It was a night of surprises and high stakes as Pre-Show 85: Rage in the Cage set the stage for next week's Tower of Power XVII, and returned the dreaded Steel Cage to The Great Arena! The heinous construct would house but one of several bitter grudge matches appearing on the card.
Ratt should've been fighting for the Duo Division Championship, but the interference of "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet ensured his partner NightHawk was advised against competing. Ratt's fury already delivered MAX Damage a mere week ago during Supercard 84, but he wasn't finished dolling out retribution! Rattamania ran directly into the cold, unforgiving Steel Cage he helped initiate way back at Supercard 76! The return resulted in a equally violent affair, but this time the steel bars resembled the clasp of a trap! LordSkarlet was still smarting from his previous loss, but that desperation seemed to spur something within him. The American Nightmare tasted his own blood, fuel for a vicious assault that assured if he was going down -- Ratt would go with him! Somehow, some way, LordSkarlet emerged from the Steel Cage a victor, if not in the condition of a winner.
A fighter very familiar with the threat of the Steel Cage is VenoMark. As he has every time he's entered the cage, VenoMark claimed victory in the undercard of Rage in the Cage! A comprehensive win over The_Purple_Bunny evens the score after his loss at Supercard 84, and sets him back on a path toward the Undisputed Championship he so intensely covets!
Fourteen teams were in The Great Arena to qualify for Challenger 7 status at the coming Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII, but only six would guarantee their spot! In a stunning turn of events, the very first match of the night also produced no winner: a tied result when Shinnokxz & NosajSamoht went the distance with Kiara85 & Stealth-Ninja! It was a very different case for "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane who definitively qualified for the Challenger 7 when their match ended in a fatal injury! rxvt joins a growing Incapacitated List. Jason_Voorhees & edge got the better of "The British Exit" Ironize & AcidicWonder, continuing The Invasion's dominance after this week's shocking assault on Friday Night Fights!
It wasn't all bad news for The British Exit at Pre-Show 85. Liam & nif faced arch-rivals "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade in one of several battles designed to sure up positions on The Tower of Power itself! They earned a confident win against their Greek rivals. Likewise, CCShadow & Scott-Howell and Mark & Leroy earned hard fought wins that should give them the best chance possible to climb Tower of Power XVII! This year the ultimate challenge will be "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J whose reign will reach 364 days next week -- just 2 days shy of a full year!
TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile will be the #1 team at Tower of Power XVII, perfectly positioned for an epoch-making dethroning thanks to their Supercard 84 contenders match win! It's the same type of fairy tale end Poasty had hoped for when he entered Tournament 75!
Murdoink was the fighter who ended Poasty's dream of reclaiming the Division 2 Championship he technically never lost. The Third Round loss was a bitter disappointment for Poasty, who'd trained to prepare for the tournament. It only got worse when Murdoink arrived at Pre-Show 85 sporting the support of The United! Poasty's bad blood with The United peaked during the September 16th edition of Friday Night Fights, leading to a team-up win at Supercard 83. The mind game appeared to have no effect on Poasty, however, who rushed Murdoink down, earning a very solid victory!
The Division 2 Championship won't fall directly into Poasty's hands just yet, though. Benjamin was also spurned by Tournament 75, and took the opportunity to earn his own solid win against Division 2 Championship V winner Zentile! The Portuguese Pegasus looked solid, but Benjamin was back in scintillating form. The Division 2 situation is getting very interesting -- but next week it will be all about the Duo Division when Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII emanates from The Great Arena! Do not miss it!

Friday Night Fights (October 14, 2016)
Friday Night Fights has played host to many unprecedented scenes throughout 2016 - among them, the early incursions of the force known as The Invasion! The subsequent launch of Monday Night Invasion moved the fight to the start of the week, and for the most part that's where it has stayed, particularly since the take over by DaemonX after Pre-Show 81: The British Exit. Those divisions completely dissolved under the wave of The Invasion that attacked on October 14th!
The Invasion's target was ShawnMichaels and The British Exit, who've been creeping across enemy lines for weeks to initiate a plan to lure Banging away from DaemonX. That goal was immediately announced when a 2-on-1 assault on Ironize opened proceedings. His Brexit "Everlasting Gaze" partner AcidicWonder could do nothing to help - swept up by Invasion Euro warrior Chromatose!
ShawnMichaels avoided the literal invasion of Friday Night Fights, leaving several league regulars to get swept up in the assault. Jammer2Omega & Porygonix were victims of recent recruits "The Fallen" Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION. Division 2 stud G0LD did well to fight off Shaggy2Dope, but xort was no match for Loopster. At this point, ShawnMichaels allowed his Brexit enforcers Liam & nif to enter the fray -- but they were swept up by Invasion rivals Jason_Voorhees & edge!
Just as they did at Night of Champions V, CaTigeReptile & Poasty decided to combine forces to try to push back against The Invasion. They completely overwhelmed MattHardy & Jauger, tactically entered fodder who left DaemonX' heavy hitters for the final battles!
Banging may've been successfully lured to Team Brexit by a case of confused identities, but the hope that he may be returned to The Invasion meant Shen_DuHBK had the duty of subduing him. A hard fought encounter ended with Banging on top, but busied enough to leave the way clear for The Great Genku to deliver his third consecutive MAX Damage beat down to ShawnMichaels' tactical Queen - DemoniaX!
With no pieces left on the board, ShawnMichaels emerged to face DaemonX in a rematch from Supercard 84: Return to the Dark Carnival! This time it was the British General who took control of the battle, fighting to avenge himself against the man who exiled him from The Invasion! The attack on the arena may have been largely successful, but ShawnMichaels ensured The British Exit got the final word as he stood victorious at the FNF close! An unexpected ending to a shocking night!

Tournament 75: Division 2 Championship V - Day 2
Day 1 of Division 2 Championship V had produced a handful of surprises, but they would quickly pale in comparison to the final dash toward the title as unexpected names emerged from the pack!
#1 seed avenger45 started the day off with a big win against Chromatose, but stunned everyone with a Third Round loss to ]{0MBAT! He had done well to eliminate redman in the First Round, the Tournament 69 winner in Round 3, and added Murdoink to the list of major scalps he claimed with a shocking Quarter Final victory!
Murdoink made waves with his Round 3 clash with Poasty! An intense training regiment had been Poasty's preparation for a fairy tale Div.2 Championship comeback. It was a title he was forced to vacate without losing back in July. He fought back from a career threatening injury at All-Star Summer Showdown, but alas, the dream ending at Tournament 75 was not to be!
Instead, the Quarter Finals saw UlcaTron take on a new form as Div.2 contender! The once Corrupt Alliance fighter ended ArtemisFlow's contention run in Round 2, and cut-off Shinnokxz in the Quarters. He ended the amazing run of ][0MBAT in the Semis! An unbelievable performance that brought him within grabbing distance of his first Tournament and Championship wins! An amazing feat - outdone by only one other fighter!
"The Portuguese Pegasus" Zentile began 2016 with a hot Div.2 Championship win that started a title blitz that saw him lose & reclaim it weeks later at Pre-Show 74! He became slightly lost in the formation of a European Union against The British Exit and Invasion. He underwhelmed at the 2016 Summer Olympics as the Union collapse, but found himself motivated in a good draw at Tournament 75! Zentile overcame the statistical problem of MKMaster in the First Round, and met the challenge of "The Rocket" MKR is the Quarters. His biggest test by far was in the Semis, taking out former Div.2 Champion and #2 seed Benjamin! Leaving only the unknown of UlcaTron!...
The final test pushed both opponents to maintain their best. UlcaTron was incredibly consistent throughout, but Zentile was able to peak at the perfect moment! A hard fought battle delivered the Portuguese Pegasus back to a golden opportunity -- and his first Tournament win!
Unfortunately for Zentile, 2014 Division 2 Championship Tournament winner SubScorpTile was the champion he had to face! The newly recruited Invasion weapon earned a surprising three-way defense at Supercard 84: Return to the Dark Carnival, and he took full advantage of being the fresher man in his latest title defense. Zentile couldn't muster any greater defense - a solid win to the champ.

Tournament 75: Division 2 Championship V - Day 1
Since the title's inception in 2013; the Division 2 Championship has been a prestigious benchmark for the striving up-and-comers in The Great Arena! No title has been as aggressively pursued, with the title's anniversary marked by an annual October Tournament that sees the bracket survivor challenging the Division 2 Champion themselves!
Tournament 75: Division 2 Championship V has been broken up into a two-day event, with the First Round gathering 64 of the best Division 2 fighters of 2016! Tournament 69 winner avenger45 enters seeded #1, with former champion Benjamin at #2. Both of these top rated contenders earned comfortable wins into the second round, with Benjamin taking out highly regarded Invasion hopeful and former Div.2 Champion: Shen_DuHBK!
Fellow Invasion fighter Jason_Voorhees emerged as the big winner of Round 1, taking out another Invasion fighter, Rhyno, to the tune of a hard-hitting +10 damage! Other impact players in the rack breaker were ShawnMichaels, and unbeaten former Div.2 Champion Poasty - whose recent training regime has been in preparation of a title winning comeback! +5 damage is sure an encouraging start!
The big eliminations were led by recent title challengers: Politics and Jerrod! Politics had a tough draw against former Div.2 dominator NovaStarr, while Olympic standout Jerrod found himself upset by the stinging attack of Greek Crisis fighter proXade!
There are still plenty of big names alive as the tournament moves ahead: Chromatose, Murdoink, "The Apprentice" DeathScepter, "Portuguese Pegasus" Zentile, Nephrite, UlcaTron, maxilos, G0LD and SubMan799 are all major threats! Will one of them claim the title? The answer will be determined tomorrow as Tournament 75: Division 2 Championship V concludes!

Pre-Show 85 Card Announcement
In two weeks Tower of Power XVII will tempt & test ten of the greatest tandems in the Duo Division with the promise of Championship immortality! This time the prize is more than just gold, with reigning champions "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J closing in on an unprecedented one full year as title holders!
Before the Tower crumbles in on itself -- The Challenger 7 will test its foundations in the hopes of climbing to the top and beating the champs! Pre-Show 85 will decide which teams are granted this special opportunity in a series of qualifying matches - October 16th, 2016!
One team that won't be amongst The Tower is Ratt & NightHawk. A series of calculated attacks made sure NightHawk was advised not to pursue the title hunt. At Supercard 84: Return to the Dark Carnival, Ratt ensured "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet was punished for his role in this unfortunate twist. If LordSkarlet thinks a MAX Damage is the end of Rattamania's fury -- he's sorely mistaken! In the Pre-Show 85 main event, Ratt will channel his rage into the diabolical Steel Cage!
It's a construct Ratt helped initiate way back at Supercard 76, and at Pre-Show 85 it will be the instrument of LordSkarlet's total destruction! A Supercard caliber main event that will take place in The Great Arena -- this weekend! Don't miss it!

Monday Night Invasion (October 10, 2016)
DECEPTION may've had the disappointment of losing the Undisputed Championship at Supercard 84: Return to the Dark Carnival -- but his loss was Monday Night Invasion's gain!
The former champ was freed up to settle some old business, meaning The New Generation were in full force on Monday, backing up "The Hitman" as he finally addressed one of his loudest detractors: Loopster! Loopster recruited MattHardy & Jauger to defend against the man he upset way back at the Mid-Year Grand Slam, but it didn't do any good. A solid win for the trio!
While Loopster recruited from within The Invasion's ranks; Violent`J was looking outside the group for fresh power players. In reigning Division 2 Champion SubScorpTile he found a way to instantly bring gold into the Invasion fold! There was a minor dispute about the "Secret Weapon" moniker in reference to VJ's prior covert status, but SST was happy to join the growing stable just three days before he's required to defend the title against the winner of Tournament 75: Division 2 Championship V!
It's another bold addition to the massive ensemble, just two weeks after he recruited The Fallen with a view to launch LordSkarlet as The Invasion's Undisputed title hope! LordSkarlet was nowhere to be seen on Monday, suffering the after effects of MAX Damage inflicted by Ratt at Supercard 84!
LS's fate was the opposite story for DaemonX' championship project The Great Genku, who dealt MAX Damage to his own Supercard rival (Damo), and followed it up with another crushing victory over The Alliance's would-be superhero: The_Hurricane!
Despite the brutal defeat, The Alliance enjoyed a mostly successful night attacking The Invasion. AlbertBeefcake, Rockey316 and UlcaTron all earned solid victories. PaganFreak wasn't so lucky, taking an elementary loss from Violent`J's old running buddy Shaggy2Dope!
