Super Punch-Out II: The New World Series

After a big year of international gauntlet battles, the phenomenon called Project Super Punch-Out is about to reboot! Super Punch-Out II will introduce an all-new global line-up for 2014: featuring some of the brightest up and coming world warriors from the four corners of the globe!

Even more significant in 2014 -- the original Project Punch-Out Challenger: little-mac will be sent to his corner to allow new fighters to take the challenge! He will take one final run in the first week, launching January 6. little-mac's best 2013 result came in Week 19 (September 2), when he was able to reach ArtemisFlow (Minor Circuit #6), but suffered 2 defeats (1 rematch). He had been defeated by arch-rival Lays earlier in the same event, but won his rematch.

As in 2014, Project Punch-Out will test the mettle of burgeoning fighters -- offering The Dream Match of a title bout with the Undisputed Champion of the time. Each of the circuits features the same number of opponents as last year, with a roster of new names and returning powers. Sgtf makes his career debut, eager to follow in the footsteps of 2013 Top 20 fighter: proXade!

Also joining the Project Punch-Out line-up in 2014: Bronzie (Australia), Miller (Israel), Torchia (Canada), jaytea (UAE), Asesino (Bulgaria), Hokey (USA) & CaTigeReptile (China/USA). Returning fighters have been elevated to reflect their increased powers: kingjolly (Nigeria) & Zentile (Portugal) making the notable transition from The Minor Circuit to The World Circuit.

Project Punch-Out: Week 3

26 fighters, 3 circuits, 1 challenger! Project Punch-Out brings together the greatest international fighters of the league for a single purpose: To test the limits of a fresh new contender! Borrowing concepts from Project Goldberg, Project Zenkai, The Championship World Tour & The Kombat Fight League -- this new initiative strives to create the perfect warrior!

The Challenger selected is little-mac - a new name whose legacy will be determined by his ability to fight through opponents of increasing difficulty!

After a demoralizing Week 2, it would be a milestone test of character for little-mac on the Monday of the 22nd; marking his first return from a major setback! After going winless, The Challenger was forced to set the bar at a lower rank. During Week 3, little-mac's pain would ultimately be given a name - and it is Lays!

Taking a step toward a developing trend: little-mac suffered another hard fought defeat in the Week 3 opening rematch! Returned to the bottom of the pile by the crushing loss, he would set out to start another trend by earning his second hard fought victory against proXade!

The win, while modest, offered the certainty of a benchmark. It was a result that speaks to the kind of duality Project Punch-Out is likely to deliver. Equally matched against the lowest ranks, little-mac will have a long way to travel before he can escape underdog status. It is this quality of refinement through adversity that Project Punch-Out shares with Project Zenkai - and if the UGP3 victory of Piccolo over nface is anything to go by - it is a method that will make little-mac a better fighter!

Face-to-face with Lays once more, little-mac would this time have the momentum of a good win behind him! It was a factor that appeared to effect the confidence of Lays, but alas, also diminished the strength of little-mac's attack! The potency of their attacks may have whithered, but the result remained much the same. A tight margin kept Lays in front - victorious for the third time.

little-mac will walk into a familiar situation next week, hoping to capitalize on the knowledge he gained from his Week 3 battles! Relegation back to the beginning of The Minor Circuit will be the stakes as The Great Arena once again hosts little-mac v Lays - April 29, 2013!

Project Punch-Out: Week 3
1. Lays (#8) d. little-mac in a close fought match!
2. little-mac d. proXade (#9) in a close fought match!
3. Lays (#8) d. little-mac in a close fought match!

Project Punch-Out: Week 2

26 fighters, 3 circuits, 1 challenger! Project Punch-Out brings together the greatest international fighters of the league for a single purpose: To test the limits of a fresh new contender! Borrowing concepts from Project Goldberg, Project Zenkai, The Championship World TourThe Kombat Fight League -- this new initiative strives to create the perfect warrior! The Challenger selected is little-mac - a new name whose legacy will be determined by his ability to fight through opponents of increasing difficulty!

An exciting first week gives way to a harsh follow-up as little-mac faces his first rematch!

Having come up short against EasterBunny at the conclusion of Week 1, little-mac would get his second chance at glory in the open of Week 2. If he was successful, his quest through The Minor Circuit would have continued. Alas; the school of hard knocks was in full effect as the challenger endured a demoralizing second appearance. Victory would elude him entirely - dealt first by the narrowest of margins by EasterBunny -- only to be followed by another bitter defeat at the hands of relative newcomer: Lays!

It will be the task of little-mac to refocus after this worst case scenario of a double defeat! Fortunately for mac: Week 1 proved he has what it takes to defeat the Thai onslaught of his statistic equal: Lays! Also working in his favor -- the fact that he has very little to lose, still cutting his teeth at the bottom of The Minor Circuit. Per Project Punch-Out rules: little-mac will be forced to start The Minor Circuit from the beginning after suffering a third weekly loss [not including rematches].

With a career record of 3-7-0; little-mac may be far away from the unbeaten standard set by Project Goldberg's 99-1: nface -- but the experience is already mounting! The sweet science of combat will be under the microscope when we resume next week for little-mac v Lays: The Rematch - April 22, 2013!

Project Punch-Out: Week 2
1. EasterBunny (#7) d. little-mac in a near draw!
2. Lays (#8) d. little-mac in a close fought match!

Project Punch-Out: Week 1

With the highs of Ultimate Grand Prix III fresh in mind, a new era begins!

The first week of Project Punch-Out promises a hard road ahead, but revealed plenty of potential from the young contender: little-mac! He entered the fray a little wiser than expected, having made a surprise UGPIII Battle Royal appearance the night before! He entered #7 in the random draw, only to be eliminated quickly by MKR in fifth sequence. It was an unceremonious defeat, but the perfect warm-up for his first shot at The Project Punch-Out Minor Circuit!

The opening stages presented little-mac with fair game, his first opponents approximate equals with only one match between them. The Greek rookie proXade took a hit in his debut match, before Thailand's Lays suffered similar fate, his second career loss. little-mac showed signs of improvement in all three bouts, but against EasterBunny he found himself outgunned!

With a career record of 7-21-1, EasterBunny is something of a Great Arena veteran!
His Grand Prix-Show Battle Royal appearance spilled over into an unlikely grudge match with Zmoke at UGPIII. It was EasterBunny's second UGP appearance - a record that is yet to garner success, but is still a measure of his tenure within the fighting ranks!

little-mac will get his shot at retribution when he returns with a career record of 2-3-0, next week! It promises to be an intriguing rematch when the Project Punch-Out kid takes on the furry furnace: little-mac v EasterBunny II - April 15th, 2013!

Project Punch-Out: Week 1
1. little-mac d. proXade (#9) by a narrow margin!
2. little-mac d. Lays (#8) by a narrow margin!
3. EasterBunny (#7) d. little-mac in a close fought match!

Project Punch-Out: little-mac vs The World!

After UGPIII, The Great Arena will play host to the ultimate test of a new chosen warrior!

Project Goldberg tested what would happen if a fighter were to acquire 99 consecutive league victories [via nface]. Project Zenkai brought the more experienced 99 opponents together again to measure the result of a more arduous, difficult path [via Piccolo]. While Piccolo and nface do battle in the ultimate clash at UGPIII - End of an Era: a new experiment will bring together the greatest warriors of the world in a special contest called: Project Punch-Out!

It will be the task of relatively untested challenger little-mac to battle his way through the international ranks in weekly exhibition bouts. As he accumulates victories and valuable experience, little-mac will earn his way toward the ultimate dream of an Undisputed Championship match!

Three circuits represent increasing difficulty to little-mac, comprised of statistically measured opponents from around the globe! Many of these "world warriors" will be recognized from the 2012 Summer Olympic Games, The Championship World Tour, and regular League competition!

Each battle will increase little-mac's strength and experience, driving him toward the next ranking opportunity! He begins his quest with a lone match to his name -- a 2012 First Round defeat dished out by Shaggy2Dope during Tournament 21: The Ultimate Grand Slam. As a relative clean slate, little-mac will reveal exactly what happens when a competitor is forced to overcome an evenly matched arch-rival, before advancing to new opponents.

    Project Punch-Out Basic Rules
  • Project Punch-Out takes place every Monday.
  • A victory advances little-mac to the next rank in his circuit.
  • A loss grants little-mac the right to a rematch the following week.
  • Losing a rematch demotes little-mac to the previous opponent.
  • By defeating the top rank, little-mac graduates to the next circuit.
  • Three defeats will force little-mac to the lower circuit.
