Battle Royale 2011: Qualifier Pre-Show Results

January 30, 2011 -- The Great Arena will play host to what promises to be one of the biggest battles that will ever be seen in #MicksDesk! Battle Royale 2011 will mark the first of Ares Menschlich's regular super-cards, featuring not only an exciting rematch Championship between Cr0w and Kron, but also the first ever forty-man Battle Royale!

The Battle Royale match will feature a random draw of forty men, introduced into the arena one at a time at ninety second intervals. The match will end when only one man is standing, declaring him the winner of Battle Royale 2011, and the #1 contender in waiting for a shot at the Undisputed Championship at a very special ultimate super-card in April!

With championship glory hanging in the balance, it was decided that The Union of The Human League's unofficially ranked contenders should be granted opportunity to guarantee themselves entry into the forty-man draw. Consequently, contenders two through ten were matched up with other hopeful competitors likely to put on a great show!

Battle Royale 2011 Pre-Show Qualifiers:
1. Ratt [#3] defeated DECEPTION in a good match.
In a clash of two of the biggest heroes of The Great Arena, it was babyface versus babyface -- Ratt versus DECEPTION! Cited as a peripheral contender with comparable stats, DECEPTION looked sure to make it a legitimate challenge, but in the end, simply could not deny the red hot Ratt! Having already enjoyed the success of tournament semi-final berths, Ratt now looks ahead to the forty-man battle royale, where luck will play as much a part as skill!

2. ElJobber [#10] defeated TonyTheTiger in a decimation.
Billed as something of a grudge bout, the night's semi-main event saw a rematch between Tournament 2 First Round eliminee, El Jobber, and the man responsible for that shocking upset, TonyTheTiger! El Jobber's championship hopes weren't going to be dashed before they begun this time, however. TonyTheTiger was by no means in poor form, but El Jobber's longterm dedication meant a one-sided end was all that could wait. His T2 early elimination placed him tenth, but in the eyes of many, El Jobber will enter as a legitimate contender for the win.

3. Porygonix defeated Toryn [#6] in a shocking upset!
After sparking controversy from a marathon slaughter of NPCs and unsuspecting users, Toryn earned significant heel status during Tournament 1. In the build-up to Battle Royale qualifiers, some dared to joke about the chance of an upset -- but no one could've seen it coming! Toryn performed atrociously in his match, well beneath the expectations of his peak, handing Porygonix a narrow win in these qualifying matches. Toryn will no doubt be furious about the result and keen to exact revenge, should he find his way into the Battle Royale by way of random draw!

4. Ninja_Mime [#7] defeated Mimik in a comprehensive win!
In a clash of old allies, the number seven contender looked comfortable in his showdown with Mimik. A bit of surprise package in Tournament 2, Ninja_Mime is a very solid competitor, despite being relatively quiet within !fight circles. As one of only nine guaranteed qualifiers, will Ninja_Mime be able to retain that anonymity, or has he just earned a target on his back?

5. Genku [#2] defeated The_Purple_Bunny in a decimation.
Winner of Tournament 1 and unofficially ranked next-in-line for a shot at the Undisputed Championship, Genku had the weight of expectation to contend with, as well as his opponent. Fortunately for him, The_Purple_Bunny was woeful in his qualifying match, posing little threat to a Genku that could've competed with the best, on this occasion. Genku now enters the forty-man Battle Royale, but with a draw that is completely random, will enjoy no perks as #2 contender!

6. DeathScepter [#5] defeated DaMo in a comprehensive punishment!
A bizarre and elusive figure known for his curious syntax, DeathScepter remains something of an unknown quantity againts all comers. If anyone was going to be on the same page as DS, however, it seemed likely that it would be DaMo. Ultimately, any mutual understanding was moot. DeathScepter absolutely dominated DaMo, delivering a +3 impact -- the highest of the qualifiers!

7. Chromatose [#8] defeated tabmok99 in a narrow win.
It was to be a scrappy battle for seventh qualifying spot when these two incredibly well matched neophytes squared off. tabmok99 was valiant in his efforts, but narrowly failed to take down the unlikely number eight contender. Chromatose now moves forward as a guaranteed participant in the forty-man battle royale, but with quite modest statistics and a minimum of experience, his odds are as long as anyone else's. Of course, in a forty-man battle royale, everyone's odds are wild!

8. Hokey [#4] defeated CaTigeReptile in a comprehensive win.
As understated as they come, Hokey proves to be a curious competitor every time he's booked. The number four contender by no means has the most experience, or the best record away from competition, but when it matters most, he shows an uncanny knack for pulling out the win. It was a comprehensive shutdown of CTR, which sets Hokey up for a golden run in the Battle Royale! Will this lucky sunnuva gun continue his streak with a late, winning draw?

9. Artanix qualified for the Battle Royale by default.
In a shocking twist of fate, #9 ranked contender foahchon was unable to compete in his qualifying match, the victim of #1 contender, Kron! foahchon earned a name for himself in Tournament 2 as an upstart challenger eliminated by Genku in the Third Round, working off the experience of a near-death scrape. Sadly, foahchon's dance with death finally caught up with him in Kron's impromptu attack. It casts an interesting light on the Championship challenger, who had been experiencing a spate of bad luck in the lead-up to his title rematch. Artanix moves into a guaranteed entry in the Battle Royale.

Ratt, ElJobber, Porygonix, Ninja_Mime, Genku, DeathScepter, Chromatose, Hokey, Artanix...

The nine winners now look forward to guaranteed entry into next week's Battle Royale, where they will compete with thirty-one other randomly drawn particpants for the chance to face the Champion in far off April. Qualifying is only a ticket to the dance, however. Each competitor will face the same odds as their randomly selected fellows, potentially coming face to face with the people they had to climb over!

Also next week, do not miss the action
Cr0w will make his first defense as Undisputed Champion when he faces off against the man he beat to win it; Kron! Both men have been training keenly and are sure to put on a blockbuster bout when they meet next week, January 30 in #MicksDesk!
