger 7 -- Pink_Ranger has nothing to lose and everything to fight for, a dangerous debuting competitor in this Tower of Power sequel!

#10 Toryn (15-12-0) [Previous Rank: #8]
He entered the first Tower of Power as Undisputed Champion -- this time, he begins at the opposite end! It will take a Herculean effort for Toryn to climb back to the top of the ranks that he has so often remained a steady part of! As tenth-man, Toryn has the added obstacle of repelling the forces of the eager Challenger 7 -- a role that could prove a momentum building blessing, or a punishing exercise in defeat! With a promising appearance in the Supercard 9 Battle Royal that earned Genku his double-chance opportunity; Toryn is well prepared for the endurance round that waits!

The Challenger 7: unixpunk, Artanix, DeathScepter, DaMo, Ghostdragon, Ken, STEROLIZER
Having qualified through gruelling three-way battles at Pre-Show 10 [and a wildcard granted to STEROLIZER], the Challenger 7 will be well prepared to take on this rare opportunity! Requiring a mammoth eleven victories to become Undisputed Champion, it is a monumental task that awaits each fighter to challenge the Tower of Power!

Ken leads the pack in his second outing as one of the Challenger 7, reprising the role that took him three fights into the original incarnation, at Supercard 5! He'll be calling upon that experience as he and the other fringe contenders take full opportunity of the ultimate exercise in earning the title!

Whoever emerges from the final match with Cr0w will be Undisputed Champion and go on to face Genku in a defense at what is shaping up to be perhaps the biggest event in The Great Arena's short history -- Supercard 11: All-Star Summer Showdown! It all goes down August 14, with plenty of action to come before then! Stay tuned as a jam packed July officially closes with Supercard 10: Tower of Power II!

Pre-Show 10: Tower II Qualification!

July 24, 2011 -- Hot on the heels of a thrilling Tournament 7 Grand Final, competition returns to The Great Arena in this jam-packed July for the continuation of the Next Phase initiative! In April it was a revolution the likes of which has never been seen, crowning a new Undisputed Champion at its conclusion. It was Supercard 5: The Tower of Power -- and it's coming back!

August 31 marks Supercard 10: Tower of Power II, where the unofficial top ten contenders to the Undisputed Championship will all receive a shot at the ultimate prize! Cr0w sits perched atop the Tower, waiting as the ten contenders eliminate each other until there is only one final contender -- but before that happens, the entire Tower must repell the non-elimination forces of the Challenger 7!

After a shock win over Ratt at Supercard 9; STEROLIZER has been granted automatic qualification into the Challenger 7, giving him the opportunity to back-up his frequent claims that he is more worthy of contender status than some of the most celebrated fighters in The Great Arena! Who he'll be facing will be announced tomorrow when the Tower of Power top ten are officially unveiled!

The remaining roster of Challenger 7 competitors will be decided in a series of three-way battles featuring the cream of The Next Phase crop! Also in competition; "Iron Man" Ratt attempts to right the wrongs of his shocking defeat at Supercard 9 with a classic Open Challenge main event, where he will answer any competitor brave enough to fight! All this and more as we countdown to August 31!

10. Ratt d. JRF in a +30 open challenge annihilation!
Having suffered a shock loss to STEROLIZER at Supercard 9, Ratt was keen to return to Pre-Show to issue an open challenge to any competitor in The Great Arena! It was fitting that JRF would be the man to answer the call having just walked the path of STEROLIZER at Pre-Show 9 in the 'Battle for the Bottom' rankings clash with SlumDunk!

Apparently encouraged by STEROLIZER's recent rise to multiple-victories, JRF sought to challenge a Ratt who was down on his luck -- big mistake! "The Iron Man" Ratt was back in fine form, preparing for his inevitable role in the Tower of Power with a staggetring MAX damage +30 annihilation of the recent rankings riser! JRF was lucky to be alive after suffering one of the most devastating defeats The Great Arena has ever seen! The ultimate victory sends an intimidating message to the competitors who will make up the Tower of Power top ten! Who could forget that it was the original Tower of Power at Supercard 5 that saw Ratt claim his first reign as Undisputed Champion!

9. Ken d. Chiefin & Jammer2Omega to qualify.
With six men inducted into the Challenger 7 -- it was a compelling final match-up as three very distinct, very associated, very motivated rivals clashed! Ken has struggled in separate outings against both his opponents, succumbing to Jammer2Omega at Supercard 9, and "The Upset Machine" Chiefin at Supercard 8 in a string of hot-and-cold appearances!

J2O and Chiefin featured prominently as deep as the Third Round of Tournament 7 -- primary proponents of the Next Phase phenomenon. Despite looking like the favourite on paper, Jammer2Omega succumbed to a Chiefin upset early in the bout, as Ken felt out his position with a return to authority! Ken was still hot as he took the fight to the "Upset Machine," this time impervious to the bizarre x-factor that delivers Chiefin to his shock victories! The win is a major return to form for Ken, delivering him to a second run at the Tower of Power potential -- reprising his Supercard 5 role as head of the Challengers! An amazing result!

8. Ghostdragon d. Porygonix & Shoe to qualify.
He may have been the only man to ever face the Undisputed Champion in the past, but it was Shoe who was utterly wiped out in a +4 decimation at the beginning of this bout! Ghostdragon rocked The Great Arena with his devastating assault on the reviled competitor -- a man who is being hunted by the resurrected fighter he killed, The_Purple_Bunny! With Shoe out of the way, it effectively became a standard one on one clash, Porygonix providing a compelling opponent for the often 'underrated' former-Duo Division Champion!

Porygonix looked under par as he took the fight to Ghostdragon, overconfident and overwhelmed by an opponent with a lot to prove! Ghostdragon rallied to not only earn Challenger 7 status, but also strike out against the belief that he simply cannot compete under high stakes conditions. Successful in the three-way qualification, GD now advances to the Tower of Power, where he will face the ultimate high stakes test -- with the Undisputed Champion waiting!

7. DaMo d. Chromatose & CaTigeReptile to qualify.
Three fighters who've all flirted with top ten contention -- DaMo, Chromatose and CaTigeReptile made for a compelling three-way match-up, no single fighter a clear favourite! Indeed, the trio locked up well, with recent high flyer, CTR showing the first signs of fatigue in a continuation of her fade-out since besting Pink_Ranger at Supercard 7. Chromatose asserted himself over the femme fatale, but was blindsided by a DaMo who looked very keen to join his Duo Division partner in the final stakes of the Challenger 7 -- a whirlwind success over two valiant opponents!

6. DeathScepter d. DECEPTION & m0s to qualify.
Successful Duo Division contenders returned to their solo roots in another clash featuring stars of the tandem! DeathScepter and DECEPTION are part of two of the most successful combinations lurking in the contender stakes -- tough competition for m0s, whose recent record has seen a decline from his earlier successes as an upstart contender!

DeathScepter looked to make it a clean sweep as he unleashed a wild and unpredictable flurry against his two opponents! DECEPTION showed strong potential in the early goings as m0s absorbed the brunt on a +2 impact, but DECEPTION could not escape unscathed, another clean sweep as DeathScepter arrived in the Challenger 7 with convincing certainty!

5. Artanix d. SmokeRulz & Scott-Howell to qualify.
Experiencing new highs in his Great Arena career -- Artanix looked to follow a shock Semi Final berth in Tournament 7 with entry into the Tower of Power Challenger 7! Like the first qualifier; Duo rivals squared off, this time Artanix and Scott-Howell, with three-way specialist SmokeRulz sandwiched in between -- a man with three-way victories at Pre-Show 9 and The Rapture & the Madness!

SmokeRulz looked strong in the early goings, allowing Artanix to take the fight to Scott-Howell with devastating results! Like his partner before him, Howell faded early as Artanix ran wild with momentum, turning his sights on SmokeRulz! It was a come from behind victory as Art fought hard to continue his path to success -- the second man to qualify against the odds for the Tower of Power Challenger 7!

4. unixpunk d. SubMan799 & Murdoink to qualify.
In the first of six three-way Tower of Power qualification matches, it was a curious mix of the unexpected and the rarely seen. SubMan799 and Murdoink had eyes for each other based on their rivalry in the Duo Division -- but it was unixpunk who took the fight by the horns! The Duo stars were ill prepared for the assault, but fought valiantly to repel a unixpunk who showed the kind of motivation that made him a star during January's Supercard 1: Battle Royale 2011! It was by the narrowest of margins that unixpunk was able to defeat his opponents -- a surprise first-man declared in the wake of Tournament 7's Next Phase!

3. Mark & Leroy d. Bofh & Dolce in a close encounter.
With the memory of the Championship crowning Tournament 6 still fresh in memory, the Duo Division remains a hotbed of activity from top to bottom as the ranks scramble to make their case for gold! Bofh & Dolce have tasted glory, but match-up well with Great Arena relative newcomers, Mark & Leroy.

Indeed, it was a close fought encounter as the two teams fought for the all-important win! The margin for victory was small, but clear in declaring Mark & Leroy winners! An important win for the fledgling competitors!

2. Randomini d. plfx in a narrow fought win!
With victories over Simon, rxvt and Mandijadeee -- plfx has been fast presenting himself as one of the fighters to watch in The Great Arena! With only a single loss on his record, Randomini seemed to be a sure thing for plfx in his undefeated march, but alas, the unknown proved to be the fly in plfx' ointment. Randomini evens up a young record, proof that nothing is ever a certainty in The Great Arena!

1. bfk d. EasterBunny in a close battle.
Competition kicked off with the exhibition return of two of the newer fighters in The Great Arena. More "rookie" than "Next Phase," bfk looked surprisingly strong against the ever so slightly more experienced EasterBunny! Despite fighting out of season, the Bunny was competitive, but bfk proved tough enough to go the distance, picking up a valuable second victory!

The Challenger 7 are named: Ken, Ghostdragon, DaMo, DeathScepter, Artanix, unixpunk and STEROLIZER will be the frontline assault when Supercard 10: Tower of Power II (August 31) gives them the chance to scale the top ten contenders with the Undisputed Champion waiting to answer their challenge!

Who will make up this treacherous ladder of ultimate opportunity?
It's no coincidence that the likes of Ratt, The_Purple_Bunny, ElJobber, Hokey & Ninja_Mime, and Pink_Ranger weren't selected for qualification! Stay tuned tomorrow for the official unveiling of the ten men who will become The Tower of Power II!

Tournament 7: The Next Phase - The Finals!

To date it has been an elite few who contend the glory of tournament victory! Tournament 5 saw Cr0w achieve the rare feat of winning a second Tournament, launching him into a run as Undisputed Champion that has rewritten every record!

Tournament 7: The Next Phase invites a new era upon The Great Arena as sixty-four of the brightest up and coming competitors do battle with the hopes of joining the upper ranks! A random draw without seeds has delivered a Semi Final full of power players and intriguing interlopers and with Supercard 10: Tower of Power II right around the corner, they all vie for the opportunity to join the ladder that will compete for the Undisputed Championship!

Hokey, TonyTheTiger, The_Purple_Bunny, and Artanix look to join the ranks of Pink_Ranger & Ghostdragon, Shoe, Mimik, Genku and Cr0w -- the next phase of tournament champions in The Great Arena!

Semi Final Results:
1. TonyTheTiger defeated Hokey in a close fought match!
By and large he set the pace during Tournament 7, but TonyTheTiger had a convenient draw in his charge toward the Next Phase finals, including a devastating +8 decimation of odds deficient Swisher! With tournament supersticion fondly regard Hokey as the man to beat in a rise to tournament supremacy, it made perfect sense that the dominant favourite would meet the fan favourite in an exciting test of wills! Hokey had the more convincing pedigree of defeating his Duo Division Championship partner, Ninja_Mime, in a high stakes First Round encounter, with rival and former-Duo champ, Pink_Ranger, going down in kind.

Fatigue had a small role to play in this blockbuster encounter, effecting both men tremendously as they threw down in one of the biggest fights of the tournament! It was the type of fight that only a doyen of technical competition could appreciate, a complex close quarters clash as much about making a mistake as wrestling victory from the opponent. In the end, it was TonyTheTiger who found the vital opportunity, a decidedly modest win, in execution, for a fighter who decimated the lower ranks in the earlier rounds. The win over Hokey, of course, made TonyTheTiger instant favourite for the Grand Final, progressing with the hopes of being the fifth tournament winner to defeat Hokey before claiming ultimate glory!

2. The_Purple_Bunny defeated Artanix in a +5 decimation!
The Next Phase was designed to deliver opportunity to the next wave of competitors in The Great Arena, but few could have predicted it would be Artanix that seized that opportunity, rising over a very solid field of m0s, SubMan799, and Jammer2Omega! The_Purple_Bunny played much more confidently, defeating "Upset Machine" Chiefin to echo TonyTheTiger at every step as a looming challenge for any finalist!

Sadly, the Next Phase dream had to end for Artanix as he walked into an opponent who simply had too much momentum backing his return from the afterlife! The_Purple_Bunny sent a daunting message with a +5 impact, a stern warning for the man he has his truly has his sights set on -- Shoe!

To reach this stage, TonyTheTiger had to defeat: xtactics (R1), Swisher (R2), ShingoEX (R3), Ghostdragon (QF), Hokey (SF).
To reach this stage, The_Purple_Bunny had to defeat: Buster (R1), SmokeRulz (R2), Chiefin (R3), Chromatose (QF), Artanix (SF).

Tournament 7: The Next Phase Final:
1. The_Purple_Bunny defeated TonyTheTiger
They were two of the most dominant fighters throughout the field of sixty-four -- TonyTheTiger and The_Purple_Bunny have each loitered on the fringe of the top ranking contenders, but here, in The Next Phase final, they stand poised on the edge of glory!

From Round One, it seemed as if The_Purple_Bunny was in quiet competition with TonyTheTiger, responding to his upper bracket results with echoes of the same high impact victories. Semi Final opponents tipped the balance in favour of TonyTheTiger, but that simply wasn't a factor for the man returning from the afterlife! The_Purple_Bunny steamrolled a TonyTheTiger who lifted his game from the Semi Final, but simply could not compete at the level he had earlier in the tournament! The_Purple_Bunny writes his name in history -- winner of Tournament 7: The Next Phase!

Victory in Tournament 7: The Next Phase delivers The_Purple_Bunny into a prime position to contest for the Undisputed Championship and Supercard 10 when the unofficial top ten contenders are stacked in the second incarnation of one of the most compelling directives in The Great Arena -- The Tower of Power! July 24 will decide the Challenger 7 as Supercard 10: Tower of Power II looms at the end of the month, July 31!

TonyTheTiger and the other finalists from Tournament 7 will no doubt feature as they too fight their way toward the ultimate prize in The Great Arena -- a Championship that has currently been held for a record setting three months, across four defenses! The Next Phase begins now!

Tournament 7: The Next Phase - QF!

Quarter Final Results:
1. Hokey defeated Pink_Ranger
It was during Tournament 6 that Pink_Ranger [with Ghostdragon] became the fourth tournament victor to eliminate Hokey on their path to ultimate success! Hokey, along with parter Ninja_Mime, struck back just a single week later, rectifying their upset defeat in a Duo Division Championship rematch at Pre-Show 9!

The pair tangled during the 12-Person Contender Battle Royal at Supercard 9, but it was here, with Tournament 7 glory on the line, that the pair would come face-to-face in a bitter solo rematch! Hokey had to eliminate his partner to progress through the First Round, and it was with a similar competitive determination that he met his rival! As you'd expect, Pink_Ranger came at the fight with everything she had, but it was the tradition of success that would honor Hokey into his fourth Semi Final tournament appearance!

2. TonyTheTiger defeated Ghostdragon in a decimation!
Ghostdragon had long been touted as one of the underrated competitors in The Great Arena, but it wasn't until his tournament success at T6 that the chips of his potential were cashed in! TonyTheTiger has traditionally been a fighter ready to take the shortcut, but throughout Tournament 7 he has established himself as the man to beat, delivering some of the most punishing defeats in previous rounds, with a draw that favoured few of his competitors!

In many ways representing the design of The Next Phase opportunity, the pair collided with devastating force! It is to Ghostdragon's credit that he endured with a minimal +2 impact, shrinking before the decimating powers of TonyTheTiger! It was as if GD was again becoming victim to his own under achieving, a factor that has undermined his career in The Great Arena with frustrating regularity. That said, TonyTheTiger has been the measure throughout Tournament 7, and will no doubt move into the Semi Final with all eyes on him -- with favourite status hinging on a meeting with Hokey!

3. The_Purple_Bunny defeated Chromatose in a decimation!
Much as he had in the Third Round, The_Purple_Bunny looked more than ready to answer TonyTheTiger's success, echoing it with a +2 impact in his decimation over Chromatose! Chromatose has seen some surprising success in tournament conditions in the past, but simply appeared to be no match for the resurrected TPB!

The_Purple_Bunny clearly has his eye on a bitter grudge match against Shoe -- the man who killed him -- but will put that bitter hatred aside as he once again returns from the afterlife with momentum on his side! TPB rode a similar wave of success during the first Tower of Power! With his success in Tournament 7, a reprised role seems assured!

4. Artanix defeated Jammer2Omega in a shock upset!
Having contested victories against some of The Great Arena's most seasoned competitors, Jammer2Omega has in many ways come to represent the pinnacle of what The Next Phase is! Looking for a chance to break through into the top ranks, Tournament 7 was his ticket to springboard toward the Undisputed Championship with Tower of Power II right around the corner! He may have endured against the likes of Toryn and even defeated Ken -- but apparently J2O never counted no Artanix!

Best known for mixed results as one-half of a tandem team with foahchon -- Artanix' best days seemed to be long behind him. Statistically no match for Jammer2Omega, it was to the shock of everyone in The Great Arena that Artanix stood tall against the flagging would-be contender! Already impressing with his ability to break into the Quarter Finals, Artanix now progresses to the Semi Final with dark horse status reminiscent of his early days backing him! Artanix defeats the face of the Next Phase, only to live up to the promise it represents!

The Next Phase is nearly completed and it will be a compelling rush to the finish as eight become four and four become two on the final day of competition! TonyTheTiger has been the most dominating force throughout the tour, but will he have the might to overcome the experience advantage of four-time tournament finalist, Hokey? The_Purple_Bunny has been riding the wave of a return to life, but can he stand tall against the unknown quantity of Artanix? Revenge against his killer will have to wait as TPB attempts to once again match his tour rival, on the way to the Semi Final, but Artanix will be more than happy to create another upset!

Semi-Final Bracket Match Preview:
1. Hokey versus TonyTheTiger
It'll be a clash of the highly regarded and the highly motivated when Hokey arrives in his fourth Tournament Semi Final to face T7 pace maker, TonyTheTiger! Hokey has had a particularly tough draw, while TTT enjoys the benefits of a much less dangerous run, but they say in The Great Arena that a win over Hokey is a win in the Tournament Final! Will the myth play out, or is Hokey ready to do some serious busting to finally claim his first Tournament victory?

2. The_Purple_Bunny versus Artanix
The_Purple_Bunny already faced down "The Upset Machine" Chiefin in the Third Round, but it'll be a trip to the unknown all over again when he faces Artanix in the challenger's first tournament Semi Final! Can Artanix live the Next Phase dream, or will it be The_Purple_Bunny who makes a date with his rival before Tower of Power II?

Tournament 7: The Next Phase - Round 3!

The Round of Sixteen left very few questions unanswered as the power players of Tournament 7 asserted themselves over the remaining hopefuls! While the tour offers opportunity to the so-called "Next Phase" of competitors, it was clear that experience had a lot to play in the formation of the first round of Finals!

In another exciting Next Phase clash, Jammer2Omega secured a convincing victory, beating out Tower of Power original, Porygonix! Pory has become the spiritual representative of Great Arena legend, Kron, who met a surprising end prior to his scheduled appearance at Supercard 9. No doubt he will continue his return to the top ranks, despite the loss!

The_Purple_Bunny restored the balance of expectations, delivering the round's biggest impact in a +4 decimation of the Next Phase "Upset Machine," Chiefin! The beating went one better than TonyTheTiger's +3 put down of ShingoEX, setting up something of an unspoken rivalry between the two competitors! TonyTheTiger may be fast looking like the man to beat, but it's clear he'll have competition if TPB can make it to the Final battle!

As the Finals take shape, Hokey continues to cast a shadow over the tournament, comfortable in his victory over unixpunk. With four former-champions besting Hokey in the final stages of previous tournaments, there is an unwritten legend that says a tournament winner must first defeat Hokey! Pink_Ranger will be the next fighter to have an opportunity, thanks to her win over fan-favourite upstart, foahchon. Pink_Ranger (and Ghostdragon) was one of the pair to last eliminate Hokey during the Tournament 6: Duo Division Championship final.

Artanix fared better than his Duo Division partner, continuing his surprising run of success with an impressive win over SubMan799! With Jammer2Omega waiting for him in the first round of finals, it'll be a big ask to see Art continue the run, but you can be sure he'll give it his all!

Round 3 Results:
1. Hokey d. unixpunk in a comprehensive result.
2. Pink_Ranger d. foahchon in a comprehensive result.
3. TonyTheTiger d. ShingoEX in a +3 decimation!
4. Ghostdragon d. GreenLantern in a comprehensive result.

6. The_Purple_Bunny d. Chiefin in a +4 decimation!
7. Artanix d. SubMan799 in a surprise win!
8. Jammer2Omega d. Porygonix in a comprehensive result!

The stage is set as Tournament 7: The Next Phase enters the Quarter Finals! Four blockbuster encounters await eight competitors, each with the opportunity to write their name into the pages of history! Only an elite few make it to the Grand Final fight of a tournament -- which two will it be? Stay tuned!

1. Hokey versus Pink_Ranger
2. TonyTheTiger versus Ghostdragon

Tournament 7: The Next Phase - Round 2!

The Second Round and "The Next Phase" was truly living up to its design! Thirty-two competitors become sixteen as the next wave of competitors duke it out for the opportunity to join the top ranks, eliminating their way toward a spot in the Tower of Power II Championship chasing ladder!

Fan-favourite Duo Division partners foahchon and Artanix were among the winners in the Second Round, taking full advantage of a randomly drawn field of promising competitors. Alas; their welcome success came at the expense of one of the hard working fighters who also would've liked to go far, a Tower of Power original, m0s! JRF's quest to rise through the ranks -- begun with a narrow win in the 'Battle of the Bottom' at Pre-Show 9 -- also came to an end.

TonyTheTiger followed his convincing performance in the First Round with a devastating +8 decimation of Swisher, asserting him as one of the clear favourites to take the Tournament! Ghostdragon was the other heavy hitter, delivering on his much talked about promise with a +3 crushing of Tyrant-Cenobite, who will likely have to earn Challenger 7 status for Tower of Power II if he's to meet the man who attacked him in April, ElJobber!

In what might've been the match of the round, Jammer2Omega scored another valuable win, defeating fan-favourite DECEPTION in a blockbuster bout to close out the day. Fellow Next Phase figurehead, Chiefin, also enjoyed the warmth of another unlikely success, victorious over Baraka_MK -- one of many fighters whose defeat defies expectation! Chiefin's reputation as an upset machine has claimed the likes of Ken and m0s in the past, and just might carry him to a shocking T7 victory if he keeps it up!

Hokey will no doubt be eyeing off any would-be tournament upstart, convincing in his victory over Casselman. With unixpunk winning his way into the Third Round, the odds are mounting for another solid performance from Hokey -- a four-time tournament finalist!

The_Purple_Bunny, SubMan799, Porygonix, and Chromatose also secured their continuation into the subsequent round.

Round 2 Results:
1. unixpunk d. Politics in a close battle.
2. Hokey d. Casselman in a solid result.

15. Porygonix d. GuiltyByDesign in a comprehensive win.
16. Jammer2Omega d. DECEPTION in a comprehensive result!

The plot thickens as Tournament 7 welcomes the round of sixteen!
It'll be a fitting Next Phase main event when Porygonix and Jammer2Omega meet up in one of the most compelling match-ups of the tour! The_Purple_Bunny will have his work cut out for him when he ventures into the unknown against Chiefin -- the upset machine with the capacity to defy belief! foahchon and Artanix will be hoping to defy belief as they fight their way toward a new phase of success -- while tournament favourites, Hokey and TonyTheTiger look forward to what seem to be a couple of sure-things!

Tournament 7: The Next Phase - Round 1!

Tournament 7: The Next Phase kicked off with a bang as a field of sixty-four fighters battled it out for the opportunity to join the top ranks of the seasoned elite! It was to be a particularly tense round as fights were decided by the narrowest of margins, even matched challengers bolstered by their deep determination to take advantage of this rare opportunity!

In a completely random draw without seeds, the two biggest names of The Next Phase tournament were pitted against each other in a shocking twist of fate! In a blockbuster main event, Hokey was able to fend off the competitive advance of his Duo Division Champion partner, Ninja_Mime, keeping alive a fond tradition of The Great Arena that has seen four previous Tournament winners defeat Hokey before their victory. Will this finally be Hokey's time to shine, or is he the key to victory for one of the others in a very strong field?

Back amongst the living, The_Purple_Bunny has had to delay his quest for revenge against Shoe, but sent a booming message to his arcdh-nemesis, delivering a +3 impact in the biggest defeat of the round against Buster! TonyTheTiger wasn't as harsh in his beat down of xtactics, but was the only fighter to exert total domination over his opponent! They were joined by the likes of Pink_Ranger, Ghostdragon, Porygonix and Baraka_MK, who also secured confident wins over First Round opponents!

Ken's inconsistency continued into T7 as he suffered defeat at the hands of Tyrant-Cenobite, a harsh reminder that he remains on the periphery of contention, despite coming close in the past. CaTigeReptile was similarly unlucky in her clash with Casselman, bowing out as one of the promising faces of the "Next Phase." Her posterboy counterpart, Jammer2Omega, fared much better in a solid performance against T1 veteran, Shadaloo. DECEPTION, m0s, Chiefin, JRF, and STEROLIZER were also successful, advancing to the Second Round.

Round 1 Results:
1. unixpunk d. ThePredator151 in a close fight.

The Second Round serves up some scintillating match-ups as The Next Phase continues! All eyes will be on Hokey as he continues his campaign to win his first tournament, facing off against First Round upstart and Duo Division rival, Casselman! The Duo Division will be a major feature when Pink_Ranger faces off against Scott-Howell in singles competition; while PR's former partner, Ghostdragon, faces the controversial Tyrant-Cenobite! HYPE: The Next Phase is Coming!

In the history of The Great Arena, only an elite few have risen to the challenge of the elimination tournament! With Tournament 5, Cr0w became the first competitor to succeed over a second titanic bracket, beginning his reign as a record setting Undisputed Champion! Now, Tournament 7 begins a New Phase in competition!

The league's most seasoned, upper level competitors will be put on the sidelines this time, offering a stellar opportunity to the next phase of Great Arena competition! With Supercard 10: Tower of Power II right around the corner, this all important sixty-four fighter bracket will be the perfect launching pad for the next phase, sure to guarantee the winner a promising spot in the unofficial contender ranks and the Tower's Championship hunting ladder!

The sixty-four fighter bracket was determined by completely random draw, offering maximum equal chance in a field with no seeded favourites! That fact will present itself boldly in the fourth fight of Round One when reigning Duo Division Champions, Hokey and Ninja_Mime meet for the first time in a battle that will surely decide one of the top contenders to take it out!

Supercard 9: Royal Roulette!

July 17, 2011 -- Every battle is its own gamble! On any given day, a warrior can succumb to the inevitable, for no man lives forever! In recent months, contenders have risen and fallen, but one man has stood steadfast, determined to challenge immortality like never before.

Cr0w is the Undisputed Champion -- a fighter who has relinquished his hold on The Great Arena itself, turning his powers toward the pages of history. Never before has there been a Champion who has defended the title four times, reigning over three entire months! Never before has there been a Champion who bested all who challenged him, possessing the grandest prize of them all for a cumulative one hundred days! If Cr0w proves victorious once again, he will be the first one to defy these impossible expectations, and hit the jackpot on one very big gamble!

ElJobber is one of thirteen fighters who will roll the dice for a shot at glory this day. One of the most enduring and respected figures in The Great Arena, he holds a long forgotten victory over this Champion! He may have failed in his only previous attempt at the Undisputed Championship, at Supercard 4, but has tackled every demon head-on and defeated them accordingly. ElJobber is not immortal, but if his gambit pays off, he will join Cr0w in history.

Twelve competitors will be waiting to take ElJobber or Cr0w's place! Genku, Mimik, Shoe, Toryn, m0s, Hokey, Ninja_Mime, Ghostdragon, Pink_Ranger, CaTigeReptile, Chiefin and a final unknown competitor will spin the wheel in a Battle Royal that will name a number one contender.

Like flickering black and red squares -- champion, challenger, and contender blur together as the wheel of fate spins ever faster. Who will continue to reap the rewards of their gamble of life and death? Who will emerge victorious in this game of Royal Roulette?

12. Cr0w (c) d. ElJobber in a Championship defense!
As one of the few to hold a victory over Cr0w, the challenger may have had a slight psychological edge from their 1-1 history. Despite owning that win from Supercard 3, ElJobber still faced the daunting claim of a fourteen-match winning streak that has propelled Cr0w into the record books as the longest reigning Undisputed Champion -- eighty-one days and counting from three defenses! Whether he knew it or not, ElJobber was also accused of an act most unsavory by Tyrant-Cenobite -- a claim that would threaten to taint any success at Supercard 9!

ElJobber's ability to rise to the challenge of the top tier has earned him the status of 'conscience' to The Great Arena, versus Ratt's tried and true 'heart'. Certainly, he was able to threaten accountability to a Champion who has remained confident as the platinum standard of competition! Never the less, that platinum standard would remain undisturbed, ElJobber suffering the same fate as Ratt in a high level challenge that saw Cr0w remain truly Undisputed as Champion!

Cr0w adds an incredible fourth defense to his run as Undisputed Champion, but now faces perhaps the biggest challenge of his reign! Genku will have two opportunities to snatch the title as Supercard 10: Tower of Power II is announced for July 31! The event will grant the unofficial top ten rankins equal opportunity to battle to the top of the ladder, where Cr0w will wait to defend the title to the best! Then, August 14, Genku gets a one-on-one shot against the Champ at Supercard 11: All-Star Summer Showdown! A massive Championship schedule for a Champion whose reign is equally big!

11. Genku (#10) d. Mimik (#8) to win Battle Royal!
With a guaranteed one-on-one shot at the Undisputed Championship in August -- twelve of The Great Arena's brightest entered the contender scramble with plenty to fight for! Extra-Arena activity meant it was a very satisfying elimination when Toryn sent Shoe packing just ten seconds after Shoe's entrance! The abrupt beginning had everyone in the Arena talking as Toryn enjoyed eighty seconds of preparation time -- but the significance of Shoe's early exit would not be felt until much later in the rumble!

Chiefin (#2) did well to endure against Toryn's best blows, but proved his freak fighting ability has its limits, the second out of the match as Pink_Ranger (#3) made her entrance. The Duo Division would feature heavily as Ninja_Mime (#5) and Hokey (#6) entered the fray early, even indulging in a little inter-champion tustle of their own with a shot at the Undisputed Championship too tantalizing to deny! It was a long fourteen minutes before a third man would exit, m0s unlucky against Ghostdragon (#6)!

Nine fighters duked it out for the right to be #1 contender when the unannounced twelfth man made an appropriately dramatic entrance as #12! Back from the afterlife for a second time, The_Purple_Bunny would have to wait for payback against the man who killed him (Shoe), taking his chance at a Championship match as a welcome consolation!

The_Purple_Bunny survived a dense, competitive field to meet the final four of enduring #2 Toryn, and hot favourites, Genku (#10) and Mimik (#8)! Toryn was the first man to faulter, Genku's second elimination from the event! The_Purple_Bunny would be tenth out, claimed by a powerful Mimik who enjoyed a total four eliminations! It truly seemed as if the momentum was with Mimik, but Genku was able to battle his way into a commanding position, absorbing Mimik's final blows to become the official #1 contender for August!

10. SubMan799 & Casselman d. Scott-Howell & Murdoink
They may be considered the first true "Duo" of The Great Arena, but the lustre of "Sugar" Scott-Howell & Murdoink's team efforts has begun to wear off in recent months. A shock First Round exit from Tournament 6 has seemingly exposed weaknesses in Howell & Murdoink's power plan: a fact ready to be capitalized upon by a team who has been chasing them for a long time now -- SubMan799 & Casselman!

The tide seemed destined to continue turning as SubMan799 & Casselman put the screws to their long awaited rivals. Despite being a well contested encounter, the battle seems sure to propel the winners toward the Duo Division Championships, while Scott-Howell & Murdoink face new scrutiny and tensions as their win/loss record begins to flatten.

9. STEROLIZER d. Ratt in a shocking close fought result!
Despite wearing a +11 impact at Supercard 8; STEROLIZER has been quick to claim the challenging ranks simply aren't up to snuff as would-be Undisputed Champions! Scoffing Ratt's loss to record setting reigning champion, Cr0w, at SC8, the biggest ego of The Great Arena remains convinced it should be him who is at the top of the fighting table!

By all rights, the challenge should have been a day at the office for Ratt, but even the very best have their off days! It was to the shock and awe of all watching that STEROLIZER stumbled his way into the biggest win of his usually unsuccessful career, capitalizing on a woeful performance by an over confident and ailed Ratt! STEROLIZER's third career win is sure to only fuel his delusions of grandeur, but on record, will always show that he cleanly beat the former Undisputed Champion in a narrow fought win! Shocking!

8. Jammer2Omega d. Ken in a close result!
Fast asserting himself as the face of the "Next Phase" of top challengers; Jammer2Omega had plenty to fight for, but very little pressure riding on his performance against seasoned veteran of The Great Arena, Ken! Ken delivered a convincing Pre-Show 9 victory against DECEPTION, but has shouldered the weight of several losses in recent months, including defeats at the hands of relative newcomer and "Next Phase" fighting prodigy, Chiefin!

J2O experienced the opposite to Ken in his dust-up with Toryn at Pre-Show 9, but still performed like a pro under Supercard conditions! Ken could not be counted out from the scrap that saw the pair meet in high level close quarters combat, but Jammer2Omega had a little extra in his percentages to bring to the battle. It was a fantastic close fought match, but alas, Ken once again walks into the sunset with mixed fortunes. Jammer2Omega, on the other hand, has bright horizons as he continues his "Next Phase" quest to usher in a new era in the fighting ranks!

7. DeathScepter & DaMo d. DECEPTION & Onryo in a comprehensive duo win.
Representing the upper echelon of Duo Division competition, DeathScepter & DaMo have been the rising upstarts, capping off their impressive performances with a Semi Final berth in the Championship crowning Tournament 6! Despite an impressive win/loss history, DECEPTION & Onryo were one of the early exits, and keen to reassert themselves against their slightly less accomplished, but bouyant competition!

The down-on-their-luck duo of DECEPTION & Onryo would have to delay designs to take the Championships, comprehensively done away with by the bizarre and unpredictable duo of DeathScepter & DaMo! Despite falling short during Tournament 6 against eventual winners (and short-lived champions), Pink_Ranger & Ghostdragon -- DeathScepter & DaMo must be considered legitimate contenders for a shot at the gold!

6. Kairyu d. Shizuma in a close fought battle.
Shizuma fared considerably better than Kairyu in the all-woman Supercard 7 Battle Royal just two months ago. Despite this, it was an evenly matched pair to face-off in this intriguing encounter. Both possessing a certain mystique that has made them near cult figures in The Great Arena, they fought well with no clear outcome guaranteed. It was, however, to be Kairyu who battled out of the close encounter to gain a valuable victory!

5. TonyTheTiger d. Tyrant-Cenobite in +8 decimation!
It was back in April that Tyrant-Cenobite suffered a surprising attack that took him out of contention for the Supercard 4: Ultimate Grand Prix Battle Royal! He claims he knows who did it, and has even teased that one of the respectable heroes of The Great Arena is actually harboring the assault as a dark secret -- but refuses to reveal who! Keen to get long overdue answers, TonyTheTiger enters The Great Arena with a simple interrogation plan -- fight to get to the truth!

A staggering +8 achieved the desired result as TonyTheTiger unleashed an utter decimation on his opponent! Considerably worse for wear, Tyrant-Cenobite dropped a bombshell ahead of the main event, revealing ElJobber as the man responsible for the unprompted attack at Supercard 4! What implications lie ahead remain to be seen as ElJobber contends the Undisputed Championship in the same night he is finally exposed!

4. Dolce d. NovaStarr in a near draw grudge bout!
Unsuccessful in a Supercard 8 tandem effort to gain a grudge win over Dolce -- NovaStarr returned to The Great Arena with hopes of exacting a solo win over her rival. The bitter encounter between the two sparked off at Supercard 7 where the ladies of the Arena clashed in an all-out Battle Royal!

In a shockingly close battle, the pair fought to a near stand-still! By every right imaginable the bout should have been called a draw, if not for the grit and deterimation under fire shown by Dolce! Living to fight another day, it seems unlikely kororaa can possibly let this battle go unreprised, a fiery competitor with so much to prove, and a margin that simply doesn't eliminate her from the equation! Another classic blockbuster for the ages!

3. Artanix & foahchon d. Jerrod & MINION
It seemed as if unpredictability would give Jerrod & MINION the edge against their more experienced opponents, Artanix & foahchon. Alas; everything went according to plan for the more seasoned combination, a Duo who have both experienced the edge of oblivion, only to return as one of the darling combos of the burgeoning Duo Division! It was a surprisingly confident Artanix & foahchon who put away their foes, earning a much needed victory in their marathon chase of the Championships!

2. Liam & nif d. Mark & Leroy in a narrow result!
Two of the newest entrants into the booming Duo Division -- the combinations of Liam & nif and Mark & Leroy proposed a far more evenly matched contest than the trial by fire contests they've been inducted through! Indeed, it was a close fought encounter, anyone's to win, right down to the line! In the end, it was Liam & nif who emerged victorious, turning the success tables on their T6 First Round winning counterparts! A great battle!

1. Porygonix d. kororaa in a comprehensive +5 win!
Kron and DigbyRigby had originally been scheduled to meet for the first time at Supercard 9, but events outside The Great Arena brought their fighting lives to a surprising pause during the week. Replacing them would be Porygonix and kororaa -- partners in combat hoping to honor and pay tribute to their fallen allies.

Did it reflect the outcome of the schedule event? We may never know. Porygonix unleashed an attack far more modest than is known of Kron's usual, but was enough to secure a comprehensive win over DigbyRigby's short-lived Duo Division partner, kororaa. Circumstances may have seen one of The Great Arena's most prominent figures fade into the afterlife, but in his place arises Porygonix once again -- a combatant who once showed great promise, again a potential proponent of the next phase!

Cr0w continues to meet every challenge he's confronted with as he charges toward a reign as Undisputed Champion that may never be challenged! ElJobber is far from disgraced in defeat even if Tyrant-Cenobite has other ideas, but must tumble down the unofficial ranks as Genku emerges the new official #1 contender! Championships shape the upper tier more than ever as Hokey & Ninja_Mime emerged from Tournament 6 and Pre-Show 9 with accolades to spare, a partnership fit for two tickets to the top as Duo Division Champions!

Victory in T6 keeps Pink_Ranger in the top stakes, while Ghostdragon loiters just outside the count, lacking the solo success to repel a convincing case made by DeathScepter (and DaMo). The_Purple_Bunny returns from the afterlife looking refreshed, but not nearly as much so as fellow deadite, Mimik, who made his revenge pact a platform for top two status!

DaMo, Jammer2Omega, Ken, DECEPTION and Onryo all cry out for honorable mentions as they clamor just outside the top ten! Opportunities will be abound as various members of The Next Phase get an opportunity to improve their position in an exciting sixty-four person tournament! Tournament 7 will be sure to send a ripple through the unofficial stack before competition is solidifed July 31st in the return of the Tower of Power (last seen deciding a new champion at Supercard 5)!

The Great Arena is heating up as July packs in a whole lot of competition before August blows the top off of the Summer! Sixty-four fighters will line up in single elimination brackets for Tournament 7: The Next Phase -- a bracket that will guarantee a first-time winner from a field of some of the uncrowned brightest of competition! Then, at tournament's conclusion, Pre-Show 10: Tower II Qualification will reshape the unofficial top ten and pit remaining competitors against each other for six available challenger slots!

Pre-Show 10 is July 24 ahead of the return of one of the most compelling Championship situations The Great Arena has ever seen! July 31 will see seven challengers and ten contenders battle it out for the chance to be Undisputed Champion at Supercard 10: Tower of Power II! Cr0w waits at the top of the unofficial ranks as they fend off the Challenger 7, before eliminating each other in a climb for the gold! All this and more -- stay tuned!
