Monday Night Invasion (October 31, 2016)

Throughout its existence; the Kombat Fight League played host to a special Halloween Battle Royal tradition observed every October 31st. Winners have included VenoMark (2012), The Great Genku (2013), TonyTheTiger (2014), and avenger45 (2015) -- all fighters who've enjoyed memorable reigns as KFL Champion!

Since the collapse of the sub-league at the end of 2015, the KFL Championship has lived on as a highly sought after prize for members of The Invasion. With the title currently in the hands of Alliance fighter Statix, the continuation of this contender's tradition seemed like the perfect opportunity to install a new Invasion #1 Contender! The Invasion wouldn't be able to stack the deck, however, with the thirty-fighter battle royal attracting an eclectic mix of fighters from The Alliance, The British Exit, The New Generation, and the fighting ranks at large.

The lines between factions were blurred as all thirty fighters fought for their chance to challenge for gold. Alliance fighter PaganFreak surprised with the first elimination of Brexiteer Ironize! That was quickly followed by the rapid upset elimination of "The Fallen" Corrupt MINION & Corrupt hydraslash, as well! AdiciWonder and nif thinned out The British Exit's hopes with their early eliminations. UlcaTron was also a disappointing early exit, having been in consideration since a strong performance at Tournament 75!

Time seemed to stop when Banging was confronted by Invasion fighter Grayback. The confused ICWW alum has been fighting for ShawnMichaels and The British Exit of late, but there was a noticeable hesitation before he eliminated Grayback! The distraction was enough to leave DemoniaX vulnerable to "Mad Dog" Onryo. Ringleader ShawnMichaels was furious, but soon found himself eliminated by unlikely Invasion fighter Jericho!

Sekktor would've liked to get his hands on former partner Corrupt hydraslash, but he was already gone. Instead, what would develop into a fantastic run hit its first peak with the back-to-back eliminations of Jason_Voorhees and edge both! It wasn't long before he got his hands on Jericho and Jauger, as well! Somewhere during all of that, Baraka_MK took out one of The Invasion's big names with a surprising mid-match elimination of Chromatose!

As the ranks began to thin, it was becoming clear which fighters would be deciding the result. With the elimination of chaos_Drone by Banging, the thirty were whittled down to a powerhouse six! The Invasion's Loopster and Shen_DuHBK double-teamed Banging to set up a quickfire elimination. Sekktor seized his opportunity for retribution, sending Shen_DuHBK to the loser's list. This began a final countdown that next claimed Loopster -- meaning The Invasion would not have a KFL #1 Contender at the end of the match!

Surprise entrant King Ken had been vital in the elimination of Loopster and tried to work down Sekktor, but soon found himself eliminated, leaving Baraka_MK for an exciting showdown! Sekktor may've taken some lumps, but he was still strong enough to fend off The Dude's offense. In a Halloween shocker -- Sekktor finished the match, becoming the new #1 Contender to the KFL Championship! An unexpected result that left many factions seething as October came to an end.

Weekly Rankings Recap - 10/30/2016

Well, well. What do you know? October 30th inevitably brought out the freaks for Devil's Night! This year it was a ragtag group of fighters who just happened to be present in The Great Arena to face the new threat of Wicked Klowns. Remarkably, this was the first Devil's Night to see every minion taken out. I guess their bite isn't as big as their creepy clown smile!

Reigning Undisputed Champion United: Mimik was in The Great Arena during Devil's Night, but in one of the biggest surprises for this year, there were no title challenges! The_Purple_Bunny and CaTigeReptile maintained their streak as the only fighters to have been at every Devil's Night. TPB was there hot on the back of a win over VenoMark on Friday Night Fights that firmly entrenched him in the race for the Undisputed Championship!

Unknown265 & mwgrant0 put themselves at the front of the line for the Duo Division Championship with a solid win over "British Exit" iam & nif during Friday Night Fights. They've also broken in to the Top 10 teams with their win, reflective of the impressive feat of six wins at Tower of Power XVII!

This week we'll get a clear KFL Championship #1 contender with the return of the Halloween Battle Royal. It takes place later tonight during Monday Night Invasion, with The Invasion eager to put their best fighters forward for a chance to challenge Statix of The Alliance!

Special: Devil's Night (2016)

Fighters generally know to be on their toes if they're in The Great Arena on October 30, but even the most savvy warriors couldn't expect the menace that rolled in with the fog on this particular Devil's Night! A new type of evil descended upon the colosseum, testing the fourteen fighters who happened to find themselves surrounded by Wicked Klowns! This is their story...

14. United: Mimik (c) d. Wicked Klown #31 and slayed it like a champion!
On most Devil's Nights there is an opportunistic figure to challenge for a championship. Way back in 2011, Mimik found his first title reign threatened by a Devil's Night challenge from current United teammate: Mime! On this night, the reigning Undisputed Champion had only the weird Wicked Klowns to worry about. A small problem in comparison to the long list of big game hunters lining up to take the title! It can only be speculated that his unexpected title victory at Return to the Dark Carnival kept him safe on this night. As November breaks and Supercard 86 looms, he won't stay safe!

13. "The Hitman" DECEPTION d. Wicked Klown #30 and slayed him with excellent execution!
As the Wicked Klowns' numbers finally started to thin, it was "The Hitman" DECEPTION who set his scope on ending the chaotic carnival! The former Undisputed Champion wasn't about to let a bunch of clowns ruin his New Generation, effortlessly cleaning The Great Arena of one more fool!

12. The Great Genku d. Wicked Klown #29 and slayed him in a hard fought encounter!
The Invasion's enforcer has been on a roll of big victories, but he seemed vulnerable when a Wicked Klown came stalking! Genku's greatness was challenged as he scrambled to fend off the grinning ghoul, seemingly under estimating the danger he faced. Victory was his in the end, but it was a lucky escape for the fight hand-picked by DaemonX to be The Invasion's great championship hope!

11. The_Purple_Bunny d. Wicked Klown #28 and slayed him with maximum prejudice!
During this week's Friday Night Fights he established himself as one of the top contenders, and while in The Great Arena he took the opportunity to remind everyone just how dangerous he can be with an annihilating attack! The Wicked Klown never stood a chance!

10. ElJobber d. Wicked Klown #27 and slayed the heinous harlequin!
Wicked Klown #27 turned out to be one of the most powerful attacking on Devil's Night, but ElJobber was in no mood for jokes. He took his frustrations out with extreme prejudice, destroying the Wicked Klowns' greatest gag with devastating efficiency!

9. "The Chosen One" Damo d. Wicked Klown #26 and slayed him in a hard battle!
The self-proclaimed "Chosen One" was clearly still walking off the devastating MAX Damage defeat he took at Supercard 84: Return of the Dark Carnival, but Damo wasn't about to let a Wicked Klown finish the job! He appeared surprisingly vulnerable to the cackling ghoul, but summoned enough strength to eliminate another of the carnival sideshows!

8. "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile d. Wicked Klown #25 and slayed the threatening trickster!
Ever a "Guardian" to the environment of The Great Arena, CaTigeReptile stood firm against the Wicked Klowns. They may have found a vulnerable punchline in some of the newer names to join the league, but the Wicked Klowns were sorely outmatched by CTR! An effortless win!

7. DArqueBishop d. Wicked Klown #24 and slayed him in a surprising cameo!
DArqueBishop hasn't been seen in competition since he was defeated by Hokey at All-Star Summer Showdown, but he was in The Great Arena when the menace of the Wicked Klowns swept in! The element of surprise was briefly with the League fighters as an unannounced DArqueness turned on the carnival of clowns! Standing with the impromptu coalition - DAB did his bit to end the laughter!

6. Baraka_MK d. Wicked Klown #23 and slayed it in a hard fought encounter!
"The Dude" is no stranger to the trials of Devil's Night, but even he had to be taken aback by this "New Generation" of threatening minion! Wicked Klown #23 wasn't backing down, turning BMK's moment in The Great Arena into a sudden nightmare. He controlled his fear, putting an end to the impromptu clown show.

5. Poasty d. Wicked Klown #22 and slayed the maniacal menace!
The flood of Wicked Klowns into The Great Arena had a haunting effect on the man called Poasty. Still plagued by the memory of that fateful Friday of September 16th, he saw eerie echoes of the madness that overtook Shoe in these grinning fiends. Inspired by the will to survive, he laughed off the Wicked Klown with devastating efficiency. The United were nowhere to be seen.

4. G0LD d. Wicked Klown #21 and slayed it in a hard fought encounter!
The sensation that is G0LD found a tough customer in the Wicked Klown designated #21! This cackling menace appeared stronger than many of the other ghastly oddities attacking The Great Arena, but the Division 2 wonder was never the less able to send him back to the Dark Carnival!

3. Shinnokxz d. Wicked Klown #20 and slayed it in an old fashioned clown whooping!
There was little fear in Shinnokxz as he faced down the menace of the Wicked Klowns. He took the opportunity to build on his increasing might, turning turmoil into profit with a solid victory.

2. xort d. Wicked Klown #19 and slayed it a well earned victory!
Relative newcomer xort was among the most vulnerable to the Wicked Klown's assault, but he faced their attack with steely determination. He was able to find the flaw in the Klown's creepy attack, and exploited it for a hard earned victory.

1. MKMaster d. Wicked Klown #18 and slayed it in a hard fought encounter!
MKMaster found himself thoroughly tested by the strange strength of the Wicked Klown, but was able to eke out a victory, ridding The Great Arena of just one of these strange invading entities!

Friday Night Fights (October 28, 2016)

Ever since United: Mimik won the Undisputed Championship at Supercard 84: Return to the Dark Carnival, VenoMark has been completely incensed! Having thoroughly bested Mimik earlier in the year, he has no respect for the Hall of Famer, believing it should be he who got the title shot!

The main event of Friday Night Fights was to be VenoMark's proving ground, but consistently getting in his way has been another contention hopeful: The_Purple_Bunny! Coming out of Night of Champions V, TPB had the better of VenoMark, but the scores were evened at Pre-Show 85. FNF was the chance to go double, but VenoMark capitulated at the worst possible time, handing TPB a compelling victory!

Unknown265 & mwgrant0 had much better luck following up their recent successes. They were one of the stand-out teams at Tower of Power XVII, picking up six wins before the night was through! They were narrowly upended whilst climbing the Tower by "The British Exit" Liam & nif, but on Friday Night Fights they were refreshed and ready to start a fresh streak! With AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane turning their performance into a title shot during this week's historic Monday Night Invasion, it could be that big things are finally once again in Unknown265 & mwgrant0's future!

Tower of Power was also the scene where Menas made a surprise return to reunite with Politics! Menas had been put on the shelf back in June, when he suffered a brutal defeat during the Mid-Year Grand Slam. Politics has been fighting on in honor of his fallen comrade, but a vacant slot in The Challenger 7 allowed them to finally be a team again! After a rough start on Sunday, they got back to business with a comprehensive return victory over rick991 & kentei290!

Also comfortably on the winner's list: Poasty, whose recent feud with United: Murdoink has turned into a decisively one-sided affair! The United's newest (re)recruit was no doubt hoping to turn a much needed win into Division 2 contention, but it looks like Poasty's championship comeback is getting ever closer after the disappointment of Tournament 75.

Friday Night Fights (October 28, 2016):
10. The_Purple_Bunny d. VenoMark [+5]
9. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 d. "The British Exit" Liam & nif [+2]
8. Poasty d. United: Murdoink [+1]
7. Politics & Menas d. rick991 & kentei290 [+2]
6. "Portuguese Pegasus" Zentile d. G0LD [+1]
5. KittyKat & JoelKatz d. McDaniel & fraysol [+1]
4. Shinnokxz d. Ottis [+1]
3. Red_Spaniard d. xort [+1]
2. Killswitch d. AcidicWonder [+1]

Halloween Battle Royal Next Week

Next week's Monday Night Invasion will adopt a tradition established in the Kombat Fight League, hosting a Halloween Battle Royal to determine a new #1 contender for the KFL Championship!

The Battle Royal will be Elimination format, challenging thirty fighters who enter the match together to whittle their ranks to just one! The winner will face reigning champion Statix on a future date!

You can bet the fighters in The Invasion will be eager to get their claws on a third championship, adding to Violent`J's record setting Duo Division Championship reign, and his new star recruit, Division 2 Champion SubScorpTile!

It all goes down at the beginning of next week -- October 31st! Be watching one day early to see if anything comes of the eerie eve known as Devil's Night -- a cursed date of inexplicable evil ever since The Great Arena's construction in 2011!

Friday Night Fights Previews Big Week

Friday Night Fights is promising a big night of action this Friday to keep the energy high after a history making start to the week!

Coming straight out of Tower of Power XVII, the breakout pair of Unknown265 & mwgrant0 will be back in action looking to add to their impressive six Supercard wins! FNF will also see the return of Politics & Menas who were reunited as the surprise seventh team in The Challenger 7!

Main event action will also see two big solo rematches! The_Purple_Bunny will take on VenoMark in a continuation of their series of matches at Supercard 84 and Pre-Show 85! Both men are fighting to get back to the coveted Undisputed Championship and neither is willing to concede!

United: Murdoink will also continue The United's bad blood with Poasty when they go toe-to-toe in another bitter rematch from Pre-Show 85! For Poasty, it will be a fight about restoring his contention for the Division 2 Championship, and facing the scars he incurred from The United during Friday Night Fights!

All this and much more! It all goes down this Friday - October 28th! Don't miss it!

The Championship Century Club

During this week's Monday Night Invasion, "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J completed the impressive feat of defending the Duo Division Championship for one full calendar year!

This unprecedented act puts Team Xtreme in remarkably rare air, far and away surpassing the nearest single title reign by well over 100 days! That's even more extraordinary when you consider how rare it is for any champion to endure for those 100 days alone!

Only ten recorded title reigns have surpassed 100 consecutive days in the highly competitive Great Arena. These most winningest of champions are part of a rare group affectionately dubbed "The Century Club". Who are these champions?

1. Marz & Violent`J - 366+ days, 17 defenses [Duo Division Championship]
Still presently enjoying the fruits of their amazing reign as Duo Division Champions, this Hall of Fame pairing arrived in The Great Arena in 2012. They brought the experience of being 3-time ICWW Tag Team Champions with them, winning an Olympic Gold Medal for Canada the year of their arrival, and reunited three years later to win the Duo Division Championship at the aptly titled Supercard 71: Greatness. In their time in The Great Arena they've earned a phenomenal 30-1 win/loss record, blemished only by a team involving the second longest reigning champion on this list.

2. Ratt - 213 days, 11 defenses [Undisputed Championship]
If Ratt hadn't already been considered one of the greatest of all-time - his fourth reign as Undisputed Champion would've cemented it! Until the rise of Team Xtreme, it was the longest reign on record, stretching from May, 2013 until Battle Royale 2014! During this unbelievable run Ratt defeated a who's who of league's best fighters with a big win at All-Star Summer Showdown. The reign could've been even longer, but after winning the title for a third time at Ultimate Grand Prix III, he briefly lost the title to The_Purple_Bunny, reclaiming it a fortnight later to begin this historic gauntlet!

3. Damo & DeathScepter - 210 days, 10 defenses [Duo Division Championship]
"The Service Krew" Damo & DeathScepter made history with a record setting 200+ day title reign in 2015, but much like Ratt, they only achieved this feat after being forced to fight to reclaim the title they lost for one month. Tower of Power XII returned them immediately to the title they lost to Shoe & Artanix, beginning a domination of the Duo Division with a three-way title defenses at Ultimate Grand Prix V! They beat the best teams the league had to offer, but were eventually dethroned by the very format that delivered them to gold, losing to Ratt & NightHawk at Tower of Power XIV! A brief stop over before Marz & Violent`J took things to new Xtremes!

4. Ratt & Kron - 154 days, 5 defenses [Duo Division Championship]
There's a reason Ratt is considered one of the greatest fighters of all time. Not only has he dominated the ranks as one of the best Undisputed Champions of all time -- he's also been a game changer for the Duo Division! Before he established his partnership with NightHawk; Ratt forged an uneasy all-star alliance with Kron, using his Royal Roulette 2012 win to challenge "The Pacific Connection" Oozaru & Banging at All-Star Summer Showdown! They liberated the title from the invading ICWW throwbacks and kept it out of reach until January, when the desire to entire Battle Royale led them to vacate the championship! Who knows how long they might have reigned if they hadn't?

5. Knickxasawrrrr - 140 days, 10 defenses [Division 2 Championship]
The realization of the Division 2 Championship led to a tumultuous two months of title changes. In December 2013, the title was finally stabilized by a fighter who would go on to be one of its greatest holders! Knickxasawrrrr was known as "The Y2K Problem", and he posed the ultimate problem for the under 5k Div. 2 fighters who hoped to etch their names in gold. He endured a heavy succession of title defenses, until finally he was unseated in April 2014 by a former top champ fighting below his weight class: Mime! That wasn't the end of Knickxasawrrrr's mark on the title, though!

6. VenoMark - 139 days, 10 defenses [KFL Championship]
Originally conceived as the pinnacle of the sponsored sub-league; The KFL Championship was a title that courted regular title challengers from all levels of competition. m0s became Head Booker of the KFL in 2014, and instituted VenoMark as his first new champion of 2015. Having held the title twice before (with blacksaibot), VenoMark stepped up in his first solo reign, making up for lost time as the "King of the KFL"! He became a mythic figure, fending off would-be challengers and rivals, giving the title one of its best reigns in the process!

7. Crow - 127 days, 7 defenses [Undisputed Championship]
Known at the time as "The Unstoppable" Crow, this Hall of Famer was the original member of "The Century Club" way back in 2011! That first year of competition was by far the most heated, and in his second reign, Crow drew intense scrutiny as he emerged as a seemingly unbeatable Undisputed Champion! Reigning from May to October, his reputation grew, and with it a growing anticipation for every one of his exciting title defenses! Though his reign has since been significantly surpassed, its place within the intense formative year of The Great Arena makes it a uniquely impressive feat.

8. DECEPTION - 120 days, 3 defenses [Undisputed Championship]
The year long title reign of Team Xtreme may've got all the press, but 2016 has also seen a couple of surprising new additions to The Century Club! "The Hitman" DECEPTION finally cashed in on his star in March, winning the Undisputed Championship for the first time! He blew everyone away by retaining at Ultimate Grand Prix VI, but dropped the title soon after. On June 12, he reclaimed the title, and began a second reign that only ended earlier this month, at Supercard 84! DECEPTION has already earned his place among the greats, and could be back on this list in the near future!

9. Statix - 119 days, 6 defenses [KFL Championship]
At the beginning of 2016, the KFL sub-league collapsed - but the KFL Championship lived on! The title became a symbol of power for a new era of competition in The Great Arena, joining the larger league and its event schedule. At Ultimate Grand Prix VI, Statix made history as the first fighter to win the title at the annual Supercard spectacular. Fighting to keep it from the clutches of the force known as The Invasion, he held the title for an impressive 119 days! Statix has since won the title back for The Alliance and is on his way to another run!

10. Knickxasawrrrr - 105 days, 8 defenses [Division 2 Championship]
When Knickxasawrrrr won the Division 2 Championship for a third time at Ultimate Grand Prix V, he was already an established benchmark for the under 5k ranks. Taking on a statesman role within the maturing Division 2 scene, he dominated the first half of 2015 less as a gatekeeper, and more as a champion enjoying the height of his powers. On June 14, he became the first champion to defend a title in The Eliminator format. A harbinger for his subsequent title loss, but a result that ensured he entered The Century Club for a phenomenal second time!

Monday Night Invasion (October 24, 2016)

A celebratory atmosphere opened Monday Night Invasion, where Duo Division Champions Marz & Violent`J were surrounded by friends to celebrate their 365th day as undefeated champs! Their successful defense at Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII had guaranteed them completion of a full calendar year! They weren't the only team to shine at Sunday's event, though.

"The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane equaled the Challenger 7 record of six wins at Tower of Power XVII, and with that in mind they interrupted proceedings to challenge Team Xtreme to defend their titles in the night's main event! They weren't the only opposition force looking to rain on Violent`J and The Invasion's parade, either!

The British Exit were back in the arena to cause harm where they could. ShawnMichaels continued his command over recruits Banging & DemoniaX, marshalling a solid victory against Invasion arch-rivals Shen_DuHBK, Jason_Voorhees & edge! It was the General's benefit supplied by unlucky soldiers: Ironize & AcidicWonder were out of luck in a hard fought rematch against Rhyno & Grayback. Similarly, Tower stand-outs Liam & nif were narrowly edge out of a win against hot Challenger 7 duo "The Fallen" Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION!

It was hard for the main event competitors not to have a wry smile on their faces as they squared off for a tense Duo Division Championship showdown! Nostalgia hit hard in the build to Marz & VJ's record setting title defense at Supercard 85. In a rematch of their Dead Or Alive IX battle, the ICWW alum were a blast from the past for a new age! This time out, AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane were in duo harmony. Their attack hit hard and fast, but Team Xtreme too were enjoying a renewed sense of togetherness, mutually motivated by their title record! The Alliance were tantalizingly good -- but Team Xtreme would not be denied! Still champions after 365 days!

Monday Night Invasion: Week 33 (October 24, 2016):
6. "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J (c) d. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane [+1] [Duo Division Championship]
5. ShawnMichaels, Banging & DemoniaX d. Jason_Voorhees, Shen_DuHBK & edge [+1]

Weekly Rankings Recap - 10/23/2016

History was made at Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII, but the one year reign of "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J wasn't the only story coming out of Sunday. Every Tower produces a stand-out team, and at XVII there were two! "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane tied the record for Challenger 7 wins, fighting all the way to #4! Matching that six fight win streak over the course of the entire event was #10 team: Unknown265 & mwgrant0!

Both of those teams have interesting angles toward the year-long Duo Division Champions: Violent`J's high ranking connection to The Invasion makes him a natural foe for The Alliance. More interesting still, Unknown265 & mwgrant0 are coming back from a title match loss at Supercard 76 that left mwgrant0 on the incapacitated list!

Established veteran teams like "The United" Shoe & Artanix still look like the best chance to topple the unbeatable champs, but there are always those bolt-of-blue challengers with potential to upset the top teams! "The British Exit" Liam & nif could be one of those, finally entering the Top 10 with a surprising two-match win at Tower of Power. Don't count out Politics & Menas just yet, either! The elation of Menas' surprise return via the Challenger 7 vacancy may've been cut short, but it's still a potential game changer for the Duo Division!

Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII

The Tower exists as a beacon of hope. Gleaming in its splendor, it looms high above - representing man's desire to reach up to the heavens and brush godhood. For some, The Tower will be the path to ruination. An unattainable peak setting them up for an all mighty fall. For others, it will be the base of their Promethean success -- a monument to their excellent immortality!

An entire has provided a compelling backstory to Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII! There will be more at stake than the Duo Division Championship. History hangs in the balance as "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J face one final, almighty test on their quest to reign undefeated for a full calendar year! They have endured fifteen title defenses before this moment. Now ten of the very best teams in the Duo Division scramble to fend off The Challenger 7, and ascend to defeat these historic champions -- or to anoint them!

The Tower of Power:
28. "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J (c) d. TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile (#1) in a history making victory! [+2] [Duo Division Championship]
There was a tension unlike any other as "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J entered The Great Arena to defend their Duo Division Championship! There's always a special gear reserved for when a title is defended at the peak of The Tower of Power, but this time it was more than  a mere twenty-something matches building up to the final battle -- it was 364 days!

Marz & Violent`J have had a spectacular career with two major chapters, the second representing an almost unbeaten Great Arena run that began in 2012 and culminated in the Duo Championship, won this time last year, at Supercard 71: Greatness! In the fifteen title defenses since, Team Xtreme have remained undefeated -- besting the 10 defense record set by Damo & DeathScepter in their defense at June's Tower of Power XVI! At Tower of Power XVII, the chance to become the first team to secure a full year as champions put an extra layer of pressure on an already momentous occasion!

The unrefined team dynamic of TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile didn't quite fit the historic Duo Division moment. It lent an air of uncertainty to the bout, with neither team having a lot to do with the other. TTT had gotten the better of Violent`J when they met in the Summer Grand Slam. Facing the combined might of Team Xtreme proved a very different story!

The rift that had formed between Marz & Violent`J over VJ's affiliation with The Invasion appeared to mend amidst the nostalgia and spectacle. Team Xtreme was in top form in the historic title defense, leaving nothing to chance as they faced the prospect of rewriting the record books! TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile were worthy adversaries, delivering a challenge that could've troubled any other team. Against the Hall of Famer pairing, it simply wasn't enough. Summoning the peak of their powers, Marz & Violent`J were comprehensive in their victory! The sting of defeat would only cost TTT & CTR -2p, but the impact of the result will resonate throughout all time! Marz & Violent`J are the Duo Division Champions -- reigning undefeated for 364 days! Be watching for results from Monday Night Invasion, where Team Xtreme will arrive at the 365th day of their reign - one year on from their original title win!

27. TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile (#1) d. "The United" Shoe & Artanix (#2) [+1]
The bad blood between The United and TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile goes back to July's Royal Roulette match, escalating into their alliance at All-Star Summer Showdown. After they conspired to take out Mime, the bitter rivalry between the #1 team and Shoe & Artanix developed into a searing constant -- burning multiple events, including the contender's clash at Supercard 84! Fighting from the #2 spot, it was now The United who were eager to get one back against the all-star alliance of Guardian & Predator! Though their attack was considerably more venomous than it was against The New Generation, they had clearly expended their best in just reaching the #1 spot. Though not nearly as experienced as a duo, TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile have been successful in mutually directing their impressive solo talents against the enmeshed forces of The United! If they'd faced each other a match sooner it might have gone the other way. In the final fight before the Championship final - it was TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile who were convincing winners!

26. "The United" Shoe & Artanix (#2) d. "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo (#3) [+2]
The top three rungs of Tower of Power XVII were determined by a three-way contender's clash at Supercard 84: Return to the Dark Carnival. Despite sharing the loss, "The United" Shoe & Artanix at least had the distinction of elimination Baraka_MK & Onryo. Eager to avenge their swift defeat, The New Generation brought the fight directly to the faces of The United -- and paid for it! Shoe & Artanix had their own score to settle with the winners of that contender match, and demonstrated the severity of their intent with the kind of fight that could win them The Tower of Power! With absolutely no margin for any other result, The United dominated The New Generation and stepped forward to the biggest grudge match of Supercard 85!

25. "The New Generation" Baraka_MK & Onryo (#3) d. CCShadow & Scott-Howell (#4) [+1]
The last time these two teams met, it was Supercard 80: Tower of Power XVI, and CCShadow & Scott-Howell were running roughshod through the entire format! The New Generation were the #3 team on that Tower as well, and they fell victim to the rampaging veterans, whose performance was a defining moment of the event! At Tower of Power XVII, Baraka_MK & Onryo called upon their experience to ensure it didn't happen again! The New Generation were a wall before their legendary rivals, completely unmoved in their attempts to advance from the #4 spot. With a comprehensive win, The New Generation advanced toward a rematch they were looking forward to.

24. CCShadow & Scott-Howell (#4) d. Jammer2Omega & Porygonix (#5) [+1]
The #5 pairing attacked their next match with gusto, eager to test themselves against the seasoned supremacy of CCShadow & Scott-Howell! J2O & Porygonix have viewed teams like these as the ultimate benchmark they've been fighting to reach. If their success is to be measured against these top teams, then the future is bright! CCShadow & Scott-Howell put up a solid defense against the enthusiastic team, who weren't able to topple the veterans -- but made a very convincing case for their ability to do so!

23. Jammer2Omega & Porygonix (#5) d. "The British Exit" Liam & nif (#7) [+1]
The lull in competition in their last match seemed to allow Liam & nif to rally before advancing to The Tower top half. They looked more convincing, but awaiting them in the #5 spot was one of the brightest up-and-coming teams: Jammer2Omega & Porygonix! The fan-favourite pairing didn't disappoint, relishing the opportunity to execute a comprehensive win against their lagging foes.

22. "The British Exit" Liam & nif (#7) d. Sekktor & legoslayer10 (#6) [+1]
Sekktor & legoslayer10 showed their ability to deliver hard hitting performances at a high level, but when The British Exit came to the sixth rung, they had none of the fire seen earlier in the night. Both teams looked heavily spent, clearly affected by the earlier trials of The Challenger 7. It was another close fought finish, but Liam & nif were again able to eke out a valuable win!

21. "The British Exit" Liam & nif (#7) d. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) [+1]
Just when it looked like Unknown265 & mwgrant0 were Cinderella at the ball -- "The British Exit" Liam & nif rushed in to meet their opponents at full force! The two duos collided like running bulls - perfectly matched and almost inseparable! With 2 defeats to their name already thanks to The Challenger 7, Liam & nif that bit more determined against their fatiguing foes. The slightest change to the match could've completely flipped the result, but after a hard hitting near-draw, it was The British who advanced to the sixth rung!

20. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) d. "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade (#8) [+1]
On a night when numbers would matter so much, Unknown265 & mwgrant0 made their night something to remember with a sixth win that equaled The Alliance's C7 push! The Greek Crisis were completely bamboozled by the charging #10 team, who earned victory against the high profile Greeks in very convincing fashion!

19. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) d. Mark & Leroy (#9) [+1]
In the structure of Tower of Power, fighters positioned at #10 do one of two things: They crumble under the heavy barrage of The Challenger 7 -- or they thrive! Unknown265 & mwgrant0 had a solid run with 4 wins, and turned that momentum into the first Tower elimination against Mark & Leroy!

The Challenger 7:
18. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) d. Politics & Menas [+1]
Mystery surrounded the final team in The Challenger 7, the result of a draw in the qualifying matches at Pre-Show 85. Everyone in attendance exploded when Menas emerged alongside Politics to take the final C7 spot! Menas hadn't been seen since June, when he suffered a severe injury fighting Genku in the Mid-Year Grand Slam! Politics valiantly vowed to fight on in honor of his fallen comrade, reaching the peak of a Division 2 Championship shot at Pre-Show 83! It was an elating scene to see them now back together -- but the surprise reunion was quickly rained on by the fresh, highly motivated challenge of Unknown265 & mwgrant0. Suffering the rust of four years apart, Politics & Menas couldn't complete the dream return at Tower of Power XVII. Now that Menas is back, though, they have plenty of time to rebuild their game!

17. CCShadow & Scott-Howell (#4) d. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane [+1]
16. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane d. Jammer2Omega & Porygonix (#5) [+1]
15. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane d. Sekktor & legoslayer10 (#6) [+1]
14. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane d. "The British Exit" Liam & nif (#7) [+1]
13. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane d. "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade (#8) [+2]
12. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane d. Mark & Leroy (#9) [+1]
11. "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane d. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) [+1]
Not content to be outdone by The Invasion -- "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane came to fight! The seasoned combination were probably a little hard done to be forced to qualify at Pre-Show 85 - evidenced by the unfortunate fate felt by rxvt! The Alliance Super Friends continued that dominant, hard hitting style, completely bulldozing their way through the beginning rungs! They became the first C7 team to breach Jammer2Omega & Porygonix, and fought through a hard battle to equal Pink_Ranger & Ghostdragon's record of reaching rung #4! CCShadow & Scott-Howell turned on a super heavyweight performance to prevent The Alliance reaching the top, but the impact of the record equaling run had every team in the Top 10 on notice with just one Challenger 7 pair left!

10. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) d. "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge [+1]
With The Invasion's Fallen out after an impactful run, it was up to Jason_Voorhees & edge to pick up the slack for their team. At Pre-Show 85 they qualified in a tense match against "British Exit" Ironize & AcidicWonder, and found themselves locked in a stabilizing encounter with Unknown265 & mwgrant0! The #10 team got their destiny back in control, fending off The Invasion in a tight one.

9. Sekktor & legoslayer10 (#6) d. "The Invasion" Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION [+2]
8. "The Invasion" Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION d. "The British Exit" Liam & nif (#7) [+1]
7. "The Invasion" Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION d. "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade (#8) [+1]
6. "The Invasion" Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION d. Mark & Leroy (#9) [+1]
5. "The Invasion" Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION d. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) [+2]
They've only been together since Supercard 83, but Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION have picked up right where the previous incarnation of The Fallen left off! They confidently cleared their way through the first four layers of The Tower of Power, stepping up their qualifying game that saw deadpool & MercWithMouth taken out of contention. Liam & nif briefly whiffed causing trouble, but it was fittingly Sekktor & legoslayer10 who ended The Invasion's Corrupt charge up he Tower! They already bested the pair at Supercard 84, inspired by the turn of UlcaTron to revisit the rescue of their corrupted former allies. A big picture to be addressed when there weren't more matches to fight!

4. Mark & Leroy (#9) d. McDaniel & fraysol [+1]
3. McDaniel & fraysol d. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) [+1]
Just as it looked as if Unknown265 & mwgrant0 may be building up unbeatable momentum, the combination of McDaniel & fraysol reminded them that they are never a team to be under estimated! They had a hard fight with Supercard 84 title challengers KittyKat & JoelKatz in qualifying, but were more emphatic in their preliminary win. It didn't last past that - but it was an impactful reminder!

2. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) d. Bofh & Dolce [+2]
Bofh & Dolce were confident qualifiers over Rhyno & Grayback at Pre-Show 85, but they found themselves sorely outclassed against Unknown265 & mwgrant0! The #10 team turned up the heat after their first match, delivering a hard hitting victory in their second bout!

1. Unknown265 & mwgrant0 (#10) d. Piccolo & GohanSon [+1]
In the lead-up to Tournament 75, Piccolo & GohanSon helped Poasty prepare for a comeback with a string of matches culminating at Supercard 84. They had no trouble qualifying for the Challenger 7 at Pre-Show 85, but may've wished they'd done some extra training when facing Unknown265 & mwgrant0! Victory was beyond reach in the opening match -- but only just!

Tower of Power XVII - History in the Making

Win, lose, or draw; Marz & Violent`J will make history when they defend the Duo Division Championship for the 16th time during tomorrow's Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII!

The Tower of Power will mark their 364th day as undefeated Duo Division Champions. A feat unrivalled in history by any other team. If they win, they will cross the threshold of an entire calendar year, but with history so important to this match, what do the previous sixteen Towers of Power tell us about their chances?

Champions have successfully retained their title an overwhelming ten times in past Tower of Power events! Those fighting from the coveted #1 position have risen to claim gold four times. The lowest numbers to ever produce a new champion are #2 and #3 -- once each, at Tower of Power IV and Tower of Power XII. Both of these instances were Duo Division Championship winners: Genku & ShingoEX (February 19, 2012) and Damo & DeathScepter (February 22, 2015).

The Duo Division Championship has only been retained four times in the Tower of Power format -- or roughly 57% from seven Towers of Power. Marz & Violent`J are one of those teams, having successfully defended the titles against #1 team Damo & DeathScepter in July, at Supercard 80: Tower of Power XVI. This was the only time Team Xtreme has competed in the Tower of Power format!

Supercard 85 will mark the first time The Tower of Power has ever been erected in October.

Of the seven Towers of Power to take place in the second half of the year, only one has seen a successful title change: Tower of Power XIV (September 20, 2015). That event is memorable for ending the third championship reign of Damo & DeathScepter, who set a record of 10 title defenses over an uninterrupted stretch of 210 days. The winning team was Ratt & NightHawk - who are also the only team in history to have beaten Marz & Violent'`J in The Great Arena!

Ratt & NightHawk were supposed to challenge Marz & Violent`J during Supercard 84: Return to the Dark Carnival, but were forced to withdrawn contention due to attacks on NightHawk. They are not expected to compete in Tower of Power XVII, even though a seventh team is yet to be announced for the Challenger 7.

No Challenger 7 fighter (or team) has ever successfully reached the top of The Tower. Marz was the closest, fighting as an individual to reach the #2 rung at Tower of Power V. The best performance by a duo came at Tower of Power XIV when Pink_Ranger & Ghostdragon reached #4. They beat their own record of #5 from Tower of Power IV. #5 is the next best solo effort, reached by TonyTheTiger at Tower of Power VII and VenoMark at Tower of Power XI.

The deepest runs within The Tower itself came at Tower of Power XIII when Ratt unsuccessfully challenged for the title from #7 spot. The best duo was The_Purple_Bunny & Philip94, who reached the title match from #6 at Tower of Power VIII.

What does it all mean? History tells of great uncertainty for the reigning Duo Division Champions! They may have had their successes at the event in the past, but the trials faced by defending champs are almost evenly split between win and loss! Will Marz & Violent`J achieve the unprecedented act of defending their titles for 364 consecutive days? Be here tomorrow for full results from a historic Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII!

Friday Night Fights (October 21, 2016)

This weekend's historic Tower of Power XVII started early in the main event of Friday Night Fights! Some semblance of order was restored after last week's attack by The Invasion, allowing The United to get one final shot in against "The Guardian" CaTigeReptile, before the chase for the Duo Division Championship resumes!

A battle at Supercard 84 ensured The United will go in #2 beneath the #1 team of TonyTheTiger and CTR! The prize at stake - the opportunity to unseat Hall of Fame Champs "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J, who are on the precipice of reigning for a full, uninterrupted year!

A qualifying match draw at Pre-Show 85 left this weekend's Challenger 7 short a team. In an effort to settle the score, the evenly matched tandems met once more. Kiara85 & Stealth-Ninja were able to control the rematch, comfortably besting Shinnokxz & NosajSamoht. It's all for naught, with league officials already announcing the selection of a new seventh team - to be revealed this Sunday.

Could that mystery combination be MKR & blacksaibot? They were back in action on Friday Night Fights, taking on #8 team "The Greek Crisis" maxilos & proXade. The final test before The Tower gave the Greeks a whole lot of trouble - a win a great argument for the returning team! Losing qualifiers "The British Exit" Ironize & AcidicWonder also put their best foot forward, picking up a solid +3 win over kentei290 & rick991, bouncing back from being devastated by The Invasion!

British Exit leader ShawnMichaels was also back in action, picking up another convenient win. His recruited allies DemoniaX and Banging were nowhere to be seen, likely recovering from the impact of further defeat.when Team Brexit launched a retaliatory attack against The Invasion during this week's Monday Night Invasion.

Division 2 fighters bounced back from last week's ordeal, too. Poasty picked up a massive win over Tournament 75 winner Zentile, while his newest rival Murdoink kept his hopes on track with a solid win over ]{0MBAT. As revealed when Poasty won at Pre-Show 85 -- Murdoink has returned to The United he helped found late in 2013! Another pawn in the volatile feud between Poasty and Shoe!

History will be made this weekend when The Great Arena hosts Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII! Ten of the best teams in the Duo Division will form the combative structure, refining their fighting skills as they stalk the opportunity to defeat Marz & Violent`J on their 364th day as reigning Duo Division Champions! A must-see event -- Sunday, October 23rd! Be here!

Going to Xtremes: The Path of Marz & Violent`J

This weekend at Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII - the reigning tandem of Marz & Violent`J will attempt to make history by successfully defending their Duo Division Championship for an uninterrupted 364th day! Victory will all but assure the pair the unprecedented feat of reigning for a full calendar year - but the story of their success stretches over a far greater period than 365 days!

The Canadian pairing were already established as a team when they exploded onto the scene in ICWW. Cynical toward the new promotion at first, they missed key seminal events, but quickly made up for lost time with individual and tag team triumphs. It wasn't long before they inevitably won the ICWW Tag Team Championship, and began a dynasty as two of the most important figures in the organizations epoch-making run!

Surviving records show Team Xtreme always had a head-to-head edge over rivals "The Pacific Connection" Oozaru & Banging, but their rivalry over the years helped the argument that they were the greatest Tag Team of all-time. They were 3-time Tag Team Champions, yet the heights of their career came as individuals fighting for the International and Heavyweight Championships!

At times, the complicated relationship between Marz and Violent`J saw them competing as rivals. Marz broke away first as the ring technician, while Violent`J courted fan support with his exciting style and big personality! They were at odds at the close of ICWW, but when Violent`J entered The Great Arena in 2012, Marz and a reunion wasn't far behind!

The "Silent Invasion" by ICWW Immortals began a second era in the Team Xtreme career, elevating their status with domination over The Great Arena! In August 2012, Marz & Violent`J earned an Olympic Gold Medal for Canada. They then won the subsequent first Grand Slam [Doubles] event in an incredible undefeated streak! Violent`J's reign as an Undisputed Champion and the loyalties of ICWW alum took them away from the Duo Division, but in 2015 Team Xtreme were back to fight for themselves! They suffered their first defeat at All-Star Summer Showdown, but avenged that loss by taking the Duo Division Championship from Ratt & NightHawk! The rest is history!

For fifteen Duo Division Championship defenses and 360 days - "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J have reigned undefeated as a tandem! They are already an unprecedented success, Hall of Famers whose legacy has been cemented. Win, lose, or draw - they are a part of The Great Arena legend.

This Sunday they attempt to do something no one has ever done. At Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII - the best in the league will sharpen themselves in pursuit of the gold! It will be the 364th day of Marz & Violent`J as champions. If they win, they will reach one full year! Can they do it? Revisit their legendary career together below and then be here Sunday to get all the results!

Officials Address Challenger 7 Situation

Pre-Show 85 was supposed to determine seven teams who will challenge the Tower of Power this weekend at Supercard 85. The Challenger 7 is a time honored tradition dating back to the very first Tower of Power event, but a tied match between Shinnokxz & NosajSamoht and Kiara85 & Stealth-Ninja has left the seventeenth Tower short one pair!

League officials have announced today that the stalemated teams will compete in a rematch during this week's Friday Night Fights -- but that the result will not impact The Challenger 7. Instead, officials have begun making alternate arrangements for the seventh position that will be revealed this Sunday, during Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII itself!

Head official Mick elaborated: "Competition within the Duo Division has been really tight all year and this just proves it. You hardly ever see a tie in two-man matches! Qualifying is about winning and in this instance: I think the replacement pick will be more than adequate! Supercard 85 is going to be a historic event. It's going to be great!"

As is standard, the top ten teams selected by officials will comprise The Tower of Power. The event will start when The Challenger 7 each attempt to run the gauntlet to reach the eleventh and final tier: The Duo Division Championship! Once all teams have competed, the Tower will then turn in on itself, fighting from the bottom to the top until the final team fights for the title. Tower of Power XVII will be extra special, marking the 364th day of "Team Xtreme" Marz & Violent`J's title reign. A successful defense will mean the first ever year-long Championship reign!

Confirmed qualifiers for this weekend's Tower of Power XVII Challenger 7 are:
- "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane
- "The Invasion" Jason_Voorhees & edge
- "The Invasion" Corrupt hydraslash & Corrupt MINION
- Bofh & Dolce
- McDaniel & fraysol
- Piccolo & GohanSon

Monday Night Invasion (October 17, 2016)

Last week DaemonX took The Invasion to Friday Night Fights to launch an all-out assault on The British Exit. This week, the British were coming to even the score on Monday Night Invasion!

Far fewer in number, Team Brexit was a less encompassing threat to the usual proceedings of Monday nights. Having lost to ShawnMichaels last Friday, DaemonX remained hidden while his shock troopers did the fighting. ShawnMichaels was the only fight to again make an impact, taking down old nemesis Shen_DuHBK. The rest of the British Invasion suffered defeats: Liam & nif and Ironize & AcidicWonder beaten decisively. Jason_Voorhees & edge could meet Liam & nif again if they can fight out of The Challenger 7 this weekend to climb Tower of Power XVII!

Banging returned to Monday Night fighting on the side of The Invasion. Still confused by the identity of DemoniaX, Banging tried to avenge the MAX Damage impact she suffered on Friday at the hands of DaemonX' chief enforcer: The Great Genku. Alas, Genku far outclassed Banging in a comprehensive victory! Still suffering from her harsh beating, DemoniaX couldn't beat Jauger.

The Invasion's enemies are many, and although The British Invasion couldn't occupy the entire event -- The New Generation and The Alliance were both in tow to bring the fight to the home team! The New Generation were back in the main event, with former champ DECEPTION happy to be alongside his friends in a scintillating victory over Violent`J and The Fallen!

This weekend will see Violent`J & Marz defend their Duo Division Championship in the final battle of Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII. Among the top rated teams competing at the peak of The Tower will be Baraka_MK & Onryo! If the champs can fend off the competition they'll complete the feat of one full year as reigning champions. If The New Generation, or #1 team TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile, can beat the champs history will be made!

Before the Tower of Power dismantles itself -- The Challenger 7 will attempt to scale the entire Top 10 ladder! Among the six teams confirmed at Pre-Show 85 will be "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane! It all goes down this Sunday -- October 23rd! Don't miss it!

Monday Night Invasion: Week 32 (October 17, 2016):

Weekly Rankings Recap - 10/16/2016

Marz & Violent`J are careening toward a full year as reigning Duo Division Champions, but this week's set-up for their defense at Tower of Power XVII was only one of the stories this week. Six teams were successfully chosen for The Challenger 7 at Pre-Show 85, but an unexpected tie in the qualifiers means its anybody's guess who the seventh team will be!

The Rage in the Cage main event proved the Steel Cage dishes out pain without discrimination. Just competing with Ratt is a big deal. The unexpected win came at a price, but is a major feather in the cap for "American Nightmare" LordSkarlet! Shame it had to be on a Pre-Show. Cages are a big deal and really belong to the biggest available stage.

Was the assault on Friday Night Fights the biggest story of the week? It's hard to say. DaemonX wouldn't usually be expected to take such extreme measures, but even in the dying days of ICWW, Banging was an important piece of his game plan. Losing him to The British Exit isn't the end for The Invasion, but it certainly helps the otherwise outclassed Brexit collective remain competitive. We should find out just how competitive they intend to be during tonight's Monday Night Invasion.

In all the chaos it could easily be overlooked that The Invasion recruited a champion into their ranks last Monday! SubScorpTile proved his value as investment with a solid Division 2 Championship defense at the close of Tournament 75! This technically gives The Invasion domain over two titles (including Violent`J's Duo gold), diminishing the concern over Statix and his KFL Championship.

The United did some light recruiting this week, as well. Shoe's problems with Poasty have been well documented, but nobody could've expected that Poasty's Tournament 75 Third Round loss could be a part of that! Murdoink revealed his return to the group at Pre-Show 85! That brings the current incarnation of the group to a membership of six -- The United's biggest!

Factions may be growing, but The League was shocked to lose one of its Duo Division players in Challenger 7 qualifying. rxvt became the latest casualty of a particularly brutal year, succumbing to "The Alliance" AlbertBeefcake & The_Hurricane in a pretty standard match. He was clearly fighting hurt during the pair's recent run of success.

The race for the Duo Division Championship should be the focus of the next week. Supercard 85: Tower of Power XVII will mark the 364th consecutive day of Team Xtreme as champs! If they retain this Sunday, their full year is all but assured! Hoping to unset them will be TonyTheTiger & CaTigeReptile -- the all-star pairing who earned #1 spot at Supercard 84: Return to the Dark Carnival. Win, lose, or draw -- history will be made this weekend! Be here for full results!
